"I'm gonna be THAT guy again huh?" You mean being strict but fair in your critiques? Honestly, you usually balance out the pros and cons of a game well and you're not some sort of contrarian.
I’m using Opera, and I’m pretty sure I don’t need the “gamer” version of it. But, it’s good that they’ve sponsored this video. It does good job of blocking annoying pop-ups and excessive ads, which, in this age of monetised concerns of privacy, is priceless.
Not saying this wasn't your experience. Just that I had a completely different one. I really enjoyed the game and ive played the original dozens of times. I do agree with you on the reloading and Ashley crouching. Ladders and more intractables would have been nice too. As well as a way to turn off the motion blackening the screen.
@@GrosvnerMcaffrey honestly, censorship is just like taking anything sexually suggestive out of a game because your a massive virgin and mad about it Yes, Im talking to you anyone who censors things!
Sex is never a reward brah! (Nah its dumb. I also hated the removal of the “you’re cute without your glasses” bit). Leons supposed to be kind of a dick.
Funny how they cut lines from the VR version but they'll likely re-release the normal game yet again with the lines uncut again. They've had dozen chances to remove the lines if they really cared that much. This was clearly a demand from Facebook.
Capcom fully admitted to censoring RE4 VR per Facebook's demands. Can't wait to see how they'll likely butcher an RE4 Remake, especially after doing so with RE3.
"VR shifts Leon from a highly skilled agent to an unstoppable bully." That's kind of making it sound a special kind of fun all by itself.... every now and then, a good ol' power fantasy can be quite the trip.
It may not be the best way to play the game, but it is DEFINITELY my favorite, after about twenty hours I STILL can’t get over how well all the controls and graphics translate to VR.
Yeah the only thing that made it feel "bad" was if you use the joystick movement scheme it's too easy running around while shooting people in a way the game was literally not programmed to deal with some of the boss fights were painfully easy with New Movement and the ability to dual wield but it was definitely my most entertaining playthrough
@@Alvin-xs7db hundred percent got about to the end of the game and then realized I never felt scared in that staple of a horror game. had a lot of fun but that's not related to the horror aspect. It was fun dual wielding a magnum and the striker shotgun but the bosses didn't have a chance 🤣. (for people who are really into weapon realism be careful with upgrading your guns I accidentally upgraded my tmp to hold 100 rounds when the magazine it was using could obviously only fit 30-40 it kind of break the immersion for me
@@Indiana_Jesus I think because I was new to VR it was a bit challenging at times. I also was using a huge space rather than fully relying on the stick movement. Overall it was pretty easy though but it was a fun action game. I never actually dual wielded any weapons as I suppose it would have made things too easy. Weird mixed bag which can be hard if you choose to make it I suppose.

I played through normal difficulty with Classic Leon movement (tank controls/can't move when aiming at baddies) and had a blast, challenging but fun. Running through professional with the run 'n gun style turns Leon into a one man Ganado apocalypse.
That one really baffles me. The exact line is "I guess there's no sex discrimination here. Better find her fast." Why would that need to be changed? Like, were the devs a bunch of kids in 7th grade that are afraid of saying the word "sex?"
Considering that the Wii version has always been my favorite version of my favorite video game of all time, this VR Port is exactly the next version I've been waiting for
Mercenaries mode is confirmed to come to RE4 btw. I never played the original and thought this VR version was amazing and well worth the money. It is one of the longest VR games in Quest 2 tbh. The only thing I did not like were the switch to theatre mode to show even the minor cutscenes. I also did not realize lines were cut unless you mentioned it, but did think it was weird that hands disappear when I am near Ashley.
I think this version is to be experienced solely for the action rather than the cutscene. Since I finished the game too many times already I just skipped the cutscenes and it didnt make any different for me. Would have been cool to experience them first hand though. Like maybe we can interact but at least let us have it in first person.
@@tableentertainment7644 Nah was released at the perfect time. Mercenaries isn't really hurting them at the moment. Let's not forget Village was around the corner too.
The censorship is *_really_* counter-intuitive if you think about it a bit more. Like specifically the “ballistics” line is supposed to show that Luis is a bit of a pig for wanting to flirt with Ashley as they’re getting surrounded by blood-thirsty villagers. The only reason it was removed was because the Facebook staff who looked over the game either wanted to go on a power trip and assert some kind of “authority” (I know it sounds silly but the corporate world is full of people like this), or they’re just too stupid to realize that the line is making fun of Luis
@@Johnichu11 I agree, while I’m against censorship it’s the weirdest thing to bitch about, like in the original game I guarantee nobody cared about the original lines, you probably even rolled your eyes because they are lame.
