In today's video we will be Unboxing and taking a look at anbernics best handheld ever made in my opinion, not because of raw power but absolutely gorgeous pure naustalga!
don't get me wrong it can do emulation very well but sadly has some limitations simply due to the design of the controls with not having a analog stick or sticks...but that dose not put you off it trust me.
love to know what you think of the Anbernic ARC S?

I picked this one up on release and I love the feel of it. It's taken some time to get used to the controls since I have never owned a Sega console, but once I got that down I found new life in Genesis games for sure! Another great video!
I don't gave it, but it looks tempting. I have too many handhelds though 😂

I love that blue one so much, but I went for the OG black to get Android support. Can't wait to play Genesis games from my childhood again.

Thank you and it's good to be back my friend, I still have a lot of catching up to do and so so many handhelds and videos to do also 😊 but I would highly recommend this just for the pure nostalgia...I can't but it down. It's been a long time that I have completed games right the way through but on this in only 3 days I have completed sonic 1,2,3 eswat on the Megadrive and half way through so many others love it

i've been really contemplating on buying this console. no better suggestions and opinion regarding the rg arc s (or any other systems and games for that matter) than SLE. really happy to see you back, bro.
That's so kind of you to say man, thank you so much. And I can't tell you how much I have loved gaming on this the past 3 days..it's a joy...I know it's not perfect as in pure performance or controls due to lack of a set of analog sticks but as a handheld design, feel and experience on gaming on it...it can't be matched in my opinion..I truly hope they do another one with a higher chipset...I would buy it in a heartbeat man...ps even though am truly enjoying this one

Love this thing, love the form factor: Really hope they stick with it, add analogue triggers and at least 1 analogue stick with updated hardware and we've got a real gem IMO.

I love mine, just wish the chipset was a little bit more powerful for real accurate Saturn emulation.

Got one of these in black a month ago, loaded Retro Arena & it's amazing. Saturn is sadly hit or miss though depending on the game

It's just a first impression video so not to much in-depth on emulation performance but I will be doing lots of videos as you know on it...Saturn emulation, psp emulation, dreamcast but so far I can't put it down. I have said for years now that I want a 4 inch 4/3 and finally have it and can't get enough lol

I really hope Anbernic doesn't abandon this form factor. IMO the 6-button pad is 100% more superior than the typical Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony 4-button layout. All this device need is better hardware and possibly an analog stick to cater for Dreamcast games. This would be an ultimate SEGA emulation machine if they decide to address those two issues. I really hope there will be a version 2 of this device.

@@SonicLoveEmulation Same considering almost 99% of these retro handhelds are 4-button, unless another company considers a 6-button, I'm hoping for the best

@@SonicLoveEmulation Oh yes, it doesn't get any easier each button dedicated to the impact of each punch or kick; regular hit, medium hit, hard hit. Its phenomenal

Thanks for the video. Glad you are doing them. If I did not have a 2+, 3+, v90, psp, ds, 3ds, S20, X5, x7, SF2000 and 3000 a gpi pi and a steam deck I would get this. Its fun to see though.
Yeah that's a great selection of handhelds for sure man. What do you use the most out of all of them?
@@SonicLoveEmulation The steam deck mostly. The others depends on the types of games I fancy playing. GBA and below is normally on the v90 in bed or camping/hols. 3+ for ps2 and game cube. And the others just random games for snes dreamcast etc. I have a large collection of ds games but also use a r4 card for 3ds the best way to play ds games
I am hoping to see Hyperkin release the MEGA95 since I prefer cartridges, but I found one of these on eBay for a good deal and eagerly await its arrival!

Ha ha my bad, but if you love the old Sega Megadrive pad or Sega Saturn pad then you will absolutely love this plus the screen is stunning

Some great games on game gear
I have a game gear that has failed to work in the last 5 years or so.
Probably needs new capacitors. So rather than fix the game gear and give it a new screen too (which I was contemplating) I went for the black Anbernic Arc D and threw in a 512gb mico SD card too. It’s terrific and so light in weight but so sturdy. Feels lighter than the game gear even without its batteries 😂.

Are all of the games you've played here, pre-installed? Cause i wouldnt have a clue about adding any on, roms or whatever? 😅 Would love to purchase though looks great 👍🏻
@@james-stevenmulraney8747 you have to but it with the seller offering the option to include a sd card if they do then it will come with the games
The only issue I'm having with my Arc-D is that I can't seem to get the SegaCD emulator to work properly. I can overlook that for now, I still like it!
Did not come with any roms to test so will have to add my own today at some point...are you using stock firmware? Or retro arena?
I have an Anbernic Arc S, and unsurprisingly, I have a few things I'd like to improve.
Firstly, I wish it had a little more power. This is mainly for certain games, Saturn emulation, and some arcade titles.
Thankfully, most arcade games run great. Secondly, the operating system. I would have preferred JelOS or something that
offers better emulation options and choices. Thirdly, I'm struggling with figuring out the picture format for each game. There's
PNG, JPG, JPEG, BMP, and then the naming needs to match the ROM. It's giving me headaches, and I still can't get it to work right.
Perhaps you have some advice?
Speaking of headaches, DOS games are another hurdle. I want to play them, but I know very little about DOS on this device. I need help
with compatible games, configuration. Ideally, I'd love to play SEGA DOS games specifically. Virtua Fighter arcade versions also seem to be
incompatible. I'm not sure if it's user error or something else. Overall, I'd really appreciate a deep dive into how to properly set things up for the Anbernic Arc S.
Another issue is that my system, unfortunately purchased from Anbernic, takes a full minute to boot. When I tried custom firmware, it nearly bricked.
The author claims it's impossible, but I have video proof. It wouldn't turn back on, and I only saved it with an official firmware update and keeping it charged.
Such a hassle! Despite these issues, I still love the Arc S for its SEGA style. No one else is doing anything like it, and other companies are so focused on Nintendo
and Sony that this was the first new device that excited me since my old RS97. I refused to give in to the Nintendo clones, and I hated every second of them. Eventually,
I stopped watching reviewers because I couldn't stay silent about my love for SEGA. I won't apologize for it or give in to fanboys. I'm a SEGA fan, not a fanboy, and I can
objectively acknowledge their mistakes. This is getting long, so I'll wrap it up here. Those are my thoughts on the Anbernic Arc S. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!
Hey man, well I will say it's my favorite handheld ever so far to date for most of the positive points you have made, as for help I think it will take me a good while to set it up to how I want it but will hopefully address some.of the issues you have faced along the way with your RG ARC S. As for dos I will do a video at some point and hopefully get it sorted and be able to do a tutorial on it...and also please be patient with me on it as there is so much to showcase with this device and so many systems that can be used.

@@fonzitheman I tend to play more PC games on it, plus sm so spoiled for choice and I di tend to pick up a smaller handheld to game on in small blasts

i filled with my arc d with just sega 8 and 16bit games.ditch the stock os and get retro arenas build
