Low FODMAP DOESN'T Treat Constipation or IMO
Вставка

- The low FODMAP diet can be used to manage IBS, SIBO, or occasionally IBD. But, even within those conditions, not every symptom responds well to this diet. It is well documented that low FODMAP reduces abdominal pain and bloating, but there is far less evidence to support its use in constipation or IMO. So, what does this mean? Should you ditch the low FODMAP diet if you struggle with constipation or methane/IMO..?

This is it. I did all the low fodmap, the sibo diets, the herbal antimicrobials, the lot. Ended up on keto then carnivore then food phobic & utterly destroyed by gut biome. Threw everything I'd been reading & listening to, the pricey supplements & testing in the bin. Decided to re-educate my mind, repopulate my gut, eat everything I possibly could by slow introduction, accept that I am going to be bloated some of the time - but LIVE! I'm so much better I wish I'd never started to try & cure my IBS & SIBO - I actually made everything worse & me miserable. I'm back in control
Bless you & so sorry for your struggles, I know them well. A huge factor for me was to stop stressing. Accept that the body is not a machine but an organic organ that can lose its way & it can take time to rebuild. This helps calm down everything. Look carefully at your diet & check out how to do a proper elimination diet (your doctor maybe able to help here). There may be more to your symptoms than what you recognise. I discovered too late that I had also developed histamine intolerance & am starting from square one. Its slow, but I'm winning. Keep a food diary scrupulously - the food, the time of day, the combinations, cooked or raw (cooked is always easier to digest), & what your poop output is like. You may get help from taking a digestive enzyme if you aren't getting the nutrients from your food or you're suffering from poo issues. Dr Di Nezza does some videos on magnesium supplementation if you have constipation - it works for some types (not all). That's a start, ask more if you want, I'll happily share what I know@samanthkuncha2605
You’re so right I’ve been battling this for six years and all these antimicrobials have made me 100 times worse I should’ve just left it alone and just focused on taking magnesium citrate ginger and stuff to help motility. Everything else is just bs. The truth is, there’s actually no cure for Sibo.
Yours is the best comment here. What you take is all I take for IBS & SIBO. I also have histamine intolerance which is a complication but otherwise I now concentrate on introducing as wide variety of fresh foods as I can to create a healthy gut, & take magnesium & non citrus Vit C for motility. I am getting better & bemoan the £1000s I spent on supplements & tests.@@affordableaquariumservices1663
This video is awesome! I started out just being bloated and going on the low fodmap diet made things much worse. I wish more people talked about this.
More IMO content please!!!
My IMO was diagnosed via breath test. Intermittent Fasting with clean keto diet, comprising protein and whole foods, has been very healing. Low Fodmap diet is not beneficial. I have been taking allicin, oregano oil and Berberine in high doses twice daily with meals. Also magnesium at bedtime. I am also looking after my circadian rhythm. Very happy with my progress. After 3 months, I will taper out antimicrobials and taper in supplements intended to heal leaky gut. Feeling great and getting better.
hey, what are some of your symptoms rn? i am gonna get tested soon for sibo and i have constipation, burping, bloating, silent reflux, and breathing issues.
I was wondering this. When i have SIBO, the only reason i bloat is constipation. As long as i get things moving ,no foods bother me. I of course, dont do gluten ever, even on the daily. During SIBO, I dont do sugar. I have been not eating processed foods in 8 months. I only eat meat, fruits and veggies. Unfortunately when i get SIBO it's so bad i cant go poop, even with plenty of fluids and fiber. My reason for SIBO should be coming to an end. I found out i was drinking arsenic and uranium water from my well, which was tested "safe" before moving in. Apparently, Ohio doesn't test anything beyond bacteria in Wells for a home sale. I had no idea. I got SIBO one more time before a urine test that showed i was high on the charts for those 2 heavy metals. The only fluid i drank was 60oz of my well water a day. Pkus my one black coffee a day, from that well. Hopefully this is my last SIBO. i got to thinking, I'm okay if i get things moving. High FODMAP never bothered me otherwise.
I wish i knew about the water 2 years ago. Not 4 weeks ago. Smh. You have helped me learn a lotnover the last half a year. Thank you. Onto gut healing
think IMO is what I have, I'm doing low fodmap (suggested by my GP) and my methane levels are still remaining high, nothing I do or try helps, I'm loosing the will to live with this pain and bloating everyday.
It takes time & most of us are seriously impatient - I'm talking months not weeks. Low fodmap doesn't work across the board for everyone. I suggest you try an elimination diet devised by yourself choosing initially foods that you know don't disagree with you. Let your gut settle then add foods gradually one at a time & you'll soon discover what the culprits are. Stay away initially from tons of supplements as they can create more issues than they resolve.
@jan_po probiotics will make you 1 million times worse you’re just adding bacteria to bacteria overpopulated
What if you have constipation and bloating, but when you eat fiber, it gets worse?
When I was sick that would have killed me not to mention the increased brain fog.
I wsh I could join the FODMAP FREEDOM...price seems a bit high though
We take magnesium malate in am and Magnesium biglycinate pm. Works.
Mag Citrate & Oxide are better for constipation because they don't enter the bloodstream the same & you'll have less likelihood of reaching a toxic load as your body eliminates excess thru the bowels.
Guys eat a 70% plant based foods 10% complex carbs 20% meats
Please share as much info about IMO as you know. 🙏 My sister is suffering with severe trapped gas and abdominal pain. She has tried low FODMAP diet and Bi-Phasic diet plus antibiotics and she is WORSE than she was 9 months ago….when she was diagnosed via breath test. Please help! 🙏💖
This is exactly what’s going on with me right now. I hope she finds a solution soon. It is absolutely miserable! I lost thousands of dollars on doctors who pretend to know what they’re talking about but just leave you hanging. I’m in worse shape now when all of this began over a year ago. I don’t know what to do anymore.☹️
But what if we have SIBO and we suffer from extreme bloating as well as constipation? Doesn’t that mean low-FODMAP would at least help with at least some of the symptoms? Anecdotally, starting low-FODMAP was a huge help for my motility
IMO Sibo is hard to get rid of.
what if i am getting 30-40 grams of fiber daily but still constipated :(
Hi there- trying to find a doctor similarly knowledgeable as you on the subject in Massachusetts. Do you happen to know of any or are you able to do telemedicine here?
I've had amazing results working with Dr D and we ONLY meet online.
Sorry. I'm new here. What is a FODMAP?
What if you have constipation but have hydrogen SIBO?
Magnesium citrate or oxide. Start at 300mg (approx) & increase until you reach a target bowel efficiency - too much & you'll have the scoots. You'll find the level right for you - its safe.
The fact that the two most healthiest vegetables are considered high FODMAP -- asparagus and artichoke -- tells a tale about the myth of a low FODMAP diet 🙏🏿
FODMAP has nothing to do with something being healthy, you dolt. It has to do with certain carbohydrates that don’t break down well in the small intestine. Try doing some actual reading about it. 🤦♀️
She's not saying low FODMAP is a myth. She's saying it's not helpful for constipation/IMO.
@@lisar.7291 words are tricky. I didn't say low fodmap is a myth; but tells a tale of a myth 😲😉😇
Its always a danger to highlight 1-2 foods as the miracle wonders over all others. Variety & balance are far better for health than idolising a few.
