You can change vocation at any moment if you meet 2 conditions : Go to the vocation guild, and possess enough points to unlock it the first time you select it.
That's encouraged by the fact that every vocation has unique passives that transter to any other vocation. And this is also available for your main pawn.

ah so the clone is a skill from that, the archer skill they say is from this teaching system is also a clone of a skill from the original game under a different name. the original was called either gamble draw, the original skill, or its more powerful upgrade called great gamble. this has me curious about how many of the teachings will be returning skills, that take more work to get so they have less need to nerf them if they aren't simply leveling the vocation, and how many of them will be entirely new skills that weren't in dd1.
ah so you're making this mistake too, limiting to one save is an issue but it's not because we will be locked out of vocations. we could access every vocation without issue in the first game so there is no reason for them to lock us you of any of them or give us a cap of ones we learn in the game. this was never stated so it stands to reason that we will have access to every vocation if we pursue them, no matter how many there end up being. yes, there is an incentive of stat growth for finding the vocation you want as soon as possible but that's it.
the reason they want 1 save file is server reasons so only so many pawns will be updating so much. yes, a single save is an issue if we can't go back if the game glitches us out of stuff but if that doesn't happen it's less of an issue. if you miss a thing that you want to do, there's likely going to be new game plus again.
do not trust ign's wording, they've been caught changing the translation or taking things out of context for clicks like the whole npc yandere shit of them fighting over you for little reason like just hanging out with someone else. for 1 thing it was said in a romantic context and 2 it was mostly a joke with the whole "don't fight over me" thing. the warrior thing is also likely embelished for click bait social media attention. the line about Itsuno saying other open worlds just suck is also false, even if the goal is to make a better open world, he was not that unprofessional. in short, fuck ign for botching this. i hope Capcom learns form this utter failure to not give them coverage ever again, rather they should do it themselves with theor onw payed translators that they can fire if they fuck up like that.
