      He's a low-hour doctor. Definitely wouldn't be advisable for an airplane manufacturer to highlight a doctor that quickly moved into flying a more advanced airplane. Doctors have very high crash rates compared to general aviation as a whole. It would be much better to highlight a very experienced owner-pilot choosing the kodiak over other planes, and the reasoning behind the decision.

    Lots of respect for Amir! He's already achieved so much, yet is smart and humble enough to admit that there's always more to learn. He'll go far as a pilot an plane owner. I'm a huge Kodiak fan and think Amir made a wise choice when he bought the aircraft. And now with the 900 there's even more scope for growth and better aircraft performance. I think Cessna should be concerned in terms of the competition.

    Rich and Amir, I just want to thank you two for sharing this wonderful story. As a lifelong airplane fanatic, his journey let's me know my dream to replicate his process is within reach. The only thing I'm going to change is purchasing the Kodiak 900. I have a goal to not only use the aircraft for personal and business, but for charity work as well. To provide an option to traditional airlines for family and friends, etc. I have been following your channel for a while and you and Amir are a class act.

The fit and finish on both the exterior and interior looks fabulous. And I love the glass panel. There is a guy on youtube that fly's into remote areas in PNG delivering cargo. At 15 years of age, I would look to the sky when I heard a small aircraft. I shoveled snow, baby sat, cleaned cars and more to save up money. At the age of 17, I started ground school and earned my private pilot's license. I never forgot what I heard. "Flying is serious fun". I'm so proud of myself for accomplishing something so stellar at a young age! Eventually, at age 48, I had my own amphibious aircraft called a Searey by Progressive Aerodyne. I never flew a stick before yet still flew solo within 2 hours. I became one with this plane. When I would fly, it felt like an extension of myself. I can't explain this but it was awesome and it made flying even more enjoyable as an amphibian. I became so confident, I was never trained for water landings by an instructor. I patiently taught myself and the first time landing on water, I was elated!!! About 6 months later, landing at Manatee Airport, 48X, two men in a government vehicle pulled me over! They were conducting random inspections of pilots and their planes. They asked why I did not have a endorsement for landing on water. My comment to them was, I just bought the airplane and I only use it for regular airports and I don't land on the water! hahaha., They could not argue and left me alone.

    Nice job on video. Amir is flying with a safety pilot, no doubt a insurance requirement. However, back in the 70's learning to fly the Commercial Ticket was the next stepping stone after Private. Fast forward in today's world, seems the IFR Rating really makes you a better pilot. Congratulations to Amir.

    Commercial Multi-Instrument Rated Pilot here. I fly a King Air 200, and Bonanza. This story is repeated over and over again. Flying is a commitment but not an impossible one. I think most give up on it because they don’t want to carve out the time commitment or can’t. Of all of my ratings, getting my IFR was the most arduous. I started then got busy and couldn’t finish. Then I couldn’t fly on IFR days. The commercial Multi was for King Airs. But I flew a Baron for a while. I think if you have a purpose for flying it’s easier. But great to hear this story. I’m not a big Kodiak or Caravan Fan because I like pulling the gear up, and two engines, but that plane is a beast and I get why he has it. He can haul a lot in it.

    A question on color if I may :
    Does a dark color on an aircraft have any effect on temp inside the cabin and the fuel tanks as it is standing on the ramp etc?

    • @FlyingwithRich
      @FlyingwithRich  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching - first really solid dark airplane I have been around a lot. So far, I haven’t noticed any difference.

    • @thecrazymd
      @thecrazymd 2 роки тому +3

      Had the plane in Vegas 120 degrees parked outside on a few trips. AC cools the plane down very quickly and we use window shade covers. I don’t think at those temps color matters, it’s just hot no matter what.

    • @thecrazymd

      Thank you. Usually I approach around 75-80 knots. You can approach slower but I’d like a bigger buffer to the stall speed. We have plenty of runway and I can slow the plan down a little more over the runway very easily.

    Captain Obvious says this is not the average plane for the average guy; if Amir was full of himself for his accomplishments I would have watched a couple of minutes to appreciate the Kodiak. Amir comes across as a down to earth guy with the needed abilities to get the aircraft and the skills necessary to tame her. Subscribed and enjoyed the flight...

    • @thecrazymd
      @thecrazymd 2 роки тому +2

      My experience the Kodiak is much more stable on yaw. The caravan is longer when we were in it during the test flight everyone was sick from how much the plane was yawing. Haven’t experienced that yet in the Kodiak

    737s have the fuel sticks. I've had to determine fuel that way with INOP guages when I was a line tech. Except 73s have like four or six per wing. And you add up all the amounts per wing. Which is NG can hold 8600lb per wing and a MAX is 8500lb.
