I always like to think that he got picked up by OVO music and is now making bangers ghostwriting and making bank. or he's still living in his mom's house, whatever, dude's the fucking king.
I like heavy cromch with the distortion but just turn down the mix and do prefiltering around 300hz. Gives it that nice saturation without destroying the sound. Great vid as always!
Thanks! I appreciate the videos and community, this is the best source I have found on youtube for learning about synths and sound design in the context of wonky bass music
Also just because i dont see you doing it much but you can rly mess with OTT to make cool noises by draggin the bars in the center where u see the blue line appear
Exactly what I was thinking I love shaping the spectrum if I’m going for less mids or more and cutting/boost lows/highs this can do a really good job or at least alittle unique compared to other methods
Love the deep dive into the signal chain and a lot of people are so stuck in this goes here this goes there, where you need to experiment with different placements of effects... well done man love the videos!
I had the weirdest dream last night and u were in it hahaha. I had a dream your next turorial was being presented at the lost lands pre party and u were covering bawdly (I swear im not trying to pressure u hahaha i know its coming but this happened in my dream) After u showed us how to break down a drop like his, everyone lost their minds and we had big names like bricksquash, bawdly, liquid stranger, mize, (and a few others i dont remember) all come up and hype you up. it felt surreal cause i too was up on stage for some reason. I woke up and went straight to youtube cause i had to see if that was a real video it was so much fun. Anyway have a great day buddy i rly do appreciate what you do for all of us
So if I'm following this correctly, if you tweak a parameter and your sound gets less bassy or further away from how you want it to sound then you should pull back on that parameter a bit right? Maybe we can think of it in broader terms; If you begin to do anything to anything and the output is getting worse then you just have to remain conscious of the thing you were doing and kinda back-track a little until you return to the bit where it wasnt worse.
Could you possibly make a video where you explain different drum patterns and designs for different drops? I feel as if tho most artists (including me) struggle with coming up with different drum patterns and what not!
also try turning down the phase randomization so the wavetable always starts at the the same frame/cylce. And maybe add a little bit of attack to the amp env.
Good videos, being someone with no production skills this is really interesting. A quick question, what is the cause of the initial clipping sound when the bass first plays?
and if you get a click at the END of your sound, its your release. if you want a sound thats immediate and immediately goes away, try having an attack around 0.4 ms and a release of about 100. youll notice the pops disappeared as you tweak it. doesnt take much
Sick tutorial! What about people who use ton of post processing to make basses sound beefy af? (e.g. VR, Panda Eyes) Seems like they know some kind of magick formula for it
Can you do some videos using vital and live lite? I’m trying to send my koala project to live lite but I think I already exceed the 8 track count. Is there an easy way to convert an ableton file to Logic Pro X?
If you use wider maxed out will it cause the sound to be cancelled out on a mono system? Does having more gain on the side eat up headroom that could go towards the mono channel?
no, wider is surprisingly mono compatible even when maxed out, i just think too much width makes the mono signal FEEL weaker (which is where the beef should be!) and makes the sound a little too chorus-y for my taste
Lab Group, Potions, Player Dave, I know you’ve done stuff on CTF but I’m aiming for the minimalistic wubs.. I have the groove down, as well as the wubs but for the low end wubs I keep finding my stuff lacking. I’m turning a sub into a wub, to get the low end but my frequencies aren’t there or they’re just too quiet. Its really bothering me, and probably something simple but a video on it would be nice
Something I found out fun since I’m a beginner, try to make a bass loop and variations with only one single square wave. It teaches you to dig through processing and what to choose
Gotta say I find it hilarious. Bought vital due to you, whilst thinking it was just a copycat of serum. But damn, you give out so much info I'm actually having to rewind your videos. I've learnt more in bass design Watching your free Content than I did from watching serum and massive. Guide over a decade. You are fucking hilarious dude, I hope you go into teaching or at least Setup a little paid vital guide. I woluld pay for it just to watch more Of your general advice. Safe.
Bunting, where did you go? We miss you. We need you now more than ever.
I always like to think that he got picked up by OVO music and is now making bangers ghostwriting and making bank.
or he's still living in his mom's house, whatever, dude's the fucking king.
More epic tips. Realizing how much post processing is done to the sounds is like a level up
Right?? I am only recently realizing that a serum/vital preset is just the starting block. So much post processing is required to make it fat
Another tip,
If you're getting popping at the start of your sound,
Try increasing the attack by 1-5 ms
im pretty sure that popping is there because he has random phase on the oscs in his vital instances
I think it’s the release, not the attack…same idea though
@@mthomas1091 nah i think it’s the attack or phase like the other guy said
@@mthomas1091 release is the tail, he's talking about the start.
Yeah this is correct, do this. 1-3ms should do it, 5ms will mess the sound up too much.

