For me, Mariah is the best singer who ever lived. No one has as many nuances in their voice as her. Nobody uses that many vocal resources.

You most DEFINITELY have heard Mariah songs other than her Xmas songs being as she’s top 3 best selling female artists of all time and has the most #1s out of any solo artist in history, she has 19. U have probably heard “we belong together”, “fantasy”, “always be my baby”, “touch my body”, “obsessed”, and “it’s a wrap”. Some of these thru tiktok because some were ENORMOUS trending sounds on tiktok and social media, and others thru the radio and stores because these are like her biggest hits IN THE US ofc. So assuming ur from the US, you’ve definitely heard most of these and possibly even more by her. It also depends on ur age, she was the biggest artist of the 90s, so much so to where she was awarded artist of the decade and EVEN MILLENNIUM, and she had song of the decade too AND the longest running #1 song of all time until recently when a song called “old town road” in 2019 broke that record.

To write so many songs that are not only well written but also sound good is just crazy. Even her non popular hits are amazingly well written. Esp compared to the garbage nowadays. And even the most famous songwriter on the internet ATM like Taylor writes garbage now. Too bad her voice simply overpowers this unique talent of hers such that most only know her by her voice and not her songwriting.
Magic happens when you put two of the greatest voices of all time together. Spectacular.

We were gifted two of the greatest collaborations of all time in 97 and 98 when Whitney and Mariah did this duet, and Celine Dion and Barbra Streisand did Tell Him together. Mariah was 3 inches taller than Whitney, I've always wondered if Whitney wore her heels and Mariah wore a long dress and flat shoes. The media wanted to make a competition between the two and there never was and didn't need to be. Mariah already loved Whitney when she broke onto the music scene. If you want another powerhouse female pairing, watch Whitney and Cece Winans sing a gospel style version of Bridge Over Troubled Waters. Those two women regarded each other as sisters and it shows there, they were just having fun singing together and we were allowed to watch.
Prince of Egypt is an amazing movie. Disney tried their best to kill it at the box office by releasing The Little Mermaid on its opening day. I definitely recommend it.
There is a video of them performing this live on Oprah. It’s absolutely beautiful. Probably not worth reacting to now you’ve done this, but well worth a watch. I also think you’d love some live Mariah. She really has an insane voice and range.

You should read up about her and react to her first single Vision of Love LIVE on GMA back in 1990 when she was 20 and start your discovery ❤ Mariah has the most number 1 songs for a solo artist in history, only with the Beatles having 1 more number 1 than her. She writes and co- composes and produces 90% of her stuff. ❤
For me, I was more moved by the song being sung at the end of the movie by whoever the voice actors were than these powerhouse voices trying to outdo each other. This is a very spiritual animated movie that commands respect.

Babyface did an immaculate job on vocal production. He arranged it so it never sounded like a competition. He shined on Whitney’s power while shining on Mariah’s range. The bridge is especially well thought out. Cuz the fist line Mariah sings lower than Whitney. The next line she harmonizes higher than her. Whitney singing the line “resilient voice” was also meaningful.
Their live performances of this at The Oscars and live on Oprah were epic!

This is such a moving duet, it deserves all the awards and the love. It has this intangible uplifting vibe because these two women were actually believers in what they were singing about as women of faith, who also happen to be two of the best vocalists EVER 💕You should definitely watch the movie, regardless of your spiritual or religious beliefs the story and the music are beautiful and full of emotion, "The Prince Of Egypt" is an animated masterpiece.

My first ever seeing this video and it brought tears to my eyes as well, but for a slightly different reason. My wife was Whintey Houstons double, from Nyeri in Kenya, I showed her mother a photo of Witney Houston together with Kevin Costner from the movie the Bodyguard , she was sure it was her daughter. She was only 22 and the local doctors gave her 2 yrs to live, as she had HIV, neither of us new at the time. I didnt, so it must have been from her previous boyfriend, I then watched Freddy Mercury go thought what he did, and I was helpless, Mentally she had a problem coping, and we split ,but not because of me, I would have given her every drop of my blood. It's rare i can watch any video of her without the tears rolling as they did here, and its 35yrs ago now. Whitney of course was her Idol, Such a wasted talent

@@andrese9805 that’s false asf lmao. First off, she didn’t lip in her prime, meaning she also didn’t sing over prerecorded tracks until the late 90s. As for the dubbed accusations, yes her biggest concerts are often times dubbed but there’s literal undubbed versions on UA-cam of almost every dubbed performance, and 9/10 times they sound either identical or the undubbed might even be BETTER because u can hear her true projection when singing live in an arena, whereas u don’t rlly get that feeling with the dubbed. This happens with her songs performed at both Madison Square Garden in 1995 and Tokyo Dome in 1996. So ur wrong, try again lmao

I'd like to suggest a song that I think will blow you away, especially if you watch the official music video: "Congratulations" by the late Vesta Williams. Vesta was a protege of Chaka Khan with an amazing voice, range, and gift for interpreting a song (plus a great sense of humor as well). Her signature song, "Congratulations" which was quite a hit for her in the R & B arena, is heartbreaking, but truly beautiful. Sadly, Vesta passed away at an early age. I still miss her but am still uplifted by her music.

True and Mariah proves her immense vocal resources and creativity and GOD GIVEN GIFT with her magical angelic whistles at the end in the background. It is undeniable to hear the soul and gospel and jazz and blues in their divine voices.
Whitney's technique was undoubtedly better than Mariah's, though. Just saying. Mariah isn't that amazing of a belter, and her agility is far overstated. And I love Mariah.
