I always believed that when the player killed themselves with the Godsbane, their pawn instead fuses with the countless infinite other versions of themselves from the other worlds. It is said that pawns will slowly but surely start to look more and more like their masters, and adopt their mannerisms. So what we see at the end is them fully becoming their master, effectively replacing them. Considering after you start a NG+ the next Seneschal is your previous Arisen, I assumed that your Arisen did not die when stabbing themselves with the Godsbane, but instead inserting the blade themselves is part of the process of becoming the Seneschal in full. (Just like how the previous Seneschal already had the Godsbane in their body, and removed it from their chest to offer it to you) Meaning that likely a Seneschal can't kill themselves using the Godsbane, instead somebody else needs to kill them with it to transfer the role. As well as the role only being transferred in full when somebody inserts the blade into themselves. That is why the cycle was also never broken, but simply perpetuated. At least that's my look on things.
I just got into the first game just as the second is releasing. Very underrated in my opinion. This video does a great job of explaining the lore and story. Thank you!
Thx to both of you! Great video, I stopped it multiple times to create that locig in my head just to get an accurate visual of it later in that video! Kind of depressing and lovely at the same time how this fictional world works 🥲
The way the people talk to you in the return to peace ending, as well as the way it says game over, makes me think it was a test and that this isn’t the real world you’re going back to.
Very well done, thank you! Played DDDA but never finished it because it's so janky it just feels like a chore after a while. I've completed DD2's Sovran and True endings however and was utterly confused about parts of this lore and Cycle. This cleared most of it up nicely. But this also means DD2 is missing epic endings from the first game and never even bothers to elaborate.
I've gotten to the point I play all my games on graphics on PS5. I'm okay with my single player games only being 30 fps on console. It honestly only takes about 20 minutes for my eyes to get used to it. It's jarring at first but I've played games at much lower fps growing up. I know what it's like to be spoiled with all the resolutions and frame rates. But growing up that wasn't an option. And my TV does an okay job making the game look smoother than it actually is with it's various settings
I've put like 60 hours into this game and I'm relatively new, so I wanted to get caught up... Then I heard your voice and I was like oh wow that's so soothing and smooth, I like this! Wait a minute... Then I realized who it was and I've put THOUSANDS of hours into Destiny, now I'm juiced to see if you go deep into this game like you do with Destiny!
I just came here to get a story recap after I just completed the game and wanted to know if I missed anything. Turns out, the story is just paper thin.
I don't understand this system that needs breaking. Like.. but why though? If the previous dude wants death and has the sword, why doesn't he just do it? I would almost understand if like, a meteor was gonna hit the earth if there was no Sceneshal or something. This is effectively the button from Lost.
I just played dark arisen at the end some fellow I don't remember meeting was my love interest to give up it was meant to be Quina the guy was caxton was wondering why my armourer went missing in grand soren still I'm raging don't know how he was the one I love most poor Quina left
It’s just their duty. I’m assuming like the seneschal, finding an arisen is a chance for you to be released from this cycle since they’ll take your place
@@simonsonlyfan8600Okay, so did this video really not explain that the Arisen BECOMES THE DRAGON?? Haven’t watched this yet but that’s a huge part of the cycle
I feel so bad for AyTee. A full week and he's gotten 2 subs lol..... If you read this comment and you have a sec, give that dude a sub. He was at 76 subs and now he's at 78. 79 after I post this comment.
i dont know , i was good after the dragon .. i dont know why capcom cant give me credits and let me go. when you play this game longer as 40h ... its getting boring. same monsters , same bosses , same mechanics , same smaltalk. and the final boss is a absolout joke. thanks to me that i played the first game , that i already had and discovered that im not interessted to play the second game ... NO THANKS ! and besides of the dragons talk ... the whole story is .... what story again ? hearth stolen , arisen , go fight the dragon and never mind what you choose , you get the bad ending - great. and i dont even saw anything of the endgame gear .... this game is a absolout trash. standard bows , daggers , swords ,armor .... capcom realy knows how to motivate people. anyway , thank you for the video and showing me that i can uninstall the game. im not into farming.

Omg thank you, from everything i've read this is *the* only thing that makes sense.

Me getting the Duke Ending.
"That chick, the single random lady who I accidently talked to much in town? I barely know her. Go ahead."
Simp ending for you.
Awesome Video. Glad I could help with the cutscenes!
Thanks again! Much appreciated

Real nice recap, thanks!

Better than all of destiny, bro
Haha I'm playing helldivers granblue and now dd2 because I've given up on d2 having played since vanila destiny I'm tired of waiting and hoping
Haven’t played destiny in years. What’s so bad about light fall my dudes?
Well the final shape was good. At least they turned it around.
Thank you for this video man, I just completed DD1 and bought DD2, can't wait!
I have the physical copy, and it has been amazing on the PS5. The 30 fps is actually not a problem.

wait DD1 only runs 30fps on a PS5?
Great job breaking it down! Gonna play Dragons Dogma 2 now 👍 🐉
Dd 2 must have. Dlc as good as dark arisen
Gret video. Thank you.

excelent recap!
Keep em coming 💪🏽
Thank you for reminding me of that dreaded cycle...lol
Looks like their character was modeled after Koudelka. If so, awesome.
Evaze? DD2? Whats going on here? …pretty cool
I just came here to get a story recap after I just completed the game and wanted to know if I missed anything.
Turns out, the story is just paper thin.
Not every game needs to be an epic to be fun. The story for skyrim was paper thin too
it is and gameplay was poor too.

I still don’t get what the dragons are getting out of this heart yanking?
The previous arisen/god being sent it to find someone with the will needed to be arisen
It’s just their duty. I’m assuming like the seneschal, finding an arisen is a chance for you to be released from this cycle since they’ll take your place
So Dragons are just following the first Arisan's orders... Like a pawn?

Great game
Bam
The new game plus makes no sense
The game seems to imply that you break the cycle but you meet your last character.
IT IS I

Better story than Skyrim

The New one is a remake of the original gonna be cool to see how much they've changed tho.
It's not a remake

I wouldn’t put much effort into dragons dogma. The story is complete nonsense. It’s all about the combat.
story is nonsense? My guy... why?
Wtf dude you are too dumbed down to understand the depth of the story
bro story is actually really interesting and complex
