    Devs: "the major build update next week is going to push out the intended final version of the airburst launcher and mines, or rather, push out a bunch of fixes for some issues with both of them. so the version you're using right now doesn't have those fixes attached. it wasn't guaranteed whether the community would get access to the two stratagems before the next patch, so the current version in the game is in a playable state but likely to perform differently after we move into the next patch"

    The problem now is that the proximity fuse responds to any target, including what you call it, teammates, batteries, consoles, and so on. If you want to shoot, you have to make sure there are no friendly things in front of you to be safe.

      @@mrluiz6420 it does not get set off by trees or landscape. I did extensive testing and some trees have large hitboxes that it collides with but if you stand under a tree and fire horizontally, it does not get set off. Similarly, if you aim far enough above the treetops, it does not get set off even in proximity to the tree. Mind you, if it gets within like 10 meters of an enemy it will go off immediately, so this should set it off if trees are setting off the prox fuse.
      What WILL set off the prox fuse are ammo boxes and other consumables (stims, grenades, etc) but NOT samples or dropped sample containers. It will also be set off by hellpods, sentries, mines, and explosive barrels. Support weapons and backpacks do NOT set it off. I have not tested it against helldivers as I only tested it solo.
      I hope they change it so that at the very least it's not set off by hellpods or ammo boxes. It would be really nice if they made it so that it only gets set off by enemies, but even if they do that, you will still have to check your minimap before firing to make sure there aren't any close hidden enemies that could set it off too soon.

      It's a proximity sensor, not an enemy detector. Of course it detonates when it gets close to things, that's the entire point.

      @@Venatix Yeah, thing is as dumb as devs can be I usually can see the reasoning behind what they do, even if it's a stupid reason.
      Here I have absolutely no idea why they did that. This leaked version of the weapon had been in the game files since release pretty much, I've played it a month ago and it felt amazing. Then they actively put in some work to change it into this broken mess we have now, and then in a week they are (aparently) releasing the version that had been leaked months ago? Like... what?!

      I want to think they did it on purpose as an excuse for the canon to say that this weapon, after all, is a prototype, and there is no better way to test something like this than in real combat, which leads to brave democratic sacrifices to fix the weapon's flaws.​@@neziaojuara1768

    Long story short, the Airburst can't tell which is a terrain & which is an enemy. So it'll explode on the first closest thing in its radius, and that is the floor.

    What would really make this gun shine is if you could toggle between a safe arming distance (in meters). I think I'd rather if my shot turned out to be a dud rather than it wiping the whole team because brushed up against a bush 30 meters away.
    I'd set it slightly above 50 meters.

    The leak was on an older build of Helldivers 2. The leak is how it used to work before we got access to it. They've obviously tuned its power down so that it cannot decimate heavies but messed up somewhere along the way making it blow up in our face. The patched version will probably feature the same damage as our current weapon, but with a fixed proximity fuse.

      the leaked version was probably filmed with a damage multiplier modify. that's how many of them are filmed, to get more attention.

    1:45 Notice how the Titan Aggros but doesn't immediately start holding W in the direction of the player... That's usually an indicator that it's severely wounded and it's choosing to run away instead of fighting the player. It's normally extremely rare to damage a Titan enough to get it to run because usually it's dead by 2 ATs to the face or 500 KG before it reaches that state.

    Well that definitely more like it. As of right now, it's so wonky that the leaf of a branch can set it off too early and kill the team. Every time I use it I have to jump back to avoid becoming another statistic, and that's with heavy armor and the fortified perk. If true, then this is a lot better. Still, I was curious about those anti-tank mines ;(

    I feel like the way AH gonna spin it is by saying the airburst we're using is the prototype batch from the R&D team in PENTA. Now that the prototype is secured. The SE's R&D team has successfully tuned/tweaked the airburst release cluster in a more controlled and expectable behaviour

    In it's current state it's only a good initiator. But if your teammates are anywhere near you it also triggers the proxy fuse immediately.
    So if your gonna use it separate your self and get some distance from an obj your team is completing and go to work.

    Showed a friend how it "worked" earlier, 3-4 team-kills and 2-3 self-kills later he KNEW how it worked :p
    If it's ever tuned to explode only on impact (when shot low) or at the least only when passing an enemy (rather than at max range detection from the front which seems to detect further than it explodes) it'll be an interesting support/alternative AoE to the eagle-cluster for ambushes and POi clearing.

    Believe it or not, in the leaks are the same as the one everyone using right, even the one right using are buffed one compared to the leaks, i shoot in real open space without ANYTHING around so i can avoid getting blow up
    also shooting up and when it explode mid-air it fly away from center where it exploded it will cover larger area, that's a great way to teamkill

    The only major problem is that the fuse/proximity sensor is just garbage, it detonates when it detects a leaf and tend to explode right on your face cuz the hitbox touched the ground
    It would make sense it having a prox sensor since it was made as a AA gun, but thats just to much, a timer before proximity explosion would be a good one

    This is such a reasonable looking weapon. Considering the amount of ammo it carries, it should be able to take out every heavy unit with some degree of success. On the bug side, 1 shot to a charger, and 3 to a bile titan seems fair to me considering that it also has solid crowd control.

