Mashallah, this Mufti unlike others in the West has the knowledge of the wide spectrum of Sufism which ranges from permissable all the way to shirk and kufr, while others say all of what they do is misguidance. He is correct there are Tariqa's which are purely based on sunnah and proper aqeedah and others lead astray.

Mufti made some good points, but the things he's speaking of are by no means mainstream Sufism. It would be very easy to find Sufis who reject all of what the Shaykh condemned, not only that but you find major scholars who agreed with certain stances on things often labelled as being "deviant Sufism". For example ibn Hajar Asqualani supported celebrating the mawlid, meanwhile you can find Sufis such as the Deobandis who regard it as bidah. When it comes to Tsawwuff, major Sufi critics such as Ibn Taymiyyah himself, is that Sufism is from the sunnah and from the Salaf. Ibn Taymiyya (661 - 728 AH) “Tasawwuf has realities and states of experience which they talk about in their science. Some of it is that the Sufi is that one who purifies himself from anything which distracts him from the remembrance of Allah and who will be so filled up with knowledge of the heart and knowledge of the mind to the point that the value of gold and stones will be the same to him. And Tasawwuf is safeguarding the precious meanings and leaving behind the call to fame and vanity in order to reach the state of Truthfulness, because the best of humans after the prophets are the Siddiqeen, as Allah mentioned them in the verse: “(And all who obey Allah and the Apostle) are in the company of those on whom is the grace of Allah: of the prophets, the sincere lovers of truth, the martyrs and the righteous; Ah! what a beautiful fellowship.” (an-Nisa’, 69,70) “…some people criticised Sufiyya and Tasawwuf and they said they were innovators, out of the Sunnah, but the truth is they are striving in Allah’s obedience [mujtahidin fi ta’at-illahij, as others of Allah’s People strove in Allah’s obedience. If ur dream according to shariah your dream is correct, u can act upon it. Sometimes if ur heart doesn't have ability to recieve the dream , then may shaitaan induces his voice which makes u understand that against to shariah. So there u should kept silent.
And Imam Malik said a similar thing. He also said do not be a fiqhi without practising tasawwuf or you will be corrupted. Imam Shafi'i in his poetry made a strong warning and advised the ummah to be both a sufi and fiqhi and not one without the other.

Abdelrahman Elagami You wash your hands thrice. Then wash your private parts with your left hand. Then make wudhu as normal. Then once you finish wudhu, pour water over the head three times, pour water over the left shoulder then the right shoulder. I think this is the best thing to do because it is what the prophet used to do. The prophet said "He who does not follow my Sunnah is not from me". So I think it's best to be safe and follow what he did. However don't take my word for it, always go around and ask how to make wudhu, start with your local imam.

Assalamu alakum, I have a question, my dad sent me to a Turkish islamic boarding school in London, the do a practice called rabita, they say we connect our hearts with nuur and it's a connection from Allah, to the prophet Mohammad pbuh, to a sheikh, then to us and light enters our heart, the school wants me to do this but it sounds very weird as I have never heard anything like this before, I have a feeling this is shirk or something.
Sufism is literally Following the Quran, Sunnah, Hadith and going beyond the ordinary person in terms of doing extra dhikr and connecting with Allah. That’s all that Sufism is. Sufism isn’t a label, many Muslims are Sufi without being labelled Sufi.

All real Sufi orders follow Imam Ashari or Imam Maturidi in Creed and Imam Abu Hanifa, Imam Malik, Imam Shafii or Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal in fiqh( jurisprudence). Anyone out of this is not part of Ahle Sunnah Wal Jamaah, such as the Salafi heretics or Rafdhi Shia
The biggest problem with the Sufi thinking is what is completely alien to Ahlus-Sunnah in the understanding of who Allah is. As with the Ashari's and Maturidi's, they put the intellect first as a means to understand the religion. The people of Sunnah put the Kitaab and Authentic Hadeeth to formulate the understanding of who Allah is. In this regard you could argue that the Sufi, has major errors because his principal aqeedah and basic understanding of Tawheed is non-existent. Therefore, claims of ittibah are meaningless.
You're right Deen isn't about claims that's why you have to know what you're talking about before you say it.You should ask about and study from scholars who know the 'aqida Ahlus Sunnah (Ash'aris/Maturidis) instead of its opponents then you will realize that the so called Salafis just parrot what their teachers say regarding the Ash'aris and Maturidis without knowledge.

