Could you guys do a video about the process from converting your boat from a private boat to a charter boat? Looking to make the switch just dont know where to begin as far as things like permits, new insurance, etc. love the videos!
Can you elaborate on the secondary communication device you showed in the video? It appeared to be a satelite texting device. Also what power backup unit did you go with?
Dont you only need a capt license if you're going to carry paid passengers or your vessel is over 100 tons? Or do you need one for any commercial fishing boat like a 40 footer?
True, it's good to have these things as a standard Peter, but as you're well aware, many non-commercial boats don't have a life raft, immersion suits, or some of the other items mentioned . Plus, the point of the video is to help people know what's required to get your commercial fishing license, and their corresponding costs. We would have gotten most of these regardless because we do want to be as safe as possible out there. Tight lines!
Good video, thank you for putting it out, I just picked up a 31 Steiger and I am looking for safety gear I would need for offshore use. Boat is being assembled and should be here by May. Fishing out of New Jersey.
@@1beastdemon That's exciting! I'm sure you've seen from the channel here we have a 28 Steiger Chesapeake. Very excited for you! What do you plan to commercial fish for?

Forgot to bring up drill conductor. Great video though. See you in wanchese next year
Excellent addition Bob, so glad you bring that one up. We actually have another class for that scheduled soon. And yes, hope to meet up in Wanchese!
Great info, there are many owners that are unaware of after cooler maintenance.
For sure William. We actually did do a full video on aftercooler replacement as well. Thanks for stopping by!
Thank you guys

You guys are doing great! Excited for the fishing videos this summer. Tautog are biting, are we going to get species specific videos?
Appreciate that Jonathan! Absolutely 💯, lots of species specific once April rolls around. We're chomping at the bit!!
All boats should have a life raft able to fit 2 extra crew then you normally take and 2 extra survival suits regardless of commercial or not
Agreed Sam. Good point.
Where are y’all keeping the boat over winter?
@@jonathantibbs2659 it stays at Pirates Cove in Manteo generally

To be honest you should’ve had all that safety equipment anyway if you’re planning to fish offshore. It’s not unique to a “commercial” operation.
