Exactly! Looking back, she was what really made the show complete. The absolute beauty her and the incredible character of Seven always had me wanting more. I would like to see what the favourite characters would look like ranked by most popular. I wonder where she would fit in? Pretty hard toss up for me between Spock, Seven and Data.
Everyone of the actors in Voyager were outstanding! I loved this series more than any of the others, except the original. There was so many emotions and stories explored in this series. Very multidimensional which I loved! Bravo!
I love Jeri Ryan! So perfect for the role. So different from her "poker face" persona on screen as 7 of 9. I love her sense of humor as well. Terrific actress. definitely classic. Thanks for posting this. Mike in Fresno, Ca.
Probably one of the most well written characters I've watched in the Star Trek series (aside from Sisko, still my favorite to this day!). She definitely had the "appeal" they wanted, but she threw herself into the character which really sold it for us. And she was so well received alot of us wanted to see her in Picard when it was announced and we got another 3 seasons of Seven! Well done. Well done indeed!
Seven's look has become iconic in my opinion, not just the tight suits but the perfect touches of Borg tech that remained. The eye piece, the bit on the side, the hand/glove thing. I don't picture the character without any of it, I can't.
i always had a soft spot for voyager and when seven arrived for me there was a spock like persona, sometimes janeway had a kirk feel to her in later seasons and i was watching an episode other day and there was this great scen from the episode hope and fear towards the end where janeway and seven came across as a kirk and spock of old and was a pleasure to watch
Seven of nine? This actress is definately 10 of 10 in my book...;-) It´s been awhile since watched Star Trek Voyager. I remember it for it´´s strong, well written, multidimensional (as opposed to "flat") -and brilliantly portrayed characters like 7/9-..) who´s also a very complex and deep character...
In every interview I've seen Jeri Ryan in she has been very pleasant, had a great sense of humor and came across as quite intelligent. She had become one of my favorite actors (actress isn't PC anymore) as soon as she donned that silver suit. But it was her approach to a 2-dimensional character's constant growth that made her unique. Never will forget the time she came on the Tonight Show with that LBD (little black dress) slit up the side. She looked SPECTACULAR!!! And the interview was fun and interesting.
around 8:50 (which was filmed after the series finale) I feel like you can see Jeri Ryan getting genuinely emotional, as if she were thinking about the animosity between her and Kate. I hate to keep bringing it up since i believe they have squashed it, but it's just sad to know that so many actors experiences with such an iconic franshise was tainted by the issues Kate had with Jeri that weren't even er fault.
I think season 4, they were ready to give Kess a shot at being the "hot chick" until they fired her so Wang could keep his job instead. Imagine the ship with both 7 and an adult Kess, that's what we were denied.
😆😁 Need to find the Kate Mulgrew interview where she openly says that she did NOT want or NEED Jeri Ryan on the show to satisfy teenage boys watching the show. She felt the show was strong without her because she was just eye candy.🤣
It's too bad Seven's early fandom was based mostly on her looks. Yes, she is super hot, duh. Jeri Ryan could have looked any way, Seven would have been just as strong a character. Loving her in Picard.
Do you * really know* that "most" of her fan base is based off of her looks? I, for one, grew up loving seven, and it was because of her looks, but not in the same way you mean; it was because she looked like I did, and yet commanded a respect that I, a blonde female never taken seriously in the sciences etc, dreamed of having. And other, related reasons. I doubt I'm alone, but idk how many others reported to YOU about it 😏 🖖 - #borgKween
Star Trek: Voyager became my favourite of all the series. However, the first 3 seasons were littered with dull episodes and such a strong sense of familiarity that it didn't feel different enough from the series that came before it. It became so frustrating to watch that I had decided to give up on it. Then, the last episode of season 3 brought "scorpion". A brilliant, well written and tense 2 part episode. Once 7 of 9 was brought in as part of the crew, it changed everything. She was smart, difficult and was that "outsider" character that audiences love to see. Brilliant casting with Jeri Ryan in the lead. I was very dismayed to hear of the poor treatment Jeri received on set, particularly from Kate Mulgrew. She absolutely should have known better and behaved better.
Im on kate mulgrew's side actually. Here comes in this tall skinny blonde with huge tits stealing the whole show. How would you feel if you threw away your whole career to take the lead part in a nerdy tv show just for a big boobed bombshell to steal all your thunder?
@@nepntzerZer The truth of the matter is, the first 3 seasons were kinda lam. The addition of 7of9's character added the "outsider" perspective the audience needed. I couldn't care less about what Jeri Ryan looks like or how big her boobs are. I cared that she helped add some drama to a show that was sadly lacking in that department. I'm not quite sure I like how they've written her for Picard, but make no mistake...7of9 will go down as one of the greatest Star Trek characters ever conceived.
Women hate each other. Its scientifically proven that women compete in almost any circumstance. Even if its friendly competition, they may fall into their cave women ways and get catty.
