      @@deanwoodford2017 I disagree, I watched that whole interview with a smile on my face, he was nice and easy going with the pair. Plus I think the pair were pleasantly surprised to get interviewed by someone who didn't go full Star Trek nerd on them. It's a shame that the interview was not longer and they could have discussed some of Patrick's earlier film work on Excalibur and Dune.

      I have been a huge fan of Sir Patrick Stewart's character Jean Luc Picard since watching star trek as a kid in the 90's and rewatching the whole series start to finish now and I find it hilarious that until I heard him mention him taking a stroll with his wife just now, I had thought for decades that Patrick Stewart was gay! WIFE?! Why did I think he was gay for all these years?! Can someone help answer this for me? I thought he was dating Ian McKellen so that could be the reason LOL

    • @Scripture-Man

      Ridiculous comments. The show didn't suddenly change when Seven arrived, nor did it become more mature in tone. Voyager was actually the most consistent Trek show of them all, with great episodes from the beginning, unlike other Trek series which had a poor first couple of seasons.
      Seven was certainly a great character who brought a lot to the show, and it could be argued that the show had many of its best episodes in the 4th and 5th seasons after she joined, but I'd say the big boost to the show was the evolution of the Doctor, who in season 4 now had his mobile emitter so could get involved in more interesting storylines.
      Some of the most successful stories are centered around the Doctor such as "Tinker Tenor", or "Blink of en Eye" - or even episodes where the Doctor is removed from Voyager entirely such as "Living Witness" and "Message In A Bottle".
      I won't deny that Kes was a poor character. And Seven (and the Borg aspect of the show) is certainly PART of why Voyager was great. But she didn't "save a terrible show" as these comments are suggesting.

    • @megavolt67
      @megavolt67 2 місяці тому +2

      @@Scripture-Man Consistent as in formulaic since the Berman formula was so well established by then. TNG had its growing pains but that was part of what made it more interesting seeing how great it became (and it's my all time favorite TV series). DS9 took "inspiration" from Babylon 5 and expanded upon the Cardassian and Bajoran stuff from TNG but it did eventually figure out its own identity.
      Voyager for the first few seasons felt like the B-sides of TNG (and once again opened with Bajor-related drama). That's not a bad thing per se, but Seven helped the show to develop more of a noticeable sheen. She was sympathetic while still being a badass. And looking attractive doesn't hurt. I agree that the evolution of the Doctor helped as well and I figure most people would say those two were the most interesting characters.
      It is curious though that the producers of both DS9 and Voyager felt the need to make big fourth season changes in attempts to kindle more interest. Both shows never reached TNG levels of success and I think part of the reason is that people felt a bit fatigued by the Berman formula post-TNG, though being so far from the late 90's, people now wish we had thoughtful and yet grounded sci-fi like that again.

    Years ago, about 10-15 years after "The Next Generation" ended my wife and I attended a church for the first or second time. The service had just begun when a couple entered and sat down behind us. I turned around to make sure our coats, which were draped over the back of our chairs, were not in their way. I took a double take as the man was a dead ringer for Patrick Stewart. When the service ended we turned around to get our coats and we introduced ourselves to this couple. They didn't look like likely Star Trek fans to me. I then started to ask the man "Has anyone ever . . . .?" and they both cut me off and said in unison "all the time!" We attended that church for years and saw them in town from time to time. Sometimes I would just say to him, "well captain, how is your day?"

    She had a typical studied laugh. I would say, after all the years among humans....

      She's likely nervious, she's always been spectacular with her fans.

    I love how Ryan and Stewart get along. They've got a really good natural chemistry.
