He was a dam good baller he was a dam good shooter loved watching him play and played well with no matter who he played with his name was great for him
Guarding MJ in the 93 finals Thunder Dan did the best job he could at that time, when you watch videos from those finals MJ was always 2 steps ahead of Majerie on his drives to the hoop. That's why they switched up and put Kevin Johnson on MJ during certain times of a game,he had the foot speed to stop MJ's penetrations, but,MJ could shoot over Kevin or post him up.
Dan Majerle is one of a kind type of player who embrace his role as a member of the Phoenix Suns. If he was playing in the NBA today, he would be averaging 20 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 3 steals per game. He will kill the league with his 3-point shooting ability and his hustle as a great defender. He played during Jordan era, so the Suns are regretting for ever booing him.
I'm a knicks fan but man I like the way the Magnificent Thunderman played he was so good my hat goes off to Dan Majerle and thank you for this video he is an unsung hero he should have got a ring
Dude! Seriously : this is a PHENOMENAL channel!! 😆 Thank you SOOO much for covering Thunder Dan! The 90-'93 Suns are my 3rd favorite teams all time behind the '92 Knicks and' 96 Bulls! Any chance of a Charles Oakley or John Starks video? 🤔 🤞
Yea Suns fans booed at the time he was drafted, but ask any Suns fan who their favorite Suns player of all time is and I can guarantee that at least 90 percent of fans will say Thunder Dan.
I remember when the Suns traded him for Hot Rod Williams because they felt they needed a big to get a chip. To this day it is the worst trade in team history or at least at the very top of the list.
Yup. That's a big reason why (along with injuries) they dropped off from 62, 56 and 59 wins from 1993-95 down to 41 in 1996. He fit perfectly with that team.
3 Dan Majerle ....Thunder Dan ⛈️ was without a doubt one of my favorite players of all time .. He was the original Volume 3 point shooter with range...
Central Michigan University, not Universit of, I'm an alum! I moved up to a small town north of Traverse City in 1987, and the area was agog over Thunder Dan being on the '88 Olympic team.
Yeah I'm getting old lol thunder Dan was the man he just couldn't buy a bucket in the clutch M.J definitely did something to him mentally Mike took his heart 😮
Apparently you didn't watch him play. Saying Mike did something to him mentally, and he wasn't a clutch shooter. Back then he was considered clutch, and he did fine went OK n to play for dream team 2.
Love your videos can you do a video on Manu Ginobili a forgotten hall of famer who made the euro step popular and was an all star caliber player not a lot knew just how dangerous he was
Remember Basketball Digest used to take two players, same position, and ask Who's Better? A great one would have been Dan Majerle or Sarunas Marciulionis! How about a Raimondas Sarunas Mar-ci-U-li-oinis video?
He's my favorite shooting guard of the 90's. Of course someone like Reggie Miller was greater than him, but I loved those Suns, their jerseys, the Thunder Dan nickname...
I literally have the worlds biggest Dan majerle basketball card collection, I know this cause I have every card of him and nobody else collected his cards
27:42 In Majerle's prime, he could have challenged and possibly blocked that shot. Beaten up and battered by injuries by this point, he could barely get off the ground, to challenge Allan Houston's shot.
raja bell jason terry and ron artest weren't above average players and didn't equal dan majerle since he faced legends hakeem olajuwon and michael jordan
I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. Japanese-American and male. I HATED Dan Majerle! Larry Bird, Dan Majerle, Justin Verlander, and Alex Bregman are athletes who I HATE the most! But, here's why: Dan Majerle KILLED the Sonics and Blazers. Just KILLED the Blazers. He hit 7/10 3-Pointers in Game 1 vs. Portland in 1994-95. As much as I HATE Dan Majerle, Tyrone Corbin and Rick Fox, for CHURCH league, my game most resembled them: In my prime, I was a 16 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block per game small forward.
Majerle was popular on the Miami Heat as well.
Thunder Dan was on of my favorites players a kid. KJ and Dan as a Hell of a combination
He would’ve been perfect in todays league
25 ppg in today's weak NBA
@lilpenny1982 ..25 a game easily if he shoots 8 3s a game..
@@thengyang5537 No hand-checking and no touching - easy 25 ppg. Dan can take it to the rack too before his back injury.
@@lilpenny1982Facts
@@lilpenny1982Exactly. He had the keen ability to play tight, aggressive defense without having to play dirty.
With names like Jordan, Miller, Drexler, Dumars and Richmond, this guy was STILL a 3-time all-star in the 90's. Very underrated!
What are you talking about?
@@johnpablo7716 Reading is fundamental. It says very clearly what I'm talking about.