    If the launcher and mines were bugged and had issues, then why did AH even put them into a major order? Could we not have been given a different major order that didn't involve the launcher/AT mines until they were finished? What is the thought process behind purposefully adding bugged weapons to the game? It is frustrating to be enjoying this game so much with so many questionable decisions happening, in the most positive live service game environment we've seen yet. /end rant

    Hot take:
    Some AAA company that hates helldivers 2 success "bought" a dev in Arrowhead to be their sleeping agent. When new weapon is releasing - this dev quickly makes untraceable changes in files so that every new stratagem/weapon will be broken in some way.😂
    And Arrowhead counter-spy department knows that but they can't admit they can't find this agent😂 so they say things like "it was indended to be bad". "Your meta is boring so we added 50% damage to flamethrower"🤣🤣🤣
    Because if things aren't like that - they are just super toxic and trying to make everything their way not listening to feedback.

    I honestly thought the weapon worked pretty well when you stop trying to use it like a shotgun. I have noticed that it doesn't count all kills. Despite not having good armor pen it does hurt heavy armored targets due to its explosives nature. Im sure given the right angle you can one or two shot some heavy targets with this.

      The small explosions struggle heavily on medium armour, to the point where I believe them to have light armour pen. I base this on the fact that it rarely killed devastators while I tested it (but it did do damage, probably on their legs and heads since those are light armour). It can also kill Hulks by exploding their batteries but it's rare. Gunships and Dropships seem to be immune to it. Against the bugs you have fewer medium armour units but it still felt lackluster. Shriekers will aggressively push you, making the proximity fuse kill you, always. Given the extreme risk you put yourself in while using this weapon and the disappointing rewards, it has no use as of now.

      @@OTOMAGIC Im fairly sure that explosive damage deals 50% damage even if the armor pen is not high enough. That said I feel the reason why targets like devastators do not seem harmed by the weapon is because of their size. A devastator may only get hit by one or two bomblets where as a hulk or tank due to their larger size may take several more bomblet hits. Many bot units have multiple health bars. Usually a body and a weak spot one and the bomblets could be spreading out that damage between multiple hp pools. One of the big problems to optimizing the use of a fragmentation or airburst weapon is we do not know the scatter pattern. If we did we could aim the weapon better. We also have no idea what kind of damage fall off we are seeing. Sadly that kind of testing going to have to wait until they fix the proxy fuse.

    you can get the rockets to go further by not Releasing your trigger input after launching the rocket they seem to detonate when you release the trigger right now

      It's placebo, it works exactly the same regardless of whether or not you hold the trigger. It just reacts to literally every entity near its path like mines, hellpods, ammo boxes, exploding bushes etc.

    I don't get why every new weapon has 12 bugs attached with it. I don't get why devs can't play test their content before releasing it. And I REALLY don't get why all these weapons leak and work well but as soon as they get released they have more bugs than the actual bugs on the planet. It's starting to get really annoying now.

      it has a proximity trigger, so it blows up whenever its near enemies or some terrain. Right now its bugged so it will blow up in your face sometimes

    Having gotten it to work by getting my teammates to piss off so they don’t set off the fuse, I like it a lot and can’t wait for it to be fixed, it’s a bit gambly with the scatter but rolling good and just erasing the enemy squad is great, I’ve even managed to shoot down drop ships when enough bombs tagging the same engine

    This was meant for the hive nest. If you have a small petrol unit then you should add it from a far distance. That was the intended use besides shooting the air units.

    Basically trash weapon:
    1. Can't destroy armored
    2. Can't even shoot down Botship and Gunship
    3. Slow af reload even slower than Recoilless
    4. Can't resupply via normal ammo box
    5. No you can't convinced me that this weapon is only for unarmored grunts and small bugs that's bullshit
    Yeah Expendable, Recoilless, and Quassar are still better than this crap. Now where the fck is my auto-cannon Mechs???

    This is why datamining and leakages are really unhealthy for this game's longevity. The damn thing was broken. It could two shot bile titans and one shot chargers. Something that's designed to take out LARGE group of enemies shouldn't also be the best weapon in dealing with high value armored elites, that's the entire schtick of the cluster bomb eagle strike.
    The devs already said the fuse is broken and will get resolved upon the official release but because players are establishing unrealistic expectations based upon unfinished content, everyone here thinks these are intentional nerfs to make the weapon more difficult to handle. They actually DID nerf the weapon but only with its damage, nothing to do with its proximity detonation.
    This community is ass sometimes. I really think Arrowhead needs to just shut down the r/Helldiversleaks subreddit for good. It's not good for discourse.

    The leak shows how it never will be, because the devs want you to use the right weapon for the right work and the airburst is mainly thought for anti air and not to one shoot everything in 10-20 m around the explosion
    I hate that everyone is sad because they can't have the one op weapon because everyone has its pros and cons (maybe some more than other but still)

      Wasting support slot for a thing that can only shot air units that may not be present on the mission at all is just dumb and no one would use this especially considering the fact you dont know beforehand what types of unit will be present.
      Plus it does seems to blow up in your face ocasionally even if you using it as intended.

      The leaked version doesn't instakill you when you're in the blast radius of the explosion. The in-game one does. You can see this in the video.

    At no point was it said that this is how it's supposed to work. Stop making shit up. If anything, the fuse should have a shorter proxy fuse.

      It’s very possible that the build of the launcher in this video is what is supposed to be patched in next week. Guess we’ll find out. Clearly the launcher is working better here than it is currently in the game.
