    Garrett at IDC Woodcraft has to be one of the nicest people I have come across in my cnc journey. I know there is a divide in the woodworking community when it comes to cnc machines. I honestly don't care where people come down on the issue because they are passionate about the style of wood working they are into. Isn't that the whole idea of this hobby to have some passion and enjoy the pieces you create! I want to wish you the very best of success in your UA-cam journey I hope you are having fun with it and I hope that you grow this channel to the places you wish for it to go . Have an amazing day..

      Couldn't agree more. Garrett has helped me more than he knows. Also, about your woodworking philosophy. Just do what you enjoy and have fun with it. I appreciate the positive comment. Thanks for watching.

    Just watched this video for the first time. I have now subscribed to your channel and love the project ideas. Will be giving them a go.
    I don't have the same cnc as yourself, as my new one is a Blacktoe 2x6. I am looking forward to following your channel. 🇬🇧

    Nice job Matt. I too remember the feeling of being lost for my first cnc having never been around one and not having anyone to encourage me. I dove into it with my purchase of the 1F woodworker and realized there was so many helpful individuals putting out useful content on UA-cam that it made the learning process quite easy for me.

    Putting in a comment to say hey. I'm a machinist working a Sabre, a Laguna Smart Shop 2 pro, a Jinan Style routers. I do a lot of windows and doors. Right now I'm carving a Aztec calendar using MasterCAM. I also cut with a water jet, a CNC mill haas and fadal and lathes. I use FSwizzard. Nice work.

    Nice Video, I think Garrett now has a section in the tool database where it stores the information to order new bits, I am in Oz so unfortunately I have to watch the cost of postage, it is a killer from the U.S.A as I would like to order some from Garrett myself and have not seen anything like the Hog or others on sites here unless it is commercial which are $150 approx Au.

    • @MattMadeIt123
      @MattMadeIt123  6 місяців тому

      I think you are correct. I need to update to the latest IDC database. The IDC app is fantastic for keeping track of your bit inventory, bit specs, and ordering new bits. That's too bad about your shipping costs. I just ran into that issue, although not quite as bad, trying to order a tool from Canada. $47 shipping for a $40 tool that weighs a few ounces. Thanks for the info, and thanks for watching.

    BASIC BASIC TRAINING NEEDED. I HAVE MY ONEFINITY ALL SET UP. I HAVE MY COMPUTER READY TO GO. AT THIS POINT I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT TO DO.

    • @MattMadeIt123
      @MattMadeIt123  Рік тому +3

      There should be a test cut file preloaded on your machine. You can also go to my website and download my free surfacing and spoil board grid files. Those should give you a good primer on how the machine operates. Also, there is tons of help available on the Onefinity forums. Like I said in the video, once you get those first few carves under your belt, you'll be off and running.

    Matt, Thanks for the great videos. What allowance did you add for the .250" holes to make them fit? .260"?

    • @MattMadeIt123
      @MattMadeIt123  7 місяців тому +2

      Glad you're enjoying the content. Yes. I drilled the holes .26". But I would suggest drilling to .265 or .27. Some of the holes were too tight and I had to ream them a bit to make them usable.

      You're not alone. I've heard this from several people since I started. That first project can be intimidating. But once you get set up and finish your first project, you'll want to do more. Set that bad boy up this weekend and go for it!

    Well done, I added a 3D printer for some bizarre reason instead of a laser. Thinking about an X Tool, just not sold on JTech on the OF, doesn't seem flexible enough for a variety of reasons, your thoughts?

    • @MattMadeIt123
      @MattMadeIt123  9 місяців тому +1

      Honestly, I use my 3D printer much more than the laser. So I'm probably not the best person to ask about lasers. That said, I think it really depends on what you want to do with the laser. Do you need a 55w CO2 laser, or will a 24w diode JTech do the job? Are you just into engraving, or do you want to do a lot of cutting? I like the idea of having a laser on my OF for the capacity, but I also like the idea of the power of a dedicated machine like the XTool P2. If I was deciding which way to go, I would definitely have to give it more thought.

    Can this be done with birch plywood?

      And/Or MDF?

    • @MattMadeIt123
      @MattMadeIt123  9 місяців тому +2

      MDF for sure. Birch ply generally is high quality and has very few, if any, voids. I've cut shapes out of Birch ply, and that has always worked great. I've never carved a pocket in it. But I think it would be OK. I'll have to give it a go myself sometime.
