I'm with you, bro. Cheap books are my weakness. If I'm at Savers or a thrift book and I see a book that's interesting, I get. Biggest book buy regret: RED QUEEN,
A. Ahmed my best friend says always finish books. Her favorite series of all time (Blood of Eden series) started out boring as shit, but, as I said, became her favorite.
I'm not really one to regret books I buy, because I learn writing craft from every book I read. What I did once regret was buying an e-book copy of Winter for the cost of the hard cover, only to have the formatting be so pathetic I wondered if they actually had someone format it at all. But then I complained with the publisher and it turned out it was an error they hadn't spotted, so they sent me a free hard cover. So that was cool too.
I understand this. There were some books I regret buying myself. Especially when you buy it full price and is expensive. I regret buying Fallen by Lauren Kate which sat on my shelf for two years. I also bought books that had bad covers so it would've been better as an ebook.
If you dont like them, you could always send them to me :P I never read them and wanted too just to see what the negative hype is about, but dont have money to buy them..
bruh.. are you wearing half a pair of glasses?? omg i cant with you haha SO many people have told me not to waste my time on 3 dark crowns :/ i thought it was supposed to be good tho R.I.P
LILy. IDK. its basically a strong depiction of my sad life help me well, almost eVERYONE for me liked it except ME so idk what to do.....let me know if yo end up reading it tho!
I relate. Dude, I got a nice beautiful edition of Moby Dick and I tried to read it to my husband. We both were soooo bored. We've never finished it. There's only so many chapters on whaling, different shades of white, whale depictions on wood and bone one can take. That is one I likely regret buying and I think I paid maybe 30 or 40 dollars for it at a used bookstore
could not agree more, I only managed to read the first book and then about half of the second one before I DNF'd the series I don't even know how I made it that far 🙈
Ugh the selection is so good yet so bad. Is cute, i love cute. I read it quickly and it was just fun. Wasn't exactly Dystopia, it failed in that department. But if u like mushy cute books, it's great.
And I Darken is one of my favourite series of all time. Its slow paced, introduces you to the world piece by piece but by the 2nd book I was SO HOOKED. P.S. The 2nd one is the best (in my opinion)
NOO glass sword was one of my favorites. I also loved the first because it reminded me of shatter me trilogy I really enjoyed and ate all of the books up, but I'm starting the third I'd recommend it to a friend
reasons why I buy my books at Goodwill or a Second hand book store. I've found hyped books at goodwill brand new, bookmarked at the page the reader stopped at. So if I don't like it, instead of paying 25 bucks for a book I might not like, at most I spend 6 bucks
Love your honesty on these books! Felt the same about "the selection" series! I have the novella and the final book to read in that series. I literally won't be touching it. The covers are very pretty but after a while I fine myself getting annoyed with the characters. I'm now starting to question my recent purchase of the three crowns book. Haven't read it yet!
I got "Hold Me Closer, Necromancer" and "Necromancing the Stone" because they were dirt cheap but I don't know when I'll read them. They've been sitting at the bottom of my TBR for almost 3 years now.
I 100% agree with everything you said about Three Dark Crowns, that being said, I just finished an early copy of the second one and I promise it's 1000 times better. So even though you didn't like that one, I would actually really recommend picking up the second when it comes out 👍🏻
Honestly, I feel this on a spiritual level. I have the worst habit of buying cheap books I'll never read or just buying something because the cover looks good. My bookshelf is mostly things I haven't read yet, but I keep buying more.
oh my gosh, dying @ your lady midnight part bc that's how i feel about half of my bookshelf (and don't feel too bad bc haven't read tmi & tid yet either)
oh no. I just purchased three dark crowns mainly because it's triplets and I have never read about any before. I DNF often so yes I have tons that I regret buying. I think i NEED TO STAY AWAY FROM FANTASY and use the library!
Everything Everything is one of those books I bought because I LOVED the cover, but then I ended up absolutely hating the story. Like it was good at first, then came the so called "plot twist" that didn't even surprise me and made zero sense. Also I bought Not That Kind of Girl by Lena Dunham two years ago because it was everywhere. Honestly one of the worst decisions of my life. I don't even like Lena Dunham 😂 Anyway great video!
