    I hope you would consider a reupload where you show where to join the ends of the rounds, and the decrease rows. It was challenging for me and ive been crocheting 13 years, haha

    Thanks for this. I haven’t done cabling before so was really hoping you’d show the decreases or show how the start and end points look like on your written pattern. It’s pretty tricky to follow with no video and no photos. If you can provide a bit more detail that would be really helpful.

    I wish I had read the comments before starting this hat. After hours and hours of working at it, I too have found that the pattern doesn't work after row 14. Please Kimberley, could you give us the rest of the instructions? The hat is beautiful but the instructions are so frustrating. The sizes are inaccurate too. Thank you for your posting your beautiful crafts. I made the waffle cardigan and love it. I think everyone who has taken the time to post here hopes to hear back from you soon. Thank you!

      I just got up to row 15 and figured it out so I thought I'd try explain it differently.
      So.
      First chain 2. Then we have the cables right away so you want to skip the first two that are facing the direction you're working (im left handed so they're facing right if you're right handed they will be facing left) then you want to treble crochet around the next two that are facing the opposite way and then treble crochet around the first two that you skipped. This will give you a twist. Then double crochet in the 4 slip stitches from the previous round.
      And for sizing I just measured it around my head when I did my chain and kept increasing it by 8 until I got the right length for my head, I crochet really tight so I ended up needing 120 to be the right size for my head. And I'm going to just keep trying it on until I get the right height for my head.
      I hope this helps, I'll finish row 15 and then see what row 16 looks like. Fingers crossed that I'll be able to figure out how to finish this.
      If you want I could also send you a pictures that might help too

      @@sarastockton14 Hi Sara, thank you so much for this information. I really, really appreciate it. This is what I've worked out:
      I started with a count of 88 chains to fit an adult.
      I prefer to leave out rows 5 & 6 to make the hat shorter.
      After row 7, every 8 rows are the same. (Actually, every 4th row is the same except that you alternate the start with a 2dc or a fptr). For examples rows 9, 13 & 17 are all dc of every stitch. Rows 10, 14 & 18 all bring the cables to each other. Rows 11, 15 & 19 are all crossing the cables. I hope this makes sense!
      I started decreasing at row 23 by working 2dctog for every 2dc. Row 24 reduces the 2dc again. For Row 25 I did 2dctog for every stitch.
      To finish, I wove the yarn in and out of every stitch with a tapestry needle, pulled it together and stitched.
      I'm really new to crocheting and this may or may not be correct!
      Like you, I'm left-hand too so it can be a bit of a challenge to mirror image the videos 😋
      Thanks again for sharing what you worked out. I really appreciate it.

    Thanks for the video! I found this pattern on your website and seeing how you did round 10 really helped me along. After that everything 'clicked' and I just finished my hat! Made a soft grey with white pom pom too. It fits really well. I used an 8ply baby yarn because my store didn't have the feels like butta colours I was after. It worked out well, I used the child size stitch and row count to make the gauge. Also I did a foundation HDC round (instead of rounds 1 and 2) so my band was really stretchy. Love this hat will make another one in navy blue!

    I'm working on this hat for the first time. I am following the adult woman pattern. I have done 1 round of repeated stitches from rounds 7-14 or through round 21 and the hat is already at 8" high. I am using a medium worsted weight and the US F/5 - 3.75mm crochet hook. Not sure why it is coming out so big! I think I'll do one more round and start tapering it off.

      The decrease goes like this:
      dc2tog - Double Crochet 2 Stitches Together:
      Yarn over, insert hook into stitch,
      yarn over and pull through stitch,
      yarn over and pull through 2 loops on hook,
      yarn over, insert hook into next stitch,
      yarn over and pull through stitch,
      yarn over and pull through 2 loops on hook,
      yarn over and pull through last 3 loops on hook
      This helped me a lot, I hope it helps you too!

    • @zoeykramer
      @zoeykramer 3 роки тому +1

      dc2tog is kinda like doing half a double crochet (yarn over, insert hook, yarn over and pull through, yarn over and pull through the first two loops then STOP) and then starting ANOTHER double crochet in the next stitch

    • @zoeykramer
      @zoeykramer 3 роки тому

      For that second one, you do those same half a double crochet steps, and then you yarn over and pull through all three remaining loops. The end result is kinda like 1.5 double crochets and only 1 stitch for the next row when you get around to that point. You've replaced 2 stitch spots with essentially 1 stitch

If you'd like to try loosening your stitches I would suggest switching to a larger hook (I find it easier than trying to adjust my tension with the same hook). I hope that helps! :)

    I have a question does your ch2 count as a stitch?

  • @sionesfoundation
    @sionesfoundation 3 роки тому +1

    This is what I figured out. I'm new to crocheting and it may not be right but I did end up being able to finish the hat.
    I started with 88 stitches for an adult sized hat.
    I left out rows 5 & 6 of the headband to make the hat shorter.
    After row 7, every 8th row is the same. (Actually every 4th row is the same except that you alternate the start with a 2dc or a fptr for most of them). For example, rows 10, 14 & 18 all bring the cables together. Rows 11, 15 & 19 are all crossing the cables. Rows 9,13 & 17 are all dc into every stitch.
    I started decreasing at row 23 by ch2 and crossing the cables (like row 15) but I did 2dctog for every dc.
    Row 24 was the same as row 16 but, again, working 2dctog for every dc.
    For row 25, I did 2dctog for every stitch.
    To finish, I wove the yarn in and out of every stitch with a tapestry needle, pulled it together and stitched to hold it.
    As I said, I'm still learning to crochet and I'm open to improvements to this sequence!