Johnichu, ImpulseCdog and Null are morons, I just want to make that clear. It's not "just" pickup lines, it's a game that impacts culture and it's also character development. It's a part of who Leon is as a character and the way the ladies respond is also a part of their character. Sexuality is a part of human experience and sanitizing this stuff has a cultural impact. It's not a minor thing when all media starts to be subverted.
@@throwacnt7603 There's nothing wrong with Sex, hell, they kept some of the skimpy outfits for Ashley even from what I've heard-- The lines just aren't even very good (though that's opinion) and overall they're just so miniscule I don't see why it's such an issue. You say it's part of their character and sure, it is-- But their character is portrayed well enough without the extra B-Movie level dialog, and overall their existence as lines really doesn't add anything other than just being kinda weird. Removing bad lines isn't sanitizing as much as it is just making a stronger script in a script that already isn't the best necessarily. The game isn't ruined without them, or even really noticeable that they're gone-- I'm almost positive MOST people wouldn't even realize they weren't there (Or vaguely remember it like some kind of mandele effect thing) if it wasn't pointed out so fervently.
What do you think of it now? Since they added Mercenaries mode along with new content not seen before. They even made some changes that you mentioned like the ladder pushing animation
The very first thing I tried to do in this game was reverse grip my knife so I could hold the knife and gun mgs3 CQC style and I couldn't and I was sad
It's not overpriced at all. Game Developer would've understand it. It's not very easy to do what they did to port the game to VR with Unreal Engine. and what they did to balance the game in VR is pretty cool. and also they added the Mercenaries mode with bunch of challenges and skins to unlock.
It's overpriced for people who already own the game. You're choosing to buy the game for double its price on every digital platform just so you can play in VR AND have less content and censorship.
I got this in a bundle with Beat Saber when I got my Quest 2. For about 350 dollars. Thats a deal and a half to me. And I’m having fun in it, but I can tell it isn’t how it was intended to be played. I’ve never played RE4 before this, so I don’t have any bias about the game, and I generally think it’s pretty fun. I’m enjoying it. At the same time, I can tell it’s not quite meant for VR. I plan on picking up the Remake soon because I genuinely like what I’ve played here, and would like to play it in a more traditional way. I do think that $40 is way too much for this game myself. It might be lower now, I havent checked but if you’re going to be spending $40 on a VR game, get Contractors and something else. Contractors is $20 and has absolutely embraced the modding community, you will 100% get your money’s worth out of it.
@@oddgbmo3036 That's not how it works though. Nintendo funded RE4 originally back in 2005 because it was exclusive to the GameCube. Same with the Remake of RE1 and Resident Evil 0.
@@Johnichu11 "that's not how it works though" says the guy who stated Nintendo FUNDED RE4 😂 Capcom signed an exclusivity deal with Nintendo but later ported the game to other consoles to other systems because of how bad the GameCube system was doing in sales. Originally RE4 was going to be an XBOX exclusive. So no, Nintendo didn't fund the development of RE4. But Facebook indeed funded the vr version and even had developers from Oculus help develope the game with Capcom. Just a little history for you since you didn't know how it works.
ESRB means nothing to the censorship mobs. But their "masterpiece" The Last of Us 2 is fully uncensored, especially their very graphic mo capped sex scene. Hypocrisy...
Hearing you call out and say "You are not a Hero" pretty much is the best argument against any kind of censorship. I truly respect you saying that because every time some PC corporate Exec decides that something is too "problematic" it's always the material that doesn't even matter. Honestly if the Facebook people really even cared about not offending anyone, they would have went out of their way to censor more than those lines that got cut. Probably change the enemy blood to green, and get rid of any gore. Not show the one dude who is LITERALLY BURNT ALIVE. You know, the really graphic stuff.
Interesting to here your perspective, but clearly I enjoyed my experience WAY more than you did. I agree, it does have its quirks, but I'm blown away with how they took a 16 year old game and made it fun and fresh in 2021! I think if someone already has a quest 2, and already loves RE4, it's a no brainer. Living in this world again in this way was such a treat.
100% agreed, I've played thru RE4 more times than I can count on many different consoles since the day it was released, and this was by far my favorite way to play. Bought it then stood and played thru the whole game in one sitting (standing?) Loved it as much as any other time as well!
It’s clear the best version of the game (being Leon is just a complete different league compare to just remote controlling Leon) but somehow he enjoys the latter more, weird.
