Literally had a replacement Keurig in my Amazon cart before I decided to at least attempt to fix it. Tried a few different videos / howto's before coming across this one. THANK YOU MR FRED! I still don't know what that "massage" technique actually did, but damn if it's not running like new again. This is the reason UA-cam exists.

I am so glad it worked for you, the check valve gets stuck and the massage just loosens it so it can open.

    • @matthewelyash6538
      @matthewelyash6538 2 роки тому

Most water has lime scale in it, (hard water), it builds up on parts and sometimes causes restrictions, or in this case kind of glues the valve shut. "The Massage" broke up this brittle lime scale and allowed the check valve to open like it is supposed to. I suggest using a descaler like Keurig's or others, it really does help, and other places in the Keurig are susceptible to build up that are a lot harder to get to or clean, so it makes sense to spend a little time and coin to help prevent it in the future.

This is my 2nd Keurig coffee maker of this model. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf The first worked fine for more than 2 years, and I could still get a decent cup of coffee out of it if I fiddled with it when I decided to replace it. The problem I had with my first unit was this: When attempting to brew a cup of coffee, the unit would either keep brewing until the coffee was undrinkable or it would not run long enough and the coffee produced was way too strong. I cleaned the unit as best I could but it did not help. So in the end it was just too much trouble to get a good cup of coffee out of it, so I decided to replace it with a new one, which has been working great since I unpacked it.

IT'S JANUARY 2020 NOW AND YOU'RE STILL SAVING PEOPLE MONEY.
Idk how this "massage" technique works, but my Keurig is back up and running!

You’re a GENIUS!! I was ready to order a new Keurig and found your video. You can’t open the housing anymore (2020) without taking off the handle, BUT I DIDN'T HAVE TO!! I just reached my finger into the tiny opening, gave the valve a little nudge, and voila, it worked.
    THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

This was the one my wife had a k140 at work that stopped Brewing one day and she told her boss that I could fix it she said no I'm going to buy a new one so my wife brought it home I watched a bunch of UA-cam videos none of them seem to work until I watch yours and now I have a new Keurig thank you Mr Fred

Thank you Fred. Mine K40 sat in the pantry for a year. The second I touched the valve it started dispensing. You are the reason we make these videos.

Just spent basically an hour looking at other UA-cam videos and failing to fix mine. I figured since the water wasn't even getting close to this valve it wouldn't be the issue. Thank you so much for sharing.

Your video post just saved me a $80 fix it bill or a replacement cost of $175 on a new one. The screws were a severe pain in the ass! It took me about 1-2 minutes to get the valve flowing again but it took me almost an hour and 15 minutes to put thing back together. In the meantime I cracked the water reservoir, so that needs replacement now. Thx a million for the fix it vid!

You just saved me over $100.00! The hardest part was getting the two screws back in, and if I had bigger hands it would have been next to impossible! I scrunched up a small piece of paper towels on both sides of the screws to keep them from falling back in the unit, as it took me several attempts. I have had this one at least 4 years and its going strong again. I actually had 2 issues. 1) The Valve was stuck with calcium deposits as yours was. 2) Coffee grounds were impacted inside the top portion of the needles and plastic tube and I could not have accessed that part without disassembling the top as per your instructions. Even though it is working perfect now, I am letting the Vinegar stay in the valve section (through the descaling method) all day, to help dissolve the dislodged mineral deposits. Thank you again, great video!

I followed these instructions and could see my problem... not the check valve but the part of the tube that goes down to nozzle. I squished it while holding the backwash opening shut and running a cycle. A couple times got all the crud out. Thank you! I think a million of these have been trashed for such an easy repair.

I so wish it was working on mine I have tried all the troubleshooting I found online prior to this one I called the customer service and special teams customer service but no one could assist with my Keurig that was doing the same thing, pumping a little bit of water and then forcing it back through the back flow. My requests almost constant descaling but I have not found any areas or scale buildup IS prohibiting water movement. 😭

THANK YOU!!!! Mr. Fred! I was going to toss our hardly-used Keurig in the dump, but I thought I'd at least look around the internet to see if someone had our problem. First, I talked to Keurig support for about 40 minutes with no results, then I found your UA-cam video with our exact problem. You were very easy to understand and your video was easy to follow. The most problem that I had was trying to get those darn screws back in the correct way. Thanks, again, for saving our Keurig!

Bonanza! I tried a bunch of other fixes I found, nothing worked, including a lengthy call with Keurig customer support. This unit had only been used maybe 6 times, very sporadically. Keurig's solution after a couple of obvious suggestions was to offer me 20% off on a replacement unit! We were about to give up when I found Fred's fix. No other fix I watched made any mention of the check valve. I followed his instructions (putting the screws back in is tricky, FYI), bingo, works perfectly. Thanks Fred!

I lucked out on a deal and bought a $9 Keurig at a close-out store, where what you get is what you get. It was clean and like new in the box, complete with a cord that was still tied up and all the packaging, but no manual. It lit up, but it didn't pump any water. I thought, ah well, you win some, you lose some. But then I found this video. Problem solved in no time! Thanks for making my bargain a true bargain, instead of a waste.

Thanks so much for this video! I have an older Keurig (model K70) and once I took out the two screws, I realized the top of the housing did not come off because of the way the lever overlaps it, and the lever is riveted on so it couldn't be removed. Anyhow, when I pulled the housing away as far as I could, I was able to squeeze the check valve using my pinky fingers inserted through the openings where the lever slides along the sides. I also used the handle of a toothbrush to press down on the top of the check valve. It took a few tries because it wasn't easy to get in there but it finally fixed the problem!

Thank you so much! My mom was freaking out about her coffee maker not working so I had to fix it. I massaged it the first time and it didn’t work but I tried again for longer and it worked wonders!! This was super helpful

Worked like a charm!! Thank you so much🙌🏽 Hardest part was getting those tiny screws back in. I ended up using a pair of tweezers to position the screw so I could use screwdriver to put them back in place. Thanks again!

Fred You are awesome. I had tried the paper clip in the spout, the turkey baster at the reservour and nothing worked. THIS worked flawlessly and in under 10 seconds after I got the cover open i had restored water flow to the nozzle. I also suggest after this is done, run a descaler through it (keurig and others sell it) to break down the stuff you may have still hiding in that valve. So happy I found your posting. ya Get a thumbs up and a subscribe from me! Wife thinks i am a genius! Thanks Again. Matt

This was a great video and I had the exact problem. After words I ran white vinegar through it to descale it as well. WELL DONE !
