    Jameson’s Travels brought up a really good point. Usually these village idiots are never the ones who are like “I was an admin guy” or “I was a cook” it’s always “I was a SEAL team 6 recon Delta Force Sniper and my job is to “go on missions”

      Although I think I heard some other cases, like being any emergency service personnel or similar as perhaps secondary popular "stolen valor category". So it's always like a special job or one with relatively good public standing.

    • @paulwolf7562
      @paulwolf7562 3 роки тому +6

      I could probably explain it? Simply because so many people out there, have been infused with adventure movies, 24/7 News channels, and the propaganda machine of this culture of hero worshipping the military. It started right around Desert Storm, in 1990/91. Then really took off right after 9/11. So, many people wanted to join the military, (including me), they didn't know how to handle things. No, I never wanted to go around playing at being in the military. I tried, after college, and thst was about it. Except for Civil War reenacting, back in the 1990s- 2000s.

Some I'm wondering if some of these were actually military and medically discharged or weren't in the military, but have some sort of disability. Also wearing a military uniform is not Stolen Valor. Stolen is Valor claiming to have served when you didn't. Military uniform or not. I've even seen it with actual servicemen. Claiming to be a Seal when you're actually a SeaBee.

      @@imnapalmsensitive5581 I agree with you on that. For some reason people see any sort of military styled clothing and automatically think Stolen Valor. I was in the store getting groceries for my station’s kitchen once when some Army PFC came up and asked me what my MOS was over my 5.11 TacMed pants which are solid black, cause that is totally military 🙄 then he went on a stolen valor tirade and threatened me, I told him I am in Emergency Services and these are TacMed pants we wear as part of our uniform, and that he could kindly fuck off with his accusations.
      I myself use my old academy issue trousers for hunting, just because they work and don’t make it necessary for me to buy expensive hunting pants.
      There are people who freak out over things like that, and I have a lot of buddies who think the whole videoing and calling out of people is somewhat of a clout thing now versus actually getting phonies. @@epikmadman5518 the problem is a lot of these kids don't really project the image of actual Operators. Its something that these guys have mentioned before in a previous video on SCP: Overlord. The plan for the now cancelled SCP Final Film that Evan Royalty was making was basically to use only Veterans who were some kind of Operator. Garand Thumb for example being a TAC-P was one of the guys they had contacted. But airsofters aren't always so eager to hear that they are doing things wrong, I know that from being a Ref for 5 years and having to tell 18-21 year olds that they can't blind fire or take off their eye-pro, and frankly if they couldn't listen to basic field rules, some of them probably won't be willing to listen and would rather look "tacticool" than actually do things right. Not saying all Airsofters are like that, but it would be easier to get actual vets like Garand Thumb or even someone like Jet TheDesertFox to partake in this, as many of them are pretty big nerds who would be down.

I think most people claim Special Operations service versus any other MOS because in their eyes it is the greatest thing ever and that they are heroes.
