      Hi Mikey! I loved your ditty at the beginning! I have a question on your tutorial...for the brim, the pattern says hdc and you're instructing hdc, but it LOOKS like you're actually making a dc. Am I confused? It HAS been known to happen 🤣

    • @His-Joule
      @His-Joule 3 роки тому

      @@kristiebarnes8573 - I went back and watched the beginning again. He’s working the first round in HDC Hon. Remember that a hdc does require the same yarn over that a dc does ( I’m thinking that’s what your brain picked up on was the YO vs seeing him pull thru all three loops on his hook )- anyways take care.

    Thank you for this so much! What a beautiful hat, and it was so easy too. I love how it came out! I used mandala yarn and a 4.25 hook (no size 4) and I chained 80 due to the difference in hook size, worked out to fit an adult, my head is 21.5 inches it fits me. I’m so happy with it too. Thanks Mikey! Great tutorial 🫶

    Ok this is my take on that stunningly gorg grey yarn ( def resembles an ombré effect ), it looks more like a DK weight than a 4 weight. But regardless it’s a beautiful hat !

    Did you meet gauge with the regular 4 weight yarn? Do you think it’s possible if you didn’t check for tutorial purposes…?

    • @TheCrochetCrowd
      @TheCrochetCrowd  3 роки тому +3

      I didn't check my gauge. However, I know my own tension pretty well and the hat does fit. I leave it to crocheters to do a gauge check if they need. The gauge given on the pattern is for the particular pattern not the yarn itself.

      Measure measure measure the circumference of the widest part of the head

    • @TheCrochetCrowd
      @TheCrochetCrowd  3 роки тому +3

      Try a gauge swatch to help solve that issue. It might work for you to test your tension to know where you are to change your hook size.

      You can,You have to keep doIng it. It's called practice
      "Practice Makes Perfect." The more you do it. You will eventually see what you're doing wrong and you will see either a video that will explain why or you'll come up with your own video and you'll be able to help others,Never give up,keep trying.

      I always make a ribbed band first. Make sure if fits my head.. usually flat measures 17 inches long. My head is 21 1/2 in. Then I make the body of the hat, increasing stitches on the first row to make the pattern work. For this one. I used a j hook for the band which will fold up 56 rows long of single crochet. Then I used an I hook to make 60 stitches for the body of the hat. Seems to work for me. *shrugs worth a shot!