In most of the the world Sufism has pagan like practices and sometimes even combines pagan rituals into Islam. This "young man" has a bachelors and masters degree from the U of medina and currently studying to get his PHD in America, so I think he has an idea about what hes talking about.
Don't worry I've studied in madinah university aswell having a degree doesn't necessarily indicate to the level of knowledge you have this is a western mentality and only came into the muslim world in recent 80years ijazah is the correct terminology and ijazah is 100% credit. Now you also have to look which area he studied if he studied hadith he should stick to that not end up in other areas where he could easily end up in errors. A person of hadith maybe a pharmacist by has not a doctor he can't tell you how to apply a faqih can a person who for example has studied Shariah for 10 20 years. It's not a certificate you pick up in 8 years and then start talking and giving verdicts. The Ulama of the past studied for 20 40 years there whole life and will stick there speech to what they have studied. Now in regards to Sufis Tasawwuf you will be shocked to know that majority of the scholars where people of Tasawwuf so my point is there are alot of different groups tariqa of sufis alot of them nowadays are misguided but originally weren't and also till today there are proper sufis who are guided. It's a very vast topic and needs to be very well studies and pout forwa3d to not commit wrongdoings to anyone and therefore fall into sin. Allahu alem

Imam Sha'rani said in his Mizanul Kubra that you cannot practice suffism until you must fiqh because fiqh will keep you away from innovation.

You wash your hands thrice. Then wash your private parts with your left hand. Then make wudhu as normal. Then once you finish wudhu, pour water over the head three times, pour water over the left shoulder then the right shoulder. I think this is the best thing to do because it is what the prophet used to do. The prophet said "He who does not follow my Sunnah is not from me". So I think it's best to be safe and follow what he did. However don't take my word for it, always go around and ask how to make wudhu, start with your local imam.

Assalamu alakum, I have a question, my dad sent me to a Turkish islamic boarding school in London, the do a practice called rabita, they say we connect our hearts with nuur and it's a connection from Allah, to the prophet Mohammad pbuh, to a sheikh, then to us and light enters our heart, the school wants me to do this but it sounds very weird as I have never heard anything like this before, I have a feeling this is shirk or something.

The biggest problem with the Sufi thinking is what is completely alien to Ahlus-Sunnah in the understanding of who Allah is. As with the Ashari's and Maturidi's, they put the intellect first as a means to understand the religion. The people of Sunnah put the Kitaab and Authentic Hadeeth to formulate the understanding of who Allah is. In this regard you could argue that the Sufi, has major errors because his principal aqeedah and basic understanding of Tawheed is non-existent. Therefore, claims of ittibah are meaningless.

Don't worry I've studied in madinah university aswell having a degree doesn't necessarily indicate to the level of knowledge you have this is a western mentality and only came into the muslim world in recent 80years ijazah is the correct terminology and ijazah is 100% credit. Now you also have to look which area he studied if he studied hadith he should stick to that not end up in other areas where he could easily end up in errors. A person of hadith maybe a pharmacist by has not a doctor he can't tell you how to apply a faqih can a person who for example has studied Shariah for 10 20 years. It's not a certificate you pick up in 8 years and then start talking and giving verdicts. The Ulama of the past studied for 20 40 years there whole life and will stick there speech to what they have studied. Now in regards to Sufis Tasawwuf you will be shocked to know that majority of the scholars where people of Tasawwuf so my point is there are alot of different groups tariqa of sufis alot of them nowadays are misguided but originally weren't and also till today there are proper sufis who are guided. It's a very vast topic and needs to be very well studies and pout forwa3d to not commit wrongdoings to anyone and therefore fall into sin.
