  • This is the video I never wanted to make. My beloved 1989 BMW E30 325i SE, a car that has brought me endless joy and unforgettable drives, is officially up for sale. I’ve owned this beauty for two and a half years, and every moment with it has been fully documented on BrownCarGuy.com and this UA-cam channel (links below), from the moment I picked it up at the Classic Car Auctions at NEC to the latest updates. Despite recent repairs, including a new steering rack, brake and fuel lines, the time has come for me to part with it due to the ULEZ expansion and costly rust repair.
This BMW E30 is completely unmodified, featuring the original BBS alloy wheels, black leather upholstery, and M Sport steering wheel. However, it does have a rust issue on the bulkhead that requires attention, which unfortunately makes the repair a bit more involved due to the engine and dashboard needing removal. That said, everything else works, even down to the original trip computer and electric sunroof!
This car deserves a good home, someone who will cherish it, keep it original, and complete the necessary repair work. Watch this video for all the details on its history, and current condition. Let’s find this E30 the loving home it deserves!

This has brought back so many memories, I worked on so many of these in the late 80s and early 90s, fitting alarms and stereos, even central locking and electric windows, that dealers added as after market options.
They were beautifully built and great to drive. I’m so sorry that Mr Kahn has ruined your classic motoring, I know how much this car means to you and I really feel your pain.
I was about to move house to a place where I’d have a double garage and 60 miles from the UlEZ, but the sale fell through! Unfortunately we’re staying put for a while, as my wife has to have some surgery, but otherwise this would have been the perfect classic for me and a great project to drop that engine and sort the panel out.
I really hope this lovely un-modified car, that is so loved can find an owner who will do it justice.

    I had a white one, 1988 325i.
Sold it which was monumentally stupid, but I was 21 and needed the cash.
Lovely cars, and absolutely worth spending money on to keep them on the road.

Only earlier today I was just thinking back to the time you bought your 3 series at auction at the NEC. And yes, ever since you bought it, I've always seen you have a big grin on your face when driving it. I've also had the pleasure of seeing your 3 series in real life, parked up at the British Motor Show in Farnborough last year. Let me tell you folks, it looks absolutely gorgeous in real life. I know also it's been featured at various shows such as the Bromley Pageant. And you've driven it through various ULEZ protest parades.
So sorry it's come to this Shahzad as its been very much part of you and your persona and your videos for some time now. Hope it finds itself a good home, hopefully with a subscriber of your channel right here.

You told me not to sell my 1988 Mercedes 190E 2.6. I’m saddened to learn that you are selling your
BMW. Only one person to blame for the ULEZ… SK.
I work within the ULEZ but live outside. Thankfully, I have other cars I can use. Therefore, I use my 190E 2-3 times a week locally but once a week at most in the ULEZ. So, I may keep mine until it becomes ULEZ free. 3 years and 3 months to wait 😢.
Best wishes with the sale of yours. Someone is going to get a great car!

I know he compiled a list of the classic cars scrapped during the original UK wide scrappage scheme and it would be great to compare if there are similarities. Nice car, but the bulk head issue is a major problem as most of it is covered up by the sound deadening, splash guard and the engine so its impossible to see the extent of the rust. I had chrome bumper e30 with the same issue which resulted in wet foot wells on both sides I stripped out the whole interior carpet, dash everything so I could see and their were quite a few rust holes I could see from the inside. How much was you quoted for the repair as the engine has to come out ? The fact your car has a rusty bulk head will significantly affect the value as you can't see the extent of the rust and what happened to your elephant trunk your one is missing from the bulk head. ?

    • @eyesodd

      Because BS bureaucracy.
I've an old non compliant Volvo, the engine bay is huge and people swap in pretty much anything.
I could put in a compliant engine from any compliant car, but then you have to pay to get it independently tested, then you need to tell the DVLA of the change so you get charged at the probably higher new VED rate than the original engine was charged.

Just my opinion that cars this age should be mollycoddled and kept away from the weather elements, it shouldn’t be daily driven or used especially during winter or rain if you want to keep it on the road in the long term. This is sad news, as i remember the video you did when the bulkhead rust became apparent. My comment now is more or less the same as it was then.
You need that car, that's evident in your face when you drive it. Cars and classic cars especially are, by nature, not economically viable. You don't own a car like that because it makes financial sense. You own it because you love it. And to love it means spending the money on it that maybe wouldn't be justifiable on a run-of-the-mill daily.
I appreciate where you live is a factor; ulez, lack of facilities and such like, but if you have a car you love that much, you need to allow yourself the opportunity to make it work. It's always going to be expensive, but that, unfortunately, is the nature of the beast. These things are sent to try us.
Personally, i think you're still looking at the car as an increasingly impractical daily. You can't allow it to be that. It's an extension of your personality. It represents the splash of colour to an otherwise black & white existence, the difference between living and merely existing.