I bought Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight. I didn't like them. Apparently you loved them... sorry. Also, The Circle. I bought it because of the movie. It turns out that the thing isn't separated by chapters. How am I suppose to read that?
Usually to avoid this problem I'd google the summary and if ut intrigues me I borrow it from the library. So if I don't like the book I send it back and if I do, I return the library book and buy my personal copy.
Awe I really liked Three Dark Crowns. It took me a while to understand all of the side characters, but you have got to admit it had one heck of an ending leading into the sequel.
I like idea of making a video about books you regret buying! Totally agree about The Selection! I just discovered your channel and I subscribed :) Can't wait to watch more if your videos!
omg, I think Lady Midnight looks so pretty and I'd like to read it, but its supposed to spoiler the end of The Mortal Instruments and I'm on City of Lost Souls, but its really hard for me to read it, because it feels like filler episodes in a TV show, even when the plot is good and I love the characters and just ugh
I have not read a single Cassandra Clare book yet, but I still own copies of City of Bones, Clockwork Angel, and Clockwork Princess. I don't even know why.
The absolute worst is when I hear about a trilogy or series, and it sounds ermagherd amazing so what do I do? I buy the ENTIRE SET and then find out I hate the book SOOOOO MUCH. #tears
Fuck! I have the whole Selection series xD Okay luckily I literally only paid for the price of one so it's not too bad. Glass Sword was meh. Daughter of Deep Silence always sounded so good! Why is it that books that sound really epic and badass are always really crap * cries * Dude! you mean you haven't read TID!!! You are missing out on his lord and saviour William Herondale!
Okay I just had to double check your glasses because of someones comment..BRANDON MY DAD HAS GLASSES THAT ARE BROKEN LIKE THAT, GET A BLOODY NEW PAIR xD jk But seriously how in the hell are they not falling off of your face? :'D
LMAOO Claire tbh don't even read the selection series they're trash honestly and if you want to read trash or for entertainment, got watch the bachelor at least it'll be more fulfilling then the selection series lol BRUH. DONT' GET ME STARTED ON RED QUEEN UUUGHHHHHHGHGHHH i know I hear everyone talking about WILL HERONDALE I NEED TO GET ON THIS LIKE WHO DIS???!
Claire Weller I personally enjoyed it, so if you'd like to give it a try you might like it. Even if you don't, it's nice to be able to know that you don't like that certain type of book.
I couldn't stop laughing during this video! Half your glasses missing, the sarcasm... and then you pulled out that second copy of Lady Midnight and I completely lost it. Amazing!
I totally agree with you about Daughter of Deep Silence. I saw the paperback cover (which is also really beautiful) at my local independent bookstore and I thought it was going to be an awesome revenge plot with a kickass main character but what I got was a special snowflake that couldn't even go through with her plans because she looked into the eyes of a BOYFRIEND SHE HAD FOR LESS THAN A WEEK WHEN SHE WAS 14 AND KNEW THAT SHE WAS COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY IN LOVE???? Needless to say I was slightly disappointed.
I really disliked the Red Queen, and I've yet to read the second one. However, I highly suggest you read These Broken Stars, because it's incredibly beautiful and amazing and gripping and I just.... ☺️
LOL why am I only seeing this now and the Selection series just..hell no! Also Lady Midnight I didn't know they still had the "limited edition" ones I'm so jealous you have it! Though when you said the "A 1000 copies.... My ass" I DIED!
THANKYOU!! For three dark crowns! I feel I'm the only one who had expected so much more! The plottwist wasn't really a plottwist.... It was so obvious... Only video I watched on your channel, subscribed!! Why don't you just bring Lady Midnight back? If you had just bought the other day?
