I've wanted to build me a 2nd Gen 12v G56 for the longest time and now this motivates me even more once I'm done at this Diesel Tech Program I'm at and got da money to get a 2nd Gen 12v as a project lol
I'm doing that right now Demetrius, my 98 12 valve is getting shipped from Missouri to Superstick headquarters in Texas. Doing a G56 swap, I'll give you update soon.
Regarding your clutch masters, did you have to use aftermarket hydraulics with adjustable pedal position, or oem hydraulics? Getting ready to put in a fx1200 organic in mine.
did your original trans have the mounting holes at rear case stripped out? mine have been this way for a long time and it drives me nuts. also, did they do anything to the new trans to prevent that from happening?
@@Cargill450 The 140 might rresemble the Lazarsmith junk I put in yrs ago. it was so thick the trans wwould hardly shift. I drained the fluid with 45 miles on it and the oil was filled with brass particles. He's lightened it up since.

There all different depending on if you have worn or broken parts in the trans so I would recommend calling them but for example I paid 3400 to have mine rebuilt and shipped
@@Cargill450 that's really reasonable considering the upgrades. I'm sure I have some broken parts (counter shaft at least). I lost everything but 5th all at once. Hoping the case is good. Thanks for the info! I'll give them a call 👍🏼
Its going to all depend on how busy they are and where you live so all I can tell you is how it was for me but shipping was 5 day each way and once I came up in the queue at superstick they got me done really quick
Is it the 30% thicker cast case? Lazersmith says they have one that will handle 7500whp so unbreakable either laxer of CDP but anywho looks sweet! How much is what I’m wondering! I just installed FAST coolers and a compound kit so running close to 900 who so I’ll be ready for a trans like yesterday! I run the Amsoil synchromesh and really like it btw! If you become a dealer it’s not too bsd priced FYI!
So im not here to start any beef with anyone or any companies but I do know after talking with Super Stick that they have build a wild amount of these g56 transmissions with the stock cases and they hold up great, the last thing i should be able to break this trans build is the actual case and that is because of just how tight they build them but I have no doubt that I cant throw all the power to this trans and the case will hold but none the less their prices are great depending if you are just getting the trans rebuilt or have serious damage the price will change and I should defiantly look into becoming a dealer because the oil is amazing and I have been trying to run nothing but Amsoil lately so it would make sense for sure. Thank you for talking the time to watch also it means a lot!!
I had too much noise with Amsoil Synchromesh. I use their MTG. I tried lazersmith's fluid. I was sso thick the trans wouldd't shift. I had bookoo brass particles when i drained it after 45 miles. MTG since.
@@Cargill450 Gotcha, I’m about an hour from Cody, so I think it’ll be lower especially since I can bring him the truck. I also don’t need a huge upgrade like yours, just a stock rebuild if not a slight upgrade.
Have you ever had a problem with throttle sticking ? For example when you go to shift the throttle still seems to be engaged and the RPMs still climb for a second or two before dropping unless you come off the throttle pedal two seconds before engaging the clutch. It seems to be more noticeable when you're in the throttle more shifting it at higher RPMs I know this is unrelated to your video but there's not too many people with a g56 on UA-cam
I haven't had that issue on mine but I have noticed on some trucks it does seem like the throttle hangs a little bit before it drops. Is it a stock truck?
Thank you, its has a few things done to it, it has a s367 3rd gen swap not a 2nd gen swap and it also is a 4 inch straight pipe exhaust, there are a lot of other little things but those have a big impact on sound.
It really depends on the condition of the trans you send in. I feel like they are fair considering what you get done but I couldn't give you a good number.
My 5th gear syncro was starting to make horrible noises when shifting so I wanted to send it out before something more serious happened but at the same time decided to build it stronger at the same time.
What gears do you have in your axles? I have a 2017 with 342s. Your truck is a little older I wanna do this so bad just trying to see if I will have to do the axles too with 37s. I know you said it’s great but wanted to see what your ratio was.

I think it'd a damn good clutch honestly, I had to learn how to drive the truck differently because it being a full ceramic clutch there is absolutely no slipping it but it's honestly a really good clutch
What a struggle wrestling that trans into place, spend the money for a trans jack folks and don't risk damaging your input shaft and or clutch components.
Right?! Having installed around 30+ transmissions without one, I couldn't believe how easy it was WITH one. Installed my NV4500 myself in less than 5 minutes. Well worth the money!
Your not wrong, the only gear options for the 2008 with the automatic were 3.73 and 4.10 BUT the g56 trucks had the option for 3.42 gears in that yearing.
You had me second guessing to be honest 😅 I had to do a little searching to make sure I wasn't giving you false information. I know this truck does have the 3.42 gears from when I swapped the carrier a few years ago.

Thank you!! I appreciate that
Regarding your clutch masters, did you have to use aftermarket hydraulics with adjustable pedal position, or oem hydraulics? Getting ready to put in a fx1200 organic in mine.
Aftermarket for sure!! I adjusted my clutch pedal probably about 1/4 inch higher then my brake pedal and it's happy there
Gnarly! They thing is a work of art
did your original trans have the mounting holes at rear case stripped out? mine have been this way for a long time and it drives me nuts. also, did they do anything to the new trans to prevent that from happening?
My mounting holes were still really good but I would imagine they would fix those for you, maybe heli-coil them or fill and redrill
I've used Amsoil 75-90 MTG for years now. It's the slickest stuff yet.
I am going to change the fluid to see how it reacts to thicker oil but I'm between the mtg 75-90 and the 140 severe gear
