- It is believed that we should raise our soft palate to help us sing higher notes which are more resonant. But is it REALLY the best way to sing high notes, and is the conventional advice always the best?
In this video, I show you a different soft palate position that you can use to sing those beautiful high notes.
The best singers in the world are definitely applying this soft palate position to their own singing to produce their beautiful high notes, whether they realise it or not.
But the power of the perfect soft palate position explained here will be 100x more powerful when you can apply it whilst maintaining a high Complete Mixed Voice™ Placement.

Yeah they always say "raise the soft palate" but I've rarely heard "be careful not to raise it too high." Thanks for this!
Dude can I just say you have absolutely no idea how helpful your videos have been in my vocal journey man. Your video on the mix voice placement was what helped me unlock my mixed voice and completely changed the game for my singing forever!! Thank you so much
I love your throat ❤
You are by far the best in the game of UA-cam, I have seen hundreds of vocal coaches and sometimes don’t really learn anything new,but with you I bet that even advanced will learn something, thanks man.
Thanks
If I could give you 5 thumbs up, i would. This is brilliant and thank you for the clear and detailed explanation.
Gosh i love people who actually think when they learn instead of just absorbing knowledge. Very helpful video. please keep making more like this. ill stay tuned.
he did it so easy :0
please jay jae could you make a video on good breath how use diaphragme for good support i have found my good placement for complete mix voice but i have still problem with breathing plz Help
Middle. Open throat the palate is not so forced up that it closes the nasal cavity. The demo has nice resonance.
No entiendo bien el Ingles pero te entiendo. 😅😀 Eres muy elocuente 👍
🙌 gracias
Hey Jae! Thanks for such an informative video again.
I'm very curious about the physical status when you say "placement"
I've heard there are two different muscle control the vocal cords, one is more engaged in chest(low) voice, the other one is for falsetto(head) register. And they say when a beginner breaks his voice into falsetto through passagio is because the muscle control low voice suddenly lost control so it sounds like a break.
So is the "high placement" physically means "To let these two muscles engaged in from low notes to high notes, and two muscles can transfer their tightness smoothly?"
Is that what really happened?
Epifaringe/nasofaringe
I still did not get how to manipulate and mechanically raise and lower the pallet or muscles should engage the pallet. Please explain..
lowered soft pallete
Raising soft palate too much, messed up my singing for about a year. Then after that I sang a little too nasal for about a year, lol
LOL yes it happens when you make an OVER adjustment. Balance between the 2 is key 🔥
The tube is only attached to mouth, not the nose. So of course, having air leaked through nose will be easier. You can even sing with mouth shut that way. I think that's not a realistic simulation of what happened when singing high notes. But I agree that, raising soft palate will make high notes harder, since now your stomach needs to work higher to compensate for closed nasal passage to get the same amount of air out(especially for i, u vowel), but you get more volume, which is desired in classical singing.
As you raise your pitch , the ah vowel needs to be modified and placed in the soft pallet. This is the point where I’m at, so I’ll be playing around with it later. Thanks.
little question ,should i sing with soft palate semi open all the song or just for the high notes? and how know when i'm sing if my soft palate is open?
For all the notes. I'm focusing on high notes in this video because it's what most people are confused about with respect to the debate on soft palate position
@@JayJaeOfficial it was that I think thanks
Great! I just needed this confirmation!!! Amazing video!!! Of you could do video about singer Dimash?!?
back to your original hairstyle hahahaha
👀
I just don’t understand why you stopped making videos, at least put up some songs that you sang recently.
Your face like son purs player😅
Too long air..
I enjoyed the video, but the use of the F-word right at the end seems rather inappropriate and a bit shocking after such a nice presentation.
