Whitney's voice was soo phenomenal, it's sad that she's gone.
Whitney's tone is very rich, full-bodied, and could be considered "better". It's beautiful, but I still prefer Mariah because of the various textures in her voice and there's just something so angelic about her tone.

I am so blessed to have been a live to hear Whitney Houston sing. Saw her in concert a few times and she was flawless. God put all kind if goodness in her. I use to watch her sing and just couldn't believe all of that talent was coming out of that little body. My God!She was just flawless and beautiful on top of that. I miss her dearly. No one is/was a close match to Whitney.

Thank you for this reaction Andy. I also miss Whitney's beautiful voice, such a loss for the world. I pass her cemetery everyday, going to and from work and I stop in to pay respects at her grave a few times a year. She is buried next to her daughter and her father, it's very sad to see two woman who have left the world way before their times. Thank goodness we do have her recordings and videos to remind us of her wonderful talent.
I loved how this took me back to that performance. It also made me cry because I miss Whitney’s voice so much, she truly was an inspiration for me and for so many people ❤️

"Late into a night of rehearsals on the evening before the broadcast, it was discovered, by Houston, that the arrangement wasn’t working, and the rehearsal ground to a halt. (Houston had missed the first day of rehearsal and had shown up so late the next day that her run-through with Carey was pushed to the end of the session.) With none of the musicians in the hall (including Bill Conti, the longtime conductor of Oscars ceremony) able to riddle out a solution, Houston identified the offending chords for the orchestra and created a new arrangement on the spot. The room watched her in awe.

I love Mariah she will always be my favorite vocalist and Whitney will always be my 2nd. Those 2 are my fav vocalists of all time and I love them both and the best thing about them is no other singers could ever blend with a Mariah or Whitney. Only Whitney and Mariah can blend with each other. In another performance of them doing this duet. I could barely tell which one was who because they sound and blend in some parts together. Andy, you have a partner, as I am not ashamed or shy to admit that every time I hears her voice or worse yet see her videos I come close to tears, and indeed sometimes shed a few!! There I'd something on her voice that touches my very soul. I believe it is because she had the total package as a singer - unmatched tone, amazing control, captivating emptive ability and crystal clear lyrical phrasing, distinct resonance and timbre, among others. In a nutshell, everything in abundance!! There can be no doubt she was divinely gifted and in a class all by herself - a few notches above other singers. I truly believe that!! No other singer affects me the way Whitney does!!

Brianna Jones i think its just whitney’s voice that was overpowering Mariah’s making this performance less perfect than the Oprah one and the engineers didn’t consider to fix that by turning whitney’s mic down a little bit or turning up mariah instead. But except for that little part where mariah wasn’t audible it was amazing and the orchestration and everything else was more touching than the Oprah performance imo