I'll never forget that amazing sun's vs. bulls series. He played lights out.
I had me a Phoenix Suns Starter jacket in the 5th grade 😂
Those Phoenix Western All-Star uniforms was fiya.
Majerle was a sharpshooter & good defender, gets too much criticism for his job guarding Jordan in 93 finals.
Helluva an athlete too.
Guarding MJ in the 93 finals Thunder Dan did the best job he could at that time, when you watch videos from those finals MJ was always 2 steps ahead of Majerie on his drives to the hoop. @@kerry-j4mDumas was their best bet and most effective option but they waited to late to put him on MJ.
Fried !!!
you can swap different defenders out at Mike but there isn't much stopping that show.
Hopefully One Day You Can Make A Rudy Gay Video Was A Very Flashy Bucket In His Prime And Is One Of The Most Underrated Clutch Players

Thunder Dan. One of the jerseys I have in my collection. I admired him more for his toughness and intensity than his scoring or shooting prowess.
I’ve been asking for Thunder Dan for a few weeks. Thanks for making and posting the video!
The Bulls Netflix series did Majerle bad. People forget he was guarding the greatest player of all time at his (Jordan's) peak physical abilities.
Series is about MJs ego trip, so no love for Dan, but this video gives him justice.
Central Michigan University, not Universit of, I'm an alum! I moved up to a small town north of Traverse City in 1987, and the area was agog over Thunder Dan being on the '88 Olympic team.
LG! Thunder Dan!

Love that clip of Dan Majerle and Chris Mullin @14:28 speaking of which you got cover Chris Mullin my opinion a top 50 and top 75 snub
EXCELLENT video. 👏🏻
Klay Thompson, to some extent, continues the glorious traditions of Thunder Dan.
I remember Dr. Jack Ramsey screaming "Thun-der!!!!" during Heat telecast whenever Majerle hit a deep 3 from Broward County.
great video......what about doing a video on Kiki VanDeWeghe??????
He was Klay Thompson with the 3 point shot and defense
Great video , Majerle was that dude !!!
I remember thunder Dan he was so good
Jeff Hornacek is a another great player for the suns and jazz
Wild to see so much later and Suns really isn't title contestants with KD, any more than they were with Dan Majerle
Dam that was a very nice team wow and I watched them the NBA was great back then the sun's oh yeah.
Respect to that owner or gm for having his back tho 💪⛏️
He had an awesome career
Thunder Dan was one of my favorite players. Because like you mentioned "he was a hard working guy." Dan looks like your typical neighbor 😂 but taller
Loved the series. How about some Bobby Jones?
Hell yea
Thunder Dan would be a perennial all star in today's era...
Great Jordan stopper.

As a Lakers fan, I used to hate seeing him come off the bench because he was so scrappy and disruptive defensively. He was a problem.
Now he's coaching at Grand canyon University and they're doing pretty good
Dream team two.....Thais guy was a monster
Awwww….the bad ass white boy I called Majorlee for most of my teens as I didn’t know the pronunciation. Bad man. 💯
I dont remember Cleveland but remember Miami that team was pretty good
Thunder Dan
Coming off the bench to make an all star team is impressive.
Chuck Kj and Majerle ninja NBA jam team lol
Thunder Dan 👍
We need a Terry Porter doc
He's my favorite shooting guard of the 90's. Of course someone like Reggie Miller was greater than him, but I loved those Suns, their jerseys, the Thunder Dan nickname...
Reggie couldn’t pass, rebound, or play D. Dude just ran off screens all game. Not sure how you figure he was a better player than Majerle overall.
@@famousmortimer7933 Miller is the greatest 3 point shooter of his era. He's still 4th all time.

Thunder DAN!
Thunder Dan was a very scrapy physical player. The 90s was the best time for the NBA.
John majerle was a great player. I remember
Thunder dan candy bars were the shit
How about more early 90s Suns players?
Now this is a Guy they never mention much
Josh Smith next
His #9 should be retired in Phoenix NOW
Thunder Dan was the real deal!!
Michael Jordan just tore Majerle up in the 93 finals especially in Game 4. Jordan blew past Majerle like 4 times in the 2nd quarter.
Dan was nice
all us suns fans were pissed when he was traded..........for hotrod williams, ooofff
God is real thank you