For someone who recently got a quest 2 with no prior vr experience this is a very hard but fun and satisfying game. I played re4 on GC and Wii and this is my favorite version by far
As someone who had a really hard time enjoying the original game but really enjoys the VR version, I gotta say, I agree with most if not all points. The reason I couldnt enjoy the OG actually were the tank controls, having to stand while shooting, having to aim down to reload, all those things being in an already a not really scary slow action-horror game that ruined it for me. The fact that combat is faster paced, and the fact the few horror scenes are now more personal do help a lot with the fun I am experiencing despite all the other drawbacks and, to me, do lift up the experience quite a lot
@@Juggue I believe the opposite, with some adjustments to the enemies speed, general aggressiveness and strength, a different control approach would have been way better. At this point the game simply aged poorly.
@@Nikita-ze8ii it was originally going to be a fixed camera angle, the game aged amazingly as it still feels like a actual “video game”, the camera and movements is what set the gameplay, if you had a free camera it would be terrible and they would have to make it like cod zombies, you would have to come from the original REs to understand
@@Juggue my first RE actually was RE 1 and I would have much prefered fixed cameras, since of the original games Code Veronica X is my favourite though atmittedly, the cameras are on rails in this one. But if they go the third person route, they should imo have gone the free cam route. The game honestly already was a CoD Zombies, just with worse controls really
I completely understand the struggles and complaints that this UA-camr has about the VR version of the original Resident Evil 4. I have some of the same complaints as well. However, my nostalgia for the game remains strong because it was the first Resident Evil game I ever played. I spent a lot of time grinding on that game, so I don't mind playing the campaign over and over again. It's something to do to pass the time if I don't have anything else to do during the day. I got the Quest 2 a couple of years after the original Resident Evil 4 came out on the Oculus Quest 2, and Mercenaries was available as soon as I got it. The PRL 412 hand cannon and the Chicago typewriter, along with some bonus costumes, were available as well. I'm grateful that I got the game and the headset while all of those things were still there. The only thing that bothers me personally is that PlayStation and Xbox allow you to buy the bonus weapons for Resident Evil 2 and 3 remake in case you don't have time to grind to unlock them yourself. It would be nice if the Quest store had the same option to purchase all the bonus weapons and costumes. However, I understand why the company in charge of the Oculus Quest 2 doesn't do this. They want you to spend time grinding to get all these bonus costumes and weapons. Despite this, it's still a minor complaint, and I really enjoyed the game.
When you got to the things it DIDNT HAVE I was continually laughing. You got a new fan in me. Hahaha that shit is hilarious and stoopid. Makes me not even want to touch this.
You make good points and good content delivered in a package that isn’t inflammatory. Been binging your reviews while playing re4 remake along with avalanche reviews. Good one mate 🎉
Gonna be completely honest, this game is seriously making me consider picking up a Quest 2. RE4 is probably one of my favorite games of all time, so it’s hard to not want to get my hands on this version of the game. I’m currently trying to collect RE4 on every platform I own
i have a quest 2 and 3 and now I see that re4 remake will be on VR but obly on PSVR2. game was so good I would buy a psvr2 just for that experience lol
Well 6 months later The wait pays off as they improved mercenaries With 20 new missions And some good old unlocks Getting Knight Ashley gonna be a saver in Hardcore
It makes you wonder though... Just how much did Capcom question and push back against that? Facebook is no poor or small company, so maybe they offered even more big bucks on top as a bonus/ incentive to censor, and Capcom see this more as Facebook's product or version than theirs - one that they don't even have to care about all that much. So long as it is not a 100% Capcom product or decision then I think we can give them the benefit of the doubt. The RE4 Remake is the one we've REALLY gotta watch out for.
@@terry85mar Eh, since the remake is a "reimagining" of sorts, it doesn't feel too bad since the dialogue and characterization are (while similar) mostly different anyways, unlike this port where you're taking away something that was inherently supposed to be there in the first place and the cut is much more noticeable.
If snakes are what scare you the most in RE4 (raises hand), they're still here. StrategyWiki has a great FAQ that highlights which crates will have snakes in it and works with this version.
Im sure i could agree but after 5 months I still pick it up to play it from time to time the gameplay feels so good. They also released the mercenary mode and challenges update(which tbh I hadnt played it much from the console versions) and its been hard af to get all 5 stars
I really hope that in the future it will include all the content that was cut, including the novisdadors from that room, the extra content and the cut dialogue, making it as challenging as it is in the original game, make it available to all vr platform, and make the price be between 20 and 30 dollars. Also, seeing how re 4 vr, re 2 remake and re 3 remake have been treated where the cut downgrade and change things that give them their identity, i don't have high hopes for re4 remake, if of course re 4 remake and re 4 vr aren't the same. PS:Also, i consider the profesional mode to be the best way to play it since it offers some form of challenge(and i speak about the classic version since i don't have a vr, but if you sa that it is very easy on vr, then you should play proffesional).
