Oh there’s going to be haters in the comments on this one. It sounds like this guy has his head on straight and his instructor and Rich will ensure he becomes a competent pilot. Let’s celebrate his success and congratulate him instead of tearing him down.

Somehow he became successful and made money. So he can afford a Richard Mille watch, a Kodiak Turbine, even a jet 🛩. And? So what? Nobody knows his exact story to get there where he is today. No reason to be jealous. Let him enjoy this. He feels better in a Turbine rather then a Piston. I can follow this. With a good instructor you can also learn to fly a Kodiak as a beginner. It’s a matter of hours and training. Good luck to further joy of flying. Glad to see you can do this in your favorite plane.

I agree, let the man enjoy living his dream. Who knows just how much work went into being this successful. Too many people being lazy, asking for a handout, with no idea what achievement is really all about, yet they have nothing but negativity to share. If you have nothing good to say, then shut up... Sometimes the success of others can be a strong motivational kick in the ass for those who do nothing, achieve nothing, and have nothing but jealousy and hatred for those who make something of themselves and their lives. I'm happy for the man.

Great job, from both. I love the fact that you allowed him to land the plane on his own and were not fighting the controls with him. It shows true confidence coming from the instructor and it gives the student an enormous confidence boost.
I'm currently a student pilot myself and in the beginning of my training I had an instructor that would fight the controls with me as I would come to land and I honestly thought I was doing everything wrong. After changing instructors, I realized I wasn't doing anything wrong. The instructor I had wasn't much of a good one, "his way or no way." The first flight I had with my current instructor I landed the plane all on my own, first words that came out of his mouth... "One of the best landings I've seen all day." He has many, many students. The landing felt great to me as well and I gained so much confidence from his demeanor and those simple words.
The instructor that sits next to you in that right seat makes a HUGE difference, do not settle!

ABSOLUTELY Awesome job Amir, I had 180 hours when I first flew a Kodiak and I was nervous as all get out, but after a few minutes, I like you came to the conclusion that the Kodiak was much easier to fly than the 182! You’re goin g to love the Kodiak and getting some turboprop time in the caravan is a bonus!
Can’t wait to see you progress along in your journey to get your PPL &!Instrument rating so you can take full advantage of the Kodiak’s abilities, Rich is awesome as well and he will not steer you wrong!

yes Rich....you are the worlds best instructor, I have watched and liked every one of your videos (watched some of them numerous times). You are so kind and have so much knowledge (I wish I just even knew only what you have forgotten), you create an outstanding learning environment, never raise your voice even after repeating the same thing over and over (example, I am sure you told your daughter 3 or more times in nice, kind, gentle ways to lift up the flap handle a bit before you push the button to lower the flaps). I am rated on LR 25s, B 737-200s, BE 10/20, DHC-6 etc and own a cherokee 140 so all of your videos are of interest to me. Absolutely love your videos and am always happy when the bell rings and its a new video from you.

Super interesting to see a student pilot who trains in a 172 trying out a Caravan. I’ve always heard a Caravan flies like a big 172, he certainly seemed to land it well. Maybe the high wing familiarity helps out with the “picture” in the pattern. I’m trying to imagine back when I was a student with 20 hours in a 152 and how I would have handled it, thought he did very well- of course having a very good and relaxed instructor makes all the difference! Loved the details on managing the turbine on start up and takeoff and how you have to really be conscious of “limits”. Great video! Thanks Rich.

This is awesome. Reminds me where I was 2.5 years ago. Student pilot and bought a Malibu and didn’t have a PPL. I charted a Pilates PC12 and at 12 hrs total time got 4 landing in a PC12.
Did my IFR training in the Malibu and just bought a Twin Commander 690B. Now I am at 750 hrs and building twin turbine time to upgrade to a Jet. This is great, folks like this student pilot full filling his dreams. Hopefully he gets his private then IFR and a good mentor pilot to build time in his new turbo prop. Rich love the channel and the cool calm way of building confidence in someone new. We all have to learn somewhere and we all need great instructors.
Biggest thing is not to get ahead of our own learning curve and keep building time under good mentors.
Rich - I will upgrade in another year once I hit 300 hrs twin turbine time. I will reach out for help with the jet upgrade.
Amir - Congratulations awesome if you are ever in Chicago area look me up we will go flying. Great to see others that have similar goals and dreams.

Hi Rich, Great to see you dragging Amir out for a spin in the 208 Caravan and not even a Private pilot yet! You guys really seemed to gel well together in the cockpit. Very impressed with Amir’s ability to pick up the turbine pretty naturally, if he keeps the pace going and his learning continuing he is going to be a great pilot in a short amount of time. You had a very good cockpit side manner with him and that really helps a low time pilot relax and able to focus better. The videos are always awesome and really appreciate them all.

I think what he is doing is the right way to go if you can afford it. Figure out what you want in aviation and then get there as fast as possible. He knows he wants a Kodiak so training in a 172 is only good for the absolute basics. I only took a couple flights in a 172 before I bought my 182. I wanted the majority of my training to be in my own plane. I also had the immediate thought in a 182 that it was much easier to fly than a 172 so I can kind of relate to what he is saying.

Awesome seeing a new pilot crush it. One of the frustrating things about the civilian side is doubting newer time pilots (some rightfully so) and how long it takes to move up to bigger aircraft and turbines v military where first plane you fly is the T-6. Heck yeah! Good stuff. Hopefully some day I’ll be able to get a Kodak of my own and I’ll be learning turboprops just like this guy. But for now, it’s 172s for me 😆

The kodiak is a great airplane have him watch the Missionary Bush Pilot flying in PNG out of some short dirt strips. I think it will take Amir a few more hours with you before he will solo
in the airplane. Always enjoyable to watch your videos when you teach . Safe Travels

Wow! Some of the comments on this video are amazing. Can't just be happy for the guy?
The fact that some people recognized the brand and value of the man's watch says more about them than about him. Stop watching other people's pockets!!!
I personally like his enthusiasm, and it's not like he doesn't take advice. I mean he wanted a jet and was told he wasn't ready, and he acknowledge that. As far as going from a 172 to turboprop I don't think Rich would have taken that ride with him if he thought the pilot wasn't ready, do you? Come on people let's just encourage Amir to progress, and do it the correct and safe way, and I am sure he understands that since he intends to fly his family places.
    Love.

Aviation and flying is a great equalizer. No matter how much money you have, it will never be enough. Rich, wait until after his Private before flying into Oshkosh for the airshow 😀
Doing the private in a Cessna 172 is the right way. Fly 3-4 times a week and when his plane is finished, he can fly the New Toy.

I think a caravan would be a great plane to haul your gear and family on trips.

    • @scotabot7826
      @scotabot7826 2 роки тому

Yes, I'n my opinion, The Caravan is a much better aircraft. After all, the Caravan is basically a large 172/182 with a turbine engine and more systems. I just think the Caravan is a better aircraft for low time pilots. It is a great flying better handling aircraft, that will treat a low time pilot better, again, in my opinion. It also doesn't require flaps for takeoff. There are other things as well, but this isn't the place.
