@@Scubacidewas trying to unscrew this thing the whole morning, thought that plastic thing was a gimick and was annoying the shit out of me, its legit abt to break off, THANK GOD I STUMBLED UPON THIS VID
I am building my first pc and I bought an ssd with a cooling stick. It is too large to put in this motherboard m2 slot. This might be a dumb question but can I just unscrew it and take it out of the cooking stick thing?
You can either remove the cooling heat sink off the SSD you have just bought - nearly all of them are removable. Or you can just ditch the heat sink that your motherboard comes with and just use the one that’s on the SSD. The one that your motherboard comes with, might give better cooling as it’s probably larger.
Even a 2.5in SSD can be well hidden but if it has an SSD and you got the PC in the last couple of years then yes it likely has an M.2 SSD that's under one of the heatsinks
Asus mobo’s let me down…went thru 2 different strix z790-e and 1 strix z790-a…all 3 strix boards having instability issues on new 2nd build. Decided to go back to msi since 2020 and bought this mobo
I have a similar mobo (X670E). Can I run one of my CPU Power cables from the bottom (PSU location) and have it go through / under that IO Port heat sink / shield thing (The one that says Msi on it)???
I think i seen a video where someonr said it doesnt matter if you have 2 of the same kind, same speed. But if different speed i qould make the faster one slot 1. And put OS on yhe faster one as well.
What cpu cooler did you use for this motherboard or what should i use i bought one that says should fit but it doesn’t because the intel is not the right size… pls help
It depends on variant Like e series p series a series E have 1 slot of ssd gen 4 P have 2 slot of ssd gen 4 A have same 2 slot but it with wifi and blutooth latest version
@@SolidsawSee the two black heatsinks on the board? One has two silver screws in it - below the silver PCIe slot at my fingers. There's another below the black PCIe slot below it. These both have M.2 ports underneath
So that's what that little fucker is for! I unscrewed the whole thing. Was a huge pain to get it back in. Hade to stick my hand through the brackets where the gpu connects.
Will depend on the board - most support PCIe 4.0 at least now, but check your motherboard's manual as some might be limited to PCIe 3 speeds and that might mean your SSD won't run at full speed if it's a new one
What’s your SSD doing for it to break? Does yours move on its own? Does it dance? Does your SSD vibrate to generate higher read speeds? Most of mine stay still in my still desktop once it’s installed.

Thank you so much, its my first time building up a pc and i was so confused. I thought i dropped a piece or smth 😢
I bloody tried ages to screw them screws in with the plastic bit on them wound me up and all I needed to do was twist them FML lol
Most people will only install a m.2 once per slot. Putting a screw in is preferable, just the same as screw on pc case sides.
I have this on my mpg z790 edge WiFi ddr5 and it was sooo helpful when I built with it
The cooler looks difficult to put Back in place, especially if there are memory chips on top of the SSD
Wish this was a real video instead of a "short" so it didn't look minuscule on a computer screen.
The fuck, I'm just to stupid to operate this mechanism
I had to watch this short because I was trying to push the tab the wrong way…….

my guy, the way you were failing to align the heat sink is concerning.
maybe msi needs some plastic piece of sh*t to help him with that
Aaannnd that tiny little clip just broke super easily. Great.
You can put a regular screw on I believe
exactly, the screw is a much better idea.
it's possible insert second ssd?

I have the same clip with gigabyte but the heat sync is Phillips screw

there's more room under the other heat sinks under the 1st and 2nd pcie slots, but they require some unscrewing.
