Our Keurig was 5 years old and wouldn't pump water after my wife descaled 😢 it. She was going to pitch it, but I told her I would search for a solution on You Tube, and low and behold, your video solved the problem. Thanks and I owe you a cup of coffee 😅!
YOU ARE A GENIUS! We spent over an hour watching other videos and taking everything apart and holding down buttons and opening and closing the lid in certain sequences. Nothing. We had just about given up, and I happen to see this video. We primed the top tube with water, just like your video- AND WE HAVE COFFEE!!!! Thank you!!!!! We thought we were throwing our key ring away and now it WORKS! Thanks!!!!!
Helped saved another one. My friend gave me one he stopped using. Tested it out, lots of noise, but no water coming out. Looked at a dozen videos that were no help. Found your video and it solved the issue. Thanks.
I was just about to toss my Keurig when I can across your video. I followed your steps and my Keurig is back and running like normal! Thank you so much for this video! You’re the real MVP!
Perfect instructions. I loved that you didn't ramble on and on until you get to the point. I went thru 5 videos until I got to yours. I just wanted to say something about this. I hate listening to rambling. I just want a fix.
Finally found the right video by the right man thank you Eric! And to all those engineers at Keurig Really? $$$ spent and total of 3 hours searching UA-cam to fix a clog. Put a big warning on your box "This product WILL clog up on your butt. Put a little sheet of paper in each box to tell the buyer what they should do when you clog up is go to Eric Reid's video on UA-cam and you (with basic skills with a screw driver) can fix this yourself." Warning have someone standing with very small fingers to remove and than reset the screws. Once again THANK YOU Eric
After doing all the things Keurig said to do, your video was a life saver! I went a few steps further and actually opened the check valve and took the small tube toward the front out and cleaned those all out. Machine runs like a dream. You saved me getting another machine. Thank you!
One item to add to this excellent video. If you have cleaned the reservoir valve and check valve as recommended, and it still does not work, check the final bend in the tube before the water heads down the spout. Slip the black ring upward with a flathead screwdriver. The bent tube will pull right off. If water flows this far (it's messy, you can direct it toward a sink) that means the puncture tube heading down is clogged. For some reason, pushing a paper clip up from the bottom won't always clear it, so since you have the cover off anyway (Thanks Eric Reid!) simply clean it from the top down with a paper clip. Viola!
Awsome!!!!!!! I’ve had my Keurig for a very long time with no problems and I really thought it was time for a new one. I watched part one and part two of your videos and solved the problem. I almost threw my Keurig away because of a simple clog. Thanks for your help!
This is my second Keurig Coffee Brewer. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf The first one lasted 6 years. It worked beautifully until the day it didn't. It was hard to go back to the drip coffee for a couple of days while I waited on my Keurig to get here. There is a huge difference in the taste. Keurig makes a really good cup of coffee. This new one is a little different from my old one. I find putting the water filter in was easier than on the old one. Attaching the water reservoir was also a little different but once I figured it out, it too was easier. This new one has the auto off feature but is not programmable like the old one. Only three cup sizes instead of four. The odd thing for me was how much lighter in weight this one is compared to my old one. More plastic and much less metal in the construction of this one. The price is so much less than the original Keurig that I bought and the coffee tastes the same so all in all I am satisfied.
This video helped me fix my Keurig that had been sitting on top of the fridge for 6 months and when I went to use it it said to descale. I followed the steps in this video and it worked!!! 🎉
Hey Eric , this worked perfectly , my machine was working perfectly , I put it away for 6 months , when I went to use it , it had stopped working , I took the valve out, soaked it in hot water and soap , blew into it like you said, rinsed it and it works perfectly now, Thank you very much.
This is it. These are the instructions that worked. I took the advice of at least 3 goofy videos before finally seeing this one, busting out a screw-driver, and making it happen. Thank you.
I've had my Keurig for 6 years. It was not working. I watched both of your video's and followed your instructions. My Keurig is working again. Your video was excellent. Your camera angle made it possible to easily see what you are doing. Thank You for this video.
Thank you! I went through the steps you showed up to the point where you clipped the zip tie. All I did was move the part towards the front of the zip tie towards the front of the machine and it started working again. I ran a mixture of white vinegar and water through it several times, to clean it all out and then ran fresh water through it several times. Everything is working now. Thank you!
Thank you... I went away for two weeks and returned to a rebellious machine who was holding my morning sanity hostage. Your tricks worked, and it seems faster now then it was for a couple years. I was not ready to give up on my tried and true old friend .