I feel the same way about Daughter of Deep Silence. I was close to buying The Darkest Corners on BookOutlet but I decided to take it out of my cart so I'm glad I did that. READ ALL OF CASSIE CLARE'S BOOKS BEFORE LADY MIDNIGHT. LOL omg you got the special edition too?! 😂
If it's any consolation, Lady Midnight was REALLY good so when you do get to it, I don't think you'll regret buying it :) I feel you on the limited edition thing though. I am not too bummed about it because I missed out on it the first time around, so I'm glad that I was able to obtain a copy BUT I would understand why those who paid a lot of money for it would be annoyed that something that was said to be "limited" actually was not.
omg how help me. also i do plan on reading the series but NOT anytime soon tbh lol but yeah....i mean since i already bought the 'limited' edition why not XD DD
I wasn't a fan of Red Queen either, I thought it was okay. The falling kingdom series was torture for me. Read the first book and I have 80 pages left to the last. I can't bring myself to finish it, tried so many times.
I have done that so often. I just get rid of the book. I've also started buying more books used and using the library if I'm not sure I'll like the book.
The issue with and I darken is that it was misbranded by the publicists and it’s so annoying bc people have the wrong idea when starting and that’s why a lot of people have issues with it bc they went in thinking one thing
I brought 1st and 3rd books in the series without knowing 2nd and 4th books are missing and regrets af ... that happens twice... since then I never brought book from series unless is complete and only brought the complete book set in one go.
seriously I stopped reading the selection after 100 pages or so because i was so freaking annoyed of America Singer, i can't stand her. Since then I never picked up this book again. I'm not doing this to myself
You can always have the special edition books as an investment that may appreciate in value. You maybe able to sell them at a higher price in the future if you want to.
I almost read Three Dark Crowns but decided to pass. A book I've regretted buying is Illuminae. Kind of. I bought it bc it's so pretty and then I found out it's sci fi? Not really my fave genre. So I've been putting it off for the longest. Lol
Is three dark crowns that bad!!!? The premise sounds like something I'd love. It I'm not really a YA fan (great stories but not enough depth!) so I'm nervous! My library doesn't even have it so I have to buy it if I want it!
oh yeah like i read lady midnight first before reading tmi and tid which i havent read yet up to this day (i SWEAR I TRIED, I DID FIND FOR EITHER CITY OF BONES OR CLOCWORK ANGEL BUT THERES NONE LIKE WHAT I JUST SEE IS THE SECOND THIRD FOURTH BOOKS OF IT I WAS SO UPSET I CRIED IN A BOOKSTORE BECAUSE THEY SAID CITY OF BONES WAS SOLD OUT AND I GOTTA WAIT FOR ANOTHER TO COME
I have bought s o m a n y books that i will never read. Why? Probably because it was cheap and hyped up. I now look at my bookshelf and I ask myself why 13/14 year old me thought it was necessary to buy two copies of Divergent.
Literally me. I bought wayward son before I even read fangirl and carry on because it was the last night edition in stock… yeah I don’t know know what’s wrong me. I even bought it as a hardcover at full price even though I have fangirl and carry on in paperback
There's an annual mega book sale that started about ten years ago and it's the only place I can get super cheap books...I understand the feeling... xD And Cassandra Clare doesn't really appeal to me. After City of Bones, I didn't bother with her books any more. But she's smart because sex sells, handsome men especially. So...yeah...exploit that...
I regret ever having read Eragon. It was fun for the first two but by the third Eragon's characterization started to annoy me along with some events the author put in just to pander to his love of the bland elves. Heck there was a nameless elf that was killed just so he can show elvish funeral rites. Heck Eragon kept pining over Arya over the entire series and she's just 'sorry, not interested in dating what is basically a baby to me' but as soon as she becomes a Rider in the fourth book and Eragon has to leave she suddenly falls in love with him. >:C WTF!!!
