My first car was an ‘82 Datsun Maxima 5 speed manual with that huge inline 6. Some much fun to drive. Essentially a 280z with 4 doors and some more weight than the 280. My father bought it for me as my first car in ‘91 for $800 with 182,000 miles. My college roommate totaled it in ‘94 on a grocery run.
Btw, the voice says “door is open” NOT door is ajar, “lights are on”, and I think “key is in the ignition” if you open the door with the key in the off position. I don’t recall it saying anything else
Oh man, what a haul (especially with all the extras). It's like if Japan was described a fox body Ford Ltd through a spotty telephone line. Also, I can smell that garage through the screen 😌
I literally just pullled the running engine and manual gearbox from my cream puff ‘84 Maxima. I don’t need it where I’m going🤷🏼♂️ Also named mine “Grandma’s Couch”🤣
Super jealous of that 810 Maxima... in high school 1990, my first car was an '81. Unfortunately automatic transmission and the voice warning system had a much smaller vocabulary that year, just a Japanese woman asking me to "Please turn off the lights" when I left them on. Still have that module somewhere, I always swore I would install it in another car.
Similar, but different- inherited an Audi A8L (D2) Quattro in Ebony Pearl. Took the old, aftermarket wheels off & put Konig Hypergrams on, along with MTS Technik progressive rate springs, Bilstein struts, and replaced the 50 pound "Banana" rear muffler with a Magnaflow muffler with double-walled stainless steel tips. I've had several people ask about it, guys take pictures of it, and my younger one calls it her "Slavic mafia machine." Except for the trim & rims, the car is all blacked-out, so she is not wrong. Yes, get that Stude running
I have an 82 with a L28ET swap and non turbo 5 speed. Good cars wish i still had my old 84 that i paid $200 for and drove home, later on got slammed on coilovers with 14x7. Thats a Maxima by the way looks to be a early 83 with the 80 mph speedometer the mid 83 and 84 had the 125 mph speedometer. The 810 name was dropped in 82, 910 is the chassis.
@DeanofMachines Yes all of the 81-84 is technically a 910 in all the Vins they have G910 if it's a Sedan. The 810 model is from the 77-80 years, 810 was used for 81-82 as well. It was either a 810 Deluxe or 810 Maxima.
@@DeanofMachines when we got it there was a bad valve and a rod knock, slipping clutch. For less than the shop mechanic wanted to swap head, do clutch and leave rod knock, we got the whole motor swapped to a imported l28. it flew on that tall gearing especially hitting 3rd
Beautiful cars very nice! We subscribed!
Welcome to the channel! Usually we do the Volvo thing around here but we dabble in rotaries and other JDM on occasion so sit back and enjoy!
That video was a lot of fun.
Pushing a car with “love, thoughts and prayers” haha. Deep
Doing everything I can to help!

It just seems like a great combination! Big straight 6 and a manual transmission would be a hoot to drive around.
@@SigvaldsAmazon That's interesting. Now I want to go play with the thing and hear all the voices.
Hey Deano, this car, brought back a memory, at one time in my life I owned an 86 Maxims, bad car and bad times!😉
Chuck in a Maxima?! I can't believe it!!! Was it as cool as this one?

It definitely gives early 80s LTD or Capri vibes. My buddy is a lucky man!!
BITD, Car and Driver magazine described it as an "Audi 200SX". I always thought that was pretty accurate.
@@adamv242 That's funny to think. I guess it makes sense though. Buddy says he'll be doing some suspension mods and make it rip!

I wonder if those voice modules pop up on ebay. Now I want to hunt for one.
@@DeanofMachines It would be a pretty sweet addition to one of your 240s.

The old Audi's are really cool. I have dirty dreams of Audi ownership but I'm not sure I ever will!
@@DeanofMachines I got a D4 4L TT one in the deal as well, but nobody else in the house wants to drive it.
@@olikat8 That's truly a shame. I like the idea of Audi/VW but I'm not sure I'll own another ever again.