BRAVO!!! I was nervous about trying to fix my Keurig and almost tossed it in the trash, but then thought, "What will I lose if I can't fix it...nothing!" I decided to use your video and went exactly by each step, and VOILA, it worked perfectly after I followed your video!!! AWESOME!! Your instructions were easy to follow and your video was great! THANK YOU so much, Eric!
Wonderful instructions including proper top plastic disassembly and re-assembly. Many would say assembling is reverse of dis-assembly but your last minute to secure the plastic cover was invaluable to re-assemble. I have been using my Keurig for long time with filtered water. I believe it was just an air bubble trap. The check valve worked well when I checked the valve by blowing it. Again all is good. Regards.
I hardly comment on videos but felt inclined to do so today. Our small office uses a Keurig quite a few times throughout the day and after 1.5years it stopped working. This tutorial/ trouble shoot video FIXED our problem. I thank you oh so much for this. Your service is greatly appreciated.
I was able to fix my keurig all on my own because of this video. Mine was not exactly the same but this led me to do just what I needed to do! Thank you
I just brought my very new Kerig Coffee ☕️ maker out of storage, barely used it. 😖 And, I found this video right away, and tried to clean it, like you subjected, and OMG 😮 it’s working again. Thank you, a million times over. ❤️
I was really sceptical of this "fix", but I was out of options. Luckily this FIX absolutely worked. My girlfriend is acting like she doesn't really care, but I know she's thrilled to have it working again and genuinely surprised (as am I) that I got it working. Thank you so much for this nice and simple solution!
I followed your clearly explained instructions up until you clipped the wire tie. Instead I left the check valve in place, went right to wiggling it apart from the feed tube. Once I got it apart, I blew into it and water flowed and filled the water tube! Put it all back together and it works again. Thank you!
Eric, You are the man!!!!! I purchased another one from Best Buy and did not throw mine away yet away. Thanks to you I'll be returning it back to Best BUy…10 thumbs up
Thank you Eric for this video. My Keurig wouldn't even allow one drop of water to flow through. I watched your video and was able to fix my Keurig. The water hasn't flowed this fast in a long time. Again, Thank you for posting this video. 😀
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I had a defective pod that spilled grounds into the Keurig and into my next 2 cups of coffee! I thought that piece should come out, but I was afraid to try. You’re my hero!
Thank you soooo much!!!! Watched a ton of videos and was literally one video away from throwing out the machine and this one solved it!! Works like new!!
Eric, Thank you so very much for your awesome video on how to fix your kuerig! Your detailed video did the trick and I have my morning coffee back again! Lifesaver indeed!
Thanks, after many descaling and trying other tips, I was afraid I had a bigger issue until I found this video and one other. I took off the check valve, it looked crusty inside. I blew through it and it seemed sticky. So I sucked vinegar thru it (yes it tastes gross) and soaked it in vinegar overnight, reinstalled the valve this morning and it works perfect. Thank You!
This is one of the best instructional videos I've ever seen for anything. You did a really nice job of explaining what you were doing, and then giving details. (I watched another UA-cam video where they did this, but the guy made it sound like I needed to pull on the tube really hard, which might have actually pulled it out of the heating reservoir. So glad I saw your video first! Nicely done, and thank you for taking the time to document, explained, and film this! I'm actually looking forward to doing this now instead of being nervous or aggravated 😁
Keurig K40. Followed parts 1 and 2. Unit now delivers full 10oz cups. However, I used a brown coffee stirrer to activate the plunger back and forth to its full travel, while submerged. Re-installed the plunger. Used a brush to clean check valve, and again, activating the valve while upside-down. Might take an hour from start to finish, but saved replacement cost of $120.
Very nice clear, well spoken video. The only suggestion would be a steadier camera or one with an optical stabilizer. I've done pretty much everything there is to fix this machine., but I've held off taking it apart like this. I guess I'm going to have to break down and try this. Thanks
Hello Mr. Eric, could you add in this video description the link to your part-1 Keurig Fix video please ? Thank you for having made this one and sharing.
This worked! Thanks, well actually, I didn't even remove the check valve. I opened it up and tried to brew to see if I could see that it was plugged. I didn't see water moving so I squeezed it! That fixed it immediately! Be so careful though if you do this while plugged in, let alone running, since there is a wire right there to the right.
