Good day. i'm having the same engine as the one on your video. also had bend valves remove and refit the head according to your video after assembling everything try to start but there is no spark coming from the spark plug wires.
Hello Gary , Great video , big thumbs up ! just one question , what is the torque settings for the cam shaft cover bolts ?i didnt see any indication on the video for them
I replace 2 new tensioners and just before the aligning tip on the tensioner reach the mark the belt becomes loose. The timing belt is correct. What can be the problem?
Mooi Videos Oom Gary, just found your channel today and subscribed. Two questions for this particular video, is this the BAH 1.6l engine? and also can the old head bolts be re used or do i need to get new ones seeing that it is stretch bolts? Please do keep the videos coming
Top dead centre (TDC) is when the piston reaches its uppermost point of travel, for every 360-degree revolution of the crank gear, the cam gear will only turn 180 degrees because it is half the size of the crank gear. The best way to find TDC on the crank: remove no.1 spark plug use a long thin metal object, like a screwdriver, and insert it into the plug hole until it touches the top of the piston slowly turn the crank with a 19mm spanner at the front gear, until the piston reaches the uppermost point, this you will see on the travel of the thin metal object (screwdriver) you are using. I hope this explanation helps you out.

Hello again sir... Just wanted to ask a quick question... I mistakenly had my timing belt off by one tooth, started the car and it stalled immediately, will this bend any valves at all? And I just make the most expensive mistake of my life?
Good day sir i just bought new head cylinder with new valves and new lifter installed.but my car the moment it pass 100km/h speed it start to over head and oil start coming from oil filler cap.what can be the problem
It could be a few things, but it sounds like you are getting too much crankcase pressure, therefore the oil leaking from the cap, check the PCV Valve Unit, it is a round plastic object on the top of the cylinder head, which is connected to the intake manifold, via a hard plastic pipe, it be your root cause.
Gary hello,,,my fuel is not getting power,,,,which relay is 4 fuel pump,,,under ther steering i got 3 relay ,,,r 100 ,r 53 r 404,,,,wich relay is 4 fuel pump? Please
Morning sir. I have the same car and wanna set the timinng. Is it okay for cylinder 1 and cylinder 4 pistons to be up or only cylinder 1 must be up? My Top Dead Center makes both cylinder 1 and cylinder 4 pistons to be up. Is this okay or something is wrong?
@@vehiclemaintenanceandrepai3790 so when putting the crank on v2 and cam on its mark. You rotate the engine and at 180 dagrees cylinders 2 and 3 are at tdc and the engine does not rotate
I swear i learned more from this video than actual mechanic school

Hello Gary great video,,,,first cylinder sud be up wen timming?
That is correct at TDC (top dead centre), Rabe
Good day sir am looking into replacing 2bent valves...I would like to know which parts would you advice me to replace while at it?...THANK YOU.
Hi Malusi, my advice is to replace all valves, guides and valve stem seals while you have the cylinder head stripped off.
I replace 2 new tensioners and just before the aligning tip on the tensioner reach the mark the belt becomes loose. The timing belt is correct. What can be the problem?
Thx very helpful clips to the point
Thanks for the support Lawrence

So my cambelt has snapped, is there a marker on the crank pulley that tells me its right? How do I know that I am not 180° out?

How many km did the car drive after this? Also bend valves on my polo would just like to know if it will last a long time after fixing it
The car is still running, almost 2 years now, George the trick is to do the job correctly the 1st time round.
Hello again sir... Just wanted to ask a quick question... I mistakenly had my timing belt off by one tooth, started the car and it stalled immediately, will this bend any valves at all? And I just make the most expensive mistake of my life?
It is possible you bent valves, reset the belt correctly, and then do a compression test. I hope all goes well, Good Luck
Is there no tdc mark on the crankshaft?
Yes
howsit, what is the firing order on these engines if i may ask. thank you in advance
There is no distributor here as this system uses cam and crank sensors to keep the engine in time, Emile, but the firing order would be 1342

If you want your engine works fine and for Long time... never use gasket maker the way he did...
Set the timing and crank gets stuck on tdc, only on 2nd 3rd cylinders