Please put a spoiler alert for Daughter of Deep Silence. I haven't yet read the book, and I could have enjoyed it a lot. I've been really wanting to get to it. But now there's not much point because that's a huge plot twist spoiled right there, and I love being surprised by a good twist. Especially because you say it's 30 pages from the end, means that reading everything up to that, I'd already know what's going to happen with the plans.
let me just say that i was so pissed off at the fact that i live in Australia and didnt get the cover of three dark crowns in which you are holding, but the one with a single crown which kind of gave away a bit off the ending. In saying so i did enjoy the book quite a bit, I was annoyed by one of the sister's perspectives a first but none the less, i still quite enjoyed the book. But i still understand your perspective on the book. :)
honestly, if you haven’t read the whole selection series i can see why you didn’t like it. if you would’ve read the whole thing you could’ve seen why america singer was annoying. personally love the selection series and Kierra Cass’s first book, The Siren.
I loved And I Darken. It wasn't particularly what I expected from it - I went in expecting a strong female book in which the character struggles but conquers and would be on the darker side of badass which to some expent it is but realistically it's a political/family/ person relationship drama moreover which was not expected but not unwanted. I read it very quickly and spent that short time very engrossed in it and the cover I got was very cool- not the one he got. I recommend it but read some reviews over the book description.
this happened to me with Savage Song i’m sorry i just didn’t like it and dnfed it. but it happened to me with Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea. IT HAD NO PLOT I REGRET BUYING IT
Brandon, my boy, my dude... where may I ask, is the other half of your glasses

I spent the whole video not even noticing and then at the end it hit me and I couldn't stop staring at where the missing half was supposed to be

brandonthebookaddict I am alive and living thanks to this answer
"Her name is Mare, which, is a female horse" lmao
JessieH hahahahhaah
In Italian “mare” is the sea, so it’s weird for us to read it every time lol
Booktuber bookshelves are what I strive to have when I grow up. It gives me life. 😄
MyNerdyLife SAME
I wanna build a secret room in my house dedicated to my own personal library. Probably won't happen but I can dream lol
Good thing I trained myself not to buy books over $10 dollars because if I didn't make myself follow this I would be broke.
i need to do this....

I'm with you, bro. Cheap books are my weakness. If I'm at Savers or a thrift book and I see a book that's interesting, I get.
Biggest book buy regret: RED QUEEN,
I literally purchased three dark crowns hours before watching this...
I enjoyed Three Dark Crowns, personally. :) Wasn't one of my favorites or anything, but I didn't hate it at all. :)
Jashana C after reading, i love it so much. Super excited for one dark throne!
A. Ahmed my best friend says always finish books. Her favorite series of all time (Blood of Eden series) started out boring as shit, but, as I said, became her favorite.
Ahaha your profile picture
this is sooo relatable!! and that Boombayah instrumental at the end tho
BLACKPINK IN YOUR AREA-AH! ;)
brandonthebookaddict YASSSSS A FELLOW BOOK LOVING BLINK!! 😜😜
As one other booktuber said... "America Singer lives in America...She is a singer, that's her job."
I regret buying graphic novels, because I could just read through the whole thing in the store.
ftm max I only buy them if they're really beautifully drawn and the story connects with me, like The Crow
I like to support the authors
If you dont like them, you could always send them to me :P I never read them and wanted too just to see what the negative hype is about, but dont have money to buy them..
bruh.. are you wearing half a pair of glasses?? omg i cant with you haha
SO many people have told me not to waste my time on 3 dark crowns :/ i thought it was supposed to be good tho
R.I.P
LILy. IDK. its basically a strong depiction of my sad life help me
well, almost eVERYONE for me liked it except ME so idk what to do.....let me know if yo end up reading it tho!
Honestly I feel this video on a spiritual level. I'm so broke because of books that I haven't even read yet lmao
I relate. Dude, I got a nice beautiful edition of Moby Dick and I tried to read it to my husband. We both were soooo bored. We've never finished it. That is one I likely regret buying and I think I paid maybe 30 or 40 dollars for it at a used bookstore
Maybe I'm just absolute trash, but I think I spy the Heroes of Olympus series way in the back on the black shelf! I recognize the color arrangements.
America Singer is the most annoying character that has ever existed 🙃
THANK YOU YES!