Watching this after finding out the real reason the queen keeps assimilating more and more people I can understand why Seven was so desperate to get back to the collective because shes in withdrawal like shes a drug addict and I feel such sympathy now
God it’s so painful to watch Jeri Ryan come up with increasingly diplomatic ways to be like “HI YES THIS COSTUME IS KILLING ME,” it makes me so mad what they did to her
Not bad for a character originally derided by some cynical STAR TREK fans as "Thirty-Eight of Double D"! She may have been costumed and makeup-painted for the male gaze, but the writers and the actress between them made what could have just been "eye candy" into a fully-drawn, riveting (no pun intended) character. Brava to Jeri and the crew-and thanks to Kurtzman & Co. for bringing her back for STAR TREK: PICARD. Oh, and Harry Kim: When a woman who looks like that asks you if you wish to copulate, you say, "YES!!!" ;-)
Kate had nothing to worry about . Both girls are SMOKIN hot but the two characters they played were done with amazing talent from both. Egos always lurk but neither had anything to fear from the other. The individuality of each character was played to the max . Kudos to both. Kate could grow up a bit.
@@dalemiller4503 she did actually. She almost got written out of the show they actually filmed a death scene but for some reason the producers/writers went back on it. It must of been a hard pill to swallow.

it's kind of annoying that seven was really incredibly sexy, but you forgot about the sexiness cos the part was so good and stories so well written. usually the sexiness distracts you from the stories, in this case the stories distract you from the sexiness.
Attn Harry Kim: when 7 asks you if you wish to copulate, you don't exclaim "no!" as if you're horrified at the idea....particularly when in actuality that's all you've been thinking about every time you see her. I wish G. Wang had insisted they rewrite that part of the script. He could have said something like, "well yes I think it would be interesting to experiment with all of the possible permutations of that and it might help me to enhance my overall level of efficiency." At least the writers could have let him have some fun with her before she dumped him as not being worthy of her.
It does seem that way, but let's face it our world is misogynistic judging women on looks whilst men don't suffer the same level of scrutiny. It undoubtedly feeds into women competing.
It's interesting the difference of borg on Voyager vs Borg on TNG. Where TNG borg were more a race of their own and Voyager borg were more assimilated from other species. So if you got disconnected from the hive there was a chance you could regain your independence on voyager but on TNG you were still just borg.
I always thought it was more or less that on TNG the Borg were a mysterious group to be feared so they didn't try to get to close or learn to much about them other than how to destroy them but Dr. Crusher and Geordi kind of discovered that they can still think as a separate mind from the collective. Seven was different from the start. She was the Borg chosen to speak as a representative for all Borg. She had more personality for some reason so she wasn't just another drone but every other Borg seemed like just another drone same as on TNG. Only when Chikotay landed on that planet did we see Borg that had regained their separate personalities in the "Unity" episode. I'm just curious that after that episodes there's 2 collectives of Borg. One the main collective and the rouge collective that's willing to attack and destroy the main collective Borg. Seven acts more like the Rouge collective than she acts like Hue did when he was separated from the collective in TNG.
Mulgrew was totally jealous of Jeri Ryan. Totally unprofessional. The fact is that Ryan was simply a better actor, more interesting character, and the only real reason Star Trek Voyager made it to the big budget genre. Mulgrew's character was boring and repetitive. Considering they wrote a part for a female captain, they should have seriously used a good female actor. Also, even though Mulgrew was writing the script, her character came across as totally stupid. How many time can you get locked out of your transporters, control panels and virtually everything else before any captain with half a brain, would put in security codes that couldn't be overwritten by almost any idiot trying to steal something from their ship. How about a simple rotating code-word between her an her first officer every time there was an away mission where someone impersonated the away team? Don't you also think that after having a multitude of people getting killed every time the ship was bounced around the captain would say, "Hey, how about some seat belts?" Mulgrew's responses, facial expressions, and reactions were so repetitive they could hav just replaced her with a Borg and the acting would have been more interesting and less predictable. From the first episode when 7-of-9 got introduced, they should have just killed off Mulgrew's character and brought in a better actor and kept focus on 7-of-9. There is one saving grace though... now that Voyager is on Netflix you can skip through every episode that focuses on Janeway and go straight to the episodes that focus predominately on 7-of-9. It was truly a shame that Geneviève Bujold didn't take the role. At least they would have had a decent actor for the job. Good riddance to Mulgrew. They shouldn't even let her talk at Star Trek conventions unless it's a panel of judges that can have fun ridiculing her bad acting. If they had expanded even more on Jeri Ryan, the series could have gone on for several more year at least.
Well, that's your opinion, to each their own. I don't think I would've been even aired if Genevieve was the Captain. I love Captain Janeway and how Kate Mulgrew portrayed her. 7 of 9 was a wonderfully written, strong character and their relationship until the end was one of the things that progressed very well in the series. It is mentioned later on that the working environment was horrible for Jeri Ryan which is very sad and unfortunate because she seems like a lovely woman but despite of that, that did not show through. Exquisite acting from both of them, because they really looked like a loving and respecting mother and daughter when seeing them together in the show. In my humble opinion.
Mulgrew may be diffycult, but she has great range. Her relationship with Seven, was very engaging. She carried the show until Jeri arrived, and then they carried it together.

the inflections are entirely different; Jeri is far less formal, more playful.
It really isn't.
Are you all kidding???? 7 of 9 is the BIGGEST and the BEST character, ever. The Doctor played by Robert Picardo is the 2nd.
