Easy to add a Dometic 16k btu AC heat pump unit to your bridge deck area. About $5k for the unit, plus the cost of a circulation pump, hose, seacock, and sea strainer. Just need power for it.
I have a sport craft 220 and it has a transom platform. Its a nice feature but it makes the boat porpoise. I am always adjusting the damn trim tab, and when offshore the water and air gets trapped under the platform causing splashing when the boat rocks in the waves.. gets everyone wet and engine all salty
I have a 2016 Key West 239 FS. I love the boat, in most respects it's ideal for the way I like to use it. The one thing I don't like is the bilge access; it's a very small hatch and is awkwardly located. But that's a tradeoff the engineers had to make to provide additional storage and a live well across the transom, so all in all I can't really complain about it too much.
That's one of the main reasons I have a Sportsman 247 bay boat. One reason is the quality build and all Gemlux hardware, the other reason is bilge access. Before I got my first Sportsman in 2019, I looked at several of the larger brand bay boats, almost every one would be laying on the deck with your arm through a small hatch trying to work on anything. That turned me away from several other manufactures.
And the walk through transom door that doesn’t open all the way! But for me, I just keep it shut and step over it. I’d love a 263 with better bilge access and another engine but man - that single engine boat has a lot of practically to it. Pros and cons…
Listening to you it sounds like myself talking about the upkeep of my teeth cover boards and Costa clear curtains LOL I couldn't agree with you more brother! It's beautiful when the teak is right but it is a labor of love and the curtains I am so anal when it comes to the curtains one thing I invested in is the spot zero once you wash them off with the Soapy mitt you can just let them air-dry with zero spots it's a game changer
@saltwaterfishinguniversity docking is a breeze, I can go out fishing by myself if I want. Could not do that with a boat that only drives from upper deck. Having both would be cool for avoiding spray in weather. Also would like more fuel capacity. 1 day I'll get a 40ft 🙂
I was once told when I got into racing automobile racing somebody told me just take your money and throw it in the river well I think that's about the same thing with owning a boat you could take your money and just throw it in the river
1 the boat is never big enough. 2 nerve has enough fuel. 3 costs too much to run. My personal boat I have gone to a 19 cc just because I fish solo 99% of the time and when I can I'm going full send. My 19 has 85 gal of gas and with the 140 Suzuki there is nowhere I can't go on the right day.
@@saltwaterfishinguniversity I also fish alone. Albemarle 242 with a single 5.0. 70 gallons to the canyon and back. Only downfall is I have to wear rain gear.
That teak is so much work! Used to fish a Jim Smith with teak like that. That Blackwell is a beautiful hull!
Appreciate that Kenny. Yep. Capt. Ron has his hands full maintaining that stuff!

There was a time "Retriever" didn't have a genset at all. We did try to get previous owner to go a little bigger.
When's Capt Ron gonna start dream boat build series ?? He is a talented carpenter I'm sure he can build it!!!!
Good point!!!

Yep, frustrating for sure 👍

Yep. I have a 23’ Sea Hunt with the exact same issue. Access is a you-know-what!!
Key West 210 bay reef is the same way

Speechless is the pregnant pelican, beautiful and bulbous
😄😄😄😄
Wondering what you use to clean the water spots off the enclosure? I have spots I can’t get off and I’m afraid to scratch them

@@saltwaterfishinguniversity ha ha. I’m playing. I love my boat but it’s never enough. Have 24 ft sea pro. Now I want the 26.

The only perfect boat is the boat your friend owns that you get invited out on that you don't have to pay for or fix.
🤣🤣🤣
Do you guys use your teaser reels a lot? If so in what situations. And do you wish you had electric teaser reels instead?
We do use them a lot. Meat fish, bill fish, all of it.
A diluted white vinaigar wipe with a damp rag will keep those curtains fresh for years!
Great boat- Fighting chair is useless. Sell it back to who you bought it from. Takes up too much room on your back deck.*