I'm sorry to rebuke but America Singer's daughter easily deserves that place :)
missmareadsalot i've just started reading the first book and I CANT AGREE MORE
could not agree more, I only managed to read the first book and then about half of the second one before I DNF'd the series I don't even know how I made it that far 🙈
missmareadsalot i love the series so far but i agree with this
oh my god you are such a precious human being, I just found your channel and I'm amazed by how insightful your reviews are! Keep up the good work!
Ugh the selection is so good yet so bad. Is cute, i love cute. I read it quickly and it was just fun. Wasn't exactly Dystopia, it failed in that department. But if u like mushy cute books, it's great.
Trust me, TMI and TID are WORTH the hype ! Just read them
AJ N not for everyone
Shay Tuan okay, I think they are
OMG YES THE SELECTION. YOU ARE SO ON POINT WITH THAT SERIES SO BAD BUT SO GOOD
And I Darken is one of my favourite series of all time. Its slow paced, introduces you to the world piece by piece but by the 2nd book I was SO HOOKED.
P.S. The 2nd one is the best (in my opinion)
Ok I'm really confused, is your name Brandon or Ellias?
I was thinking the same thing. What is it?
YESSS FUCK THREE DARK CROWNS
wHAT THE FUCK. LADY MIDNIGHT. why would you buy two editions when you haven't read TMI & TID 😂😂
don't ask. I make poor life decisions everywhere. this was one of them XD
brandonthebookaddict fair aha
NOO glass sword was one of my favorites. I also loved the first because it reminded me of shatter me trilogy I really enjoyed and ate all of the books up, but I'm starting the third I'd recommend it to a friend

for me three dark crowns was a NOPE. but idk you might have a different interpretation or opinion on it! just a personal tasteXD
Spending all your money on books instead of new glasses😂 👍🏻
I got "Hold Me Closer, Necromancer" and "Necromancing the Stone" because they were dirt cheap but I don't know when I'll read them. They've been sitting at the bottom of my TBR for almost 3 years now.
Ye please don't read Lady Midnight until you've read the other books haha!
I don't plan on to anymore XD !!
brandonthebookaddict Read them! TID, TMI, and TDA are all amazing!
Can you do a part 2 (if you have more regrets)? loved the video!!
Most of the books you held up I have contemplated getting and now I know the truth.....aka I'm glad I now know!
YYAASSS!!!! ^_^
omg this is the most relatable video on youtube. the ending...all the books you've bought in advance/for unkown reasons is so me
yet again....watch me do it again....and again.....and AGAIN T_T
I had the same problem with Three Dark Crowns. I love when books have character dictionaries in the back like Queen's Thief series
I 100% agree with everything you said about Three Dark Crowns, that being said, I just finished an early copy of the second one and I promise it's 1000 times better. So even though you didn't like that one, I would actually really recommend picking up the second when it comes out 👍🏻
How are you alive and not read any of Cassie's books?! They're amazeee also if you don't want that extra copy of Lady Midnight some people might 😉
Honestly, I feel this on a spiritual level. I have the worst habit of buying cheap books I'll never read or just buying something because the cover looks good. My bookshelf is mostly things I haven't read yet, but I keep buying more.

Isn't his name Ellias?

Just read Lady Midnight XD You don't HAVE to read TMI and TID its just that there are spoilers for those series
Cover buy instant regret! We've ALL done that hahaha you're so funny 😂
Yes I can relate grr there's so many books I regret wasting my money on and the thing is is that there usually about 20 dollars smhh

LOL I BROKE THEm aND They were my SECOND PAIR. IN THE FRIST WEEK!!!!!! XDD
Claire Weller I personally enjoyed it, so if you'd like to give it a try you might like it. Even if you don't, it's nice to be able to know that you don't like that certain type of book.
Why are you talking about Will when Jem exists? Jem is honestly one of my favorite characters,
I couldn't stop laughing during this video! Half your glasses missing, the sarcasm... and then you pulled out that second copy of Lady Midnight and I completely lost it. Amazing!

right? I couldn't even justify the story with the cover. SO MISLEADING!