Prefiltering meaning you cut out around 300 hz in the chain before adding distortion?
@@luciferianjesuslover9453 no, bpf in the distortion itself
Insane tutorial, learned so much about bass design and post processing in less time than it takes a wheel barrow to take a 5 o
“Or whatever gimmick” is the reason you’re my fav tut man
Thanks! I appreciate the videos and community, this is the best source I have found on youtube for learning about synths and sound design in the context of wonky bass music
Love this man, thanks! Less really is more sometimes, especially with post-processing
What the hell dude. This is the first video i’ve seen that isn’t cringe and straight to the point. You earned a sub
hahaha, I love the acidic delivery. Use the graphic eq to make sure the sub is in the range. All harmonics after that are a bonus
U simply Nailed it
No mushy talking
Just what counts, to the points
Thx for putting me on to Vital ! That engine sounds awesome. Good tutorial too, hitting all the fundamentals and some nice secrets
Also just because i dont see you doing it much but you can rly mess with OTT to make cool noises by draggin the bars in the center where u see the blue line appear

love you bunting - ty for providing some wind for these sails to get going
This guy is just giving out all the sauce bro all in one vid
"not 42 we don't need the answers right now" lmao good 1 m8
Love the deep dive into the signal chain and a lot of people are so stuck in this goes here this goes there, where you need to experiment with different placements of effects... well done man love the videos!
Bro I subscribed cause you were twirling your hair at the end, drew me right in
dudee iv been looking for a video that breaks it down like this ty
Youre truly goated with content youve been putting out. Thanks Bunt
man you just saved an arp on my song with the Multiband Compression preset tip THANK YOU!!! loved all the tips in the vid tho
Another great video, sweet!!
"Even tho I do, as a treat" 😂😂
As always great video!!!! Love the new song btw
I could have used this video 5 years ago lol your helping keep some stupid mistakes from happening and saving not just time but sanity too.
Yes its true. I rareely use ott and if i do i always change the settings so that its less harsh. Ott is just a preset.

Thanks for dropping us the project file and for teaching us how to cook up fat basses. Off to make a bass casserole. A basserole.
This is a nice, clean, straight to the point tutorial. Doing good work
Another amazing video! Thanks Bunting keep it up bro!
Thanks for another amazing video, Bunting! 💛

@@BuntingMusic Genius.
I blame the very low cost of storage for this.
FM to me sounds best when you use higher octaves with your modulators. Keeping the Carrier bass low. Would you agree or disagree with that?
very good first point about FM, people get a little too crazy with it
killing it bro
hey g could you make a tutorial for something like quix huhhhk its so clean and i'm struggling with getting that sound
I liked the sound of the first bass at the beginning it was spacey but not loud enough
You left my boy frequency shifter out of the video 😳
Great video mate
great info. thank you.
amazing video thank you for all the knowledge
cool tip in the WIDER
Great Video Man Thanks!!

i am planning on it.....
Hey Bunting are you going to any festivals this year??
perhaps a Laika Beats tutorial my guy??
"as a treat" got me fucking rolling lmaooo
Agreed. Phaser is the secret sauce!!!
It really makes them upper harmonics come alive. Do my sub bass have to be in mono as well???
sub bass should always be in mono, abletons utility audio effect can do this easily
@@BuntingMusic thank u!!!
wow ur better than skrilelx
Awesome tutorial, thanks man! Do you have any idea where the clicks come from? I've noticed it with serum and sometimes vital as well.
if the attack/release are too short clicks can happen, you can add volume fades to fix this
also try turning down the phase randomization so the wavetable always starts at the the same frame/cylce. And maybe add a little bit of attack to the amp env.
hey dude the discord group is expired is there other link? I’m a creative producer looking forward to join a team of bassheads like you
FM is for high pitch sound and the formant is instantly high, best advice for a growliy sound, just mess with the wave table
Less is more... thanks for the quality content. Good man
Great video just subscribed
Good videos, being someone with no production skills this is really interesting. A quick question, what is the cause of the initial clipping sound when the bass first plays?
turn your attack up some on your ADSR
Click comes from a short attack. Attack is like a fade in from 0 volume at the beginning of the sound
and if you get a click at the END of your sound, its your release. if you want a sound thats immediate and immediately goes away, try having an attack around 0.4 ms and a release of about 100. youll notice the pops disappeared as you tweak it. doesnt take much

THIS IS SUCH A GOOD FUCKING VIDEO. GOD BLESS THE BUNTING!
Sick tutorial! What about people who use ton of post processing to make basses sound beefy af? (e.g. VR, Panda Eyes) Seems like they know some kind of magick formula for it
i think most of them go overboard, it’s better to know what these racks are doing and customize for each sounds needs
Can you do some videos using vital and live lite? I’m trying to send my koala project to live lite but I think I already exceed the 8 track count. Is there an easy way to convert an ableton file to Logic Pro X?
Can you please explain what you meant by put your basses in zero range??
If you use wider maxed out will it cause the sound to be cancelled out on a mono system? Does having more gain on the side eat up headroom that could go towards the mono channel?
no, wider is surprisingly mono compatible even when maxed out, i just think too much width makes the mono signal FEEL weaker (which is where the beef should be!) and makes the sound a little too chorus-y for my taste
Just use utility to mix in mono
yoooooo will you do a sunken frequncies style????
Banger video
Could you perhaps dive into the sounddesign behind a song called -> REZZ - Edge
Would love to see how this kinda bass is made
might do a rezz tutorial but try a lowpass plucked saw with downsample
yo solid vid
You are the shit bro

OTT is actually powerful if you know what to do, you just don't understand multiband dynamics
Homie I wanna see you flex your tunes on a fat sound system, are playing out yet in Baltimore/philly area??
not yet but i have plans to take bookings soon

@@BuntingMusicdude COMISAR is king with his new EP Vision Realms ugh so good
For some reason vital is making these popping and clicking noises whenever I use distortion & a compressor together please help😭
add volume fades to the beginnings and ends of midi notes
1:20 is the exact point, when I say: *NEVER* process a preset, until it's rendered and completely worked out!
but sometimes sound designing with processing on leads to new wacky discoveries
@@BuntingMusic yeah f. e. having a chorused sinewave effecting with a bitcrusher can be fun!

can anyone tell me why its clipping in my headphones

no attack so it's not hitting 0
Was thinking the same thing. Gotta add just a tiny amount of attack to make it stop clicking a lot of the time
