When he say breath into the back. I know he know what he talking about! I think JJ and Sir Michael Trimble are the only legit vocal coach in UA-cam. Breathing into lowerback, Vowel placement in the back of the throat. That is the technique of old masters like Enrico Caruso.

Actually a few other vocal coaches have recently been saying breathe into the back. Like Charlie from big brain singer UA-cam channel.

I just touched my lowest rib cage and the top of my head bone and it’s about the same space as yours. I do breathe better when I use my back, but I usually try to use it in combination with my front and sides. So I guess I’ll stick with just my back.

good vocal closure or adducted, we do not need tons of air...breathing is an organic process.if the vocal cords are not adducted and leak, the air escapes so easily.

You’re not singing from your back, just feeling the air flow into your back when you inhale.

Another useful video. Thank you! I have heard of some other ways to breathe, e.g. there is a breathing they tend to call 'anal breathing' :). Sounds funny but it actually makes you take in air further down around your pelvic bones and 'root' yourself (I think this is how they referred to it). Have you heard of that and if yes, what do you think?