There were only 1000 copies of this special edition Lady Midnight SIGNED by Cassandra Clare but they still sell the special edition not SIGNED
I really disliked the Red Queen, and I've yet to read the second one. However, I highly suggest you read These Broken Stars, because it's incredibly beautiful and amazing and gripping and I just.... ☺️

haha! THEY LIED THO. "LIMITED EDITION." psh, more like limited editions AND THEN SOME!! haha xD
I'm watching so many videos because I'm going to b&n today and I refuse to buy something I'll regret. This video helped so much thank you!
DUDE.
HELP. me.
i can't stop myself. and look where i am now. no CHILLL
If it's any consolation, Lady Midnight was REALLY good so when you do get to it, I don't think you'll regret buying it :) I feel you on the limited edition thing though. omg how help me.
also i do plan on reading the series but NOT anytime soon tbh lol but yeah....i mean since i already bought the 'limited' edition why not XD DD
That hurt. You made me laugh so much! Specials and rare additions are a killer haha
So sad about And I darken. Easily my favorite YA book of 2016. It was so cool to read a unique YA book. I agree about most of the others, tho.
lol!! glad you liked it! I might finish reading it someday but as of right now lol...nahh XD
I had to subscribe after "dang... i need a candy bar or something" lmfao i was in tears from laughing too hard throughout the whole video
I wasn't a fan of Red Queen either, I thought it was okay.
The falling kingdom series was torture for me. Read the first book and I have 80 pages left to the last. I can't bring myself to finish it, tried so many times.
Dude, how hard is it to look on the cover, or inside cover of a book, to see which book in the series you are holding in your hand before you buy it?
I have done that so often. I just get rid of the book. I've also started buying more books used and using the library if I'm not sure I'll like the book.
i know. for my 2017 resolution i plan on using the library ALOT more often. especially for new debut authors.

The Selection. It's like the bachelor on the page. You hate yourself for liking t!
You are so charming, subbed! I'm glad I watched this cause there's a few in your pile I've been debating buying or no. Super helpful. Thanks!
The issue with and I darken is that it was misbranded by the publicists and it’s so annoying bc people have the wrong idea when starting and that’s why a lot of people have issues with it bc they went in thinking one thing
I brought 1st and 3rd books in the series without knowing 2nd and 4th books are missing and regrets af ... that happens twice... since then I never brought book from series unless is complete and only brought the complete book set in one go.
so happy coz i was planning to buy the whole selection series and then boom... i saw your vid. and guess what. I FREAKING CHANGED MY MIND.
seriously I stopped reading the selection after 100 pages or so because i was so freaking annoyed of America Singer, i can't stand her.
Lol
What do you think about The Throne of Glass series or The Cassandra Claire books?
Your outro songs always slap 😂
Is three dark crowns that bad!!!? The premise sounds like something I'd love. It I'm not really a YA fan (great stories but not enough depth!) so I'm nervous! My library doesn't even have it so I have to buy it if I want it!
I will buy the Lady Midnight special edition from you! If you're interested! The Shadowhunter chronicles are my favorite!
Why am I just now finding your channel...I love it!!!!!?!?
oh yeah like i read lady midnight first before reading tmi and tid which i havent read yet up to this day (i SWEAR I TRIED, I DID FIND FOR EITHER CITY OF BONES OR CLOCWORK ANGEL BUT THERES NONE LIKE WHAT I JUST SEE IS THE SECOND THIRD FOURTH BOOKS OF IT I WAS SO UPSET I CRIED IN A BOOKSTORE BECAUSE THEY SAID CITY OF BONES WAS SOLD OUT AND I GOTTA WAIT FOR ANOTHER TO COME
I have bought s o m a n y books that i will never read.
Are his glasses broken or am I just insane ??
There's an annual mega book sale that started about ten years ago and it's the only place I can get super cheap books...I understand the feeling... xD
And Cassandra Clare doesn't really appeal to me.
I disagree about a few, but cool video :D
BTW PREAcH ABOUT AND I DARKEN
I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT HATED IT
I loved And I Darken.