Great FYI video Eric it helped out a lot 👍. So I took it a little further and removed the hold down brace for the hose on the check valve and removed it. Then I used a small brush that we use to clean out our stainless steel straws flexing the elbow and scrubbing it out several times. So it use a small squeeze bottle to flush it out several times. You can also use a turkey baster to flush it out. I cleaned out the whole inside parts and now it works like NEW 👍 Thanks Again Eric
Hay great video, it was the simplest way to fix the issue. A lot of the videos demonstrate the same fix but with a lot of unnecessary steps of disassembly. Now I have my backup coffee maker up and running! THANKS AGAIN
This video is VERY HELPFUL for opening the top of your Keurig to do any fix of the plumbing. For instance, if you accidently remove the water tank/reservoir while brewing, and introduce air into the line and "lose the prime" on your pump. Keurig says never to do this but you can fix it. SYMPTOM: Your Keurig makes the noise like it's filling water from the reservoir, but the water level doesn't change and the noise continues for way too long. WARNING: Only try this fix when the machine has fully cooled! FIX: You'll need a short Philips head screwdriver, a pair of nail clippers, a small zip tie, a mug to brew into, and a towel or paper towel to mop up any spilled water. You'll need to access internal parts by removing the top cover (see this video for helpful step-by-step instructions). After removing the cover, you'll see a clear tube running from a metal chamber about halfway down the back of the machine (the hot water tank), leading up to the K-cup area. This tube is connected to the "check valve" that is cleaned in this video. Loosen the clear tube at the top where it leads TO the check valve - you'll need to cut a small zip tie. (You'll replace this later) Create a vacuum by gently sucking on the end of the tube to pull water from the reservoir into the pump. (This is the same as when you use a syphon.) You should not wind up with water in your mouth since this tube fully empties back into the pump after each brew. (But just in case, this is why you should wait for the water to completely cool!) Reconnect the tube to the check valve (no zip tie yet) and try brewing a cup of plain water (NO K-cup pod). The machine will work fine without the cover for now. The pump should pull water from the reservoir - you'll see the water level go down. If not, disconnect the tube again and try a few more gentle sucks. Once your Keurig is successfully brewing plain water, add a new zip tie, close up the cover, and enjoy your Keurig again!
Thank you. For everyone dealing with this, just go through the easiest to hardest. 1. Water reservoir filter screen 2. Water reservoir check valve 3. Needle bypass holes 4. Mainline check valve (this video). Mine was as simple as removing and emptying the water reservoir and spraying into the bottom with my sink sprayer. That was it.
MY DUDE! Thank you so much! I was maybe one more attempting to diy fix this sucker and then in the trash it was going to go lol This worked after I cleaned all the things and it still wasn’t working
Great video---you should go one step further and show how to actually take the check valve apart. Very eisily done. My valve was so clogged that blowing thru the tube, running water through it, or tapping the end on a hard surface just didn't clear the obstruction. Took the valve completely apart , cleaned under fast flowing faucet, works like new now.
Disassemble Tips: • Use regular size Philips screwdriver (a tad bigger can help); magnetized is recommended. • Be patient; it may take quite a few turns. • Hoses fit tight; zip tie is optional. Reassembly • Hold down on top to stabilize. • Use a magnetized screwdriver to find the screw holes. • Start screws straight into the holes. • If they start straight and snug, keep cranking. (Don’t overthink stripping out the hole.) • Getting screws in straight is the challenge; be confident. • Use medium force; NOT stopping prevents dropping screws again! don’t snatch defeat from the jaws of success. Conclusion • A 30-minute investment, even for a novice. • Risk-reward is big! Odds of success: 95%. • Keep using distilled water. • See you in 2032-7 more years of use. Great job!
This video put me on the right track , But i actually had a clog on the line INTO the Heater. It easily come off, and i was able to just suck the obstructions out. Worked Immediately
I just tried this and other UA-cam stuff to fix ours (which is about 12 years old -- one of the early ones). Didn't work. Finally I took a small, handheld basketball pump -- blew air into the reservoir water input. A few pumps -- and it is working again.
Thank you, mine works bc of you , from doing you're example! Soaking the valve in vinegar for an hour did the trick. !! Thanks for showing step by step.
Our Keurig was getting worse and worse even though we always did the 6 month vinegar treatment as in the manual. Today it stopped working. Because I like tearing into things that aren't working, I was ready to get into it's guts. But I first searched here on UA-cam and sure enough, there were videos on how to fix it. After watching a couple of them, I liked yours because you discussed how exactly to clean the valve. So armed with your information, I unscrewed the top and there it was. It look ok, but when I pinched the output side, water dripped from the brewing nozzle. So, output wasn't clogged. I pinched the input side and nothing. I could see that the water in the valve didn't move. Since I already had tiny wire ties, I unclipped just the one and pulled the valve out. You know what? I looked at the valve and on the bottom there was a TON of black residue. Probably built up over years and years. Blew it out and a bunch when into the sink. Put everything back together. Before screwing the top back on, I just laid it over the mechanism in case of loose tubing. Didn't want to scald myself. Plugged it back in and BAM! It sucked up water fine and once I started the brewing up again, the water just flowed out. And the Keurig was QUIET. It had been getting louder and louder over the years. Especially after the last vinegar treatment about 2 months ago. I was worried that a pump was going out. But now, it acts like a new unit. Thanks for the great video!!!
I was so hopeful this was going to be the solution. My coffee maker is not pushing that last bit of water out of the K-Cup once it's finished brewing. When you take the used cake up out it's still full of hot water and coffee. Unfortunately I've done every single thing I can find on the internet and I think it's just that the pump has become weak. It's time for a new one.
My pump O-rings are on the way out and the pump is starting to get loud, but not all the time! It started after I used CLR to descale! It's over 13 years old though!, but still makes coffee, just loudly! Mine i bought at QVC it's a K79

(You'll replace this later)
Create a vacuum by gently sucking on the end of the tube to pull water from the reservoir into the pump. (This is the same as when you use a syphon.) Reconnect the tube to the check valve (no zip tie yet) and try brewing a cup of plain water (NO K-cup pod).
Thank you so much, Vinegar and hot water worked like a charm for the check valve...
Logic, mechanical knowledge and ingenious inventive intelligence!
I'm blushing!
Nice! Absolutely the right order, from maintenance to repair.
Eric, thanks for the tip. It worked! I like how you recited all the suggestions you tried before that didn't work. Me too.
Thank you so much! That absolutely worked and your directions were very easy to understand, especially with the video.
Great to hear!
Thanks Eric, apart from losing one of the screws into the machine itself , it works again.
Colin Moore me too! 🤦🏻♀️
Me too! Lol
Fixed my problem perfectly. Thank you for saving me $140.
Your video was excellent. Followed your detailed instructions and now my Keurig is in working order again.
Boom!
I’m pretty sure this just fixed 10 year old Keurig. Thanks!!!
This completely fixed my problem. Thanks for saving me from another machine purchase. Heaven sent
Glad I could help!
Thank you! I did this today and now it works great again. I appreciate your video!
Thanks so much! Tried several other things before this without any luck. This solved my problem right away!
Thank you so much. I should’ve saved my old keurig. It was doing the same thing. Worked like a charm
Disassemble
Tips:
• Use regular size Philips screwdriver (a tad bigger can help); magnetized is recommended.
• Be patient; it may take quite a few turns.
• Hoses fit tight; zip tie is optional.
Reassembly
• Hold down on top to stabilize.
• Use a magnetized screwdriver to find the screw holes.
• Start screws straight into the holes.
• If they start straight and snug, keep cranking. (Don’t overthink stripping out the hole.)
• Getting screws in straight is the challenge; be confident.
• Use medium force; NOT stopping prevents dropping screws again! don’t snatch defeat from the jaws of success.
Conclusion
• A 30-minute investment, even for a novice.
• Risk-reward is big! Odds of success: 95%.
• Keep using distilled water.
• See you in 2032-7 more years of use. Great job!
Awesome video, helped fix my Keurig and saved me tons of money. Thanks!!
Thank you very much, I had watched other videos but your's was on the one, after I cleaned the check valve I was making a cup of coffee again - Yes!
NOW it works. Very good directions…
Thank Eric I was getting ready to go buy a new one
This video put me on the right track , But i actually had a clog on the line INTO the Heater. It easily come off, and i was able to just suck the obstructions out. Worked Immediately
Your Instructions were perfect thank you!
I just tried this and other UA-cam stuff to fix ours (which is about 12 years old -- one of the early ones). Didn't work. Finally I took a small, handheld basketball pump -- blew air into the reservoir water input. A few pumps -- and it is working again.
This is what fixed mine.. Thanks brother!
Eric, thank you so much! I was able to fix my machine with your help.
Very helpful. Thankyou for taking the time
Gracias Eric por tu video, perfectamente bien explicado, checare la válvula de mi keurig y te dejaré saber pronto los resultados.
Thank you, mine works bc of you , from doing you're example!
Soaking the valve in vinegar for an hour did the trick. !!

You are a genius and a great demonstration! Thank you
Our Keurig was getting worse and worse even though we always did the 6 month vinegar treatment as in the manual.
Thank you so much. I tried different ways but this one worked for my Keurig!!
Using an electric percolator from the 30s ! Coffee tastes great! Better than that of commercial coffee houses .
My pump O-rings are on the way out and the pump is starting to get loud, but not all the time! It started after I used CLR to descale! It's over 13 years old though!, but still makes coffee, just loudly! Mine i bought at QVC it's a K79
Thank you! This was so helpful - back in action
Saved me having to buy a new keurig!
Omfg thank you so much. I had to fix the coffee maker my clients use. It worked instantly. So I performed surgery and was successful thanks to you
It Worked
Many Thanks