RE4 is one of my top 10 favorite games ever made, and I'm glad to hear the VR version is enjoyable, but the fact that I couldn't play it on PC (I use a Valve Index instead) stung a lot less after I heard about the censorship, I've boycotted games for less than that. It's like rewatching the Sam Raimi spider man movies, going "Hey let's remove bully peter parker from Spider Man 3 because people made fun of it", releasing that cut of the movie, and then the movie is a lesser experience for it. I love that edit of the mob having twitter logos on them, we both know the kind of idiot that's responsible for these changes.
Where were you when they kept lowering the boob jiggle with almost each port? Or Lowering the blood splatter of heads in regional versions? If it wasn't pointed out to you, you probably wouldn't even notice-- Bully Peter Parker was Dozens of minutes and large parts of Spider-Man 3, the lines cut form this would make up less than 2 minutes if even and are literally just pick-up lines and boob jokes. That's it. It's so stupid because you'd think more people would be upset about Mercenaries Mode and the side stories-- But they're literally more upset because they can't hear Luis make a joke about Ashley's titties.
I almost got a vr for this then when you said all the things that are missing I was like “you literally get less game for more money” I think you said it at some point in this video but it’s true nonetheless.
In my opinion you should get a meta quest 2 (The name meta sounds so dumb) Res4 isnt worth it but there is other cheaper games out there worth it and if you have steam you can take advantage of the sales coming up soon The forest, Payday 2, and Arizona sunshine are just a few of GOOD cheap games you can play Youll need a pc that can stream to your quest though which you have to download a program which cost 20 dollars but after you figure it all out which is easy, you got a decent cheap vr and abunch of awesome cheap games Its basically how i did it Edit: id wait and see if res4 price drops for christmas. Only way ill buy it
@@phantompain2466 eh I don’t like Facebook and I don’t wanna have to make an account (real or fake) to use a vr system. Plus there’s nothing on vr I legitimately wanted to play outside of this and this was a disappointment from what I hear. I don’t play many games to begin with either so that’s that as well.
At the cabin section, I went upstairs and dropped grenades directly on top of the ganados at the windows. Only one group actually broke open the window and the shelf, and after killing like two of them, Luis told me to go upstairs. It was hilariously easy. I wish they'd let you start on professional difficulty, because I'm having fun but I'm not getting challenged.
Thanks for pointing out the obvious shortcomings. I found it suspicious that they pretty much did not mention the price until nearly at launch. $40 especially for a VR game is a lot of money, which not discrediting the effort the devs put in making this port. It's not a bad VR game it seems but could have some better design decisions. Such as two-handing handguns and being able to pull a mag out with your offhand without it taking out the existing one. Also, good lord 2D scopes in VR I thought we were clear from MOH that is unacceptable in VR to look through a pinhole in a black void. If there was a classic control scheme where not only your movement was limited but you could only shoot when holding still I think could attribute to a more balanced game from the original design while still keeping the fun of VR. And the censorship yea that doesn't make sense. This game has been out for 16 years by this point and has been ported to nearly every system and hasn't seen a need to be censored. Not even on the Nintendo Switch, my best guess is someone at Facebook either threw a fit or they thought allowing this on the platform would damage the image somehow.
As someone who has finished every single version of this game at least four times per version at least, RE4 VR is my favorite way to play this game and the Mercs mode added for free is the icing on the cake for me!!!...
Honestly, i played the vr version and got heavy whiplash when i played the UHD version on steam when it was on sale. Seriously. I think 10$ of this games are worth it for the tank removal alone.
I just beat the game on pro mode, I haven't played this since it's release on PS2. I was able to beat the game only dying 3 times total, all 3 of those times were during the jetski section since the controls and way it handled felt off to me. It was harder since you took more damage but still I was a bully overall.
Bruh why did they remove some of these lines. I completely agree with the fact that the cheesy lines are inherent to the games vibe. What the hell man. Leon is better with the ladies is not okay for 2021???
Leon is a straight white male, kindov been open season on them in the West for 7 years now. Bolsheviks in the government isn't a good thing, turns out.
There’s an option to turn off the automatic magazine drop when you grab another magazine , which was great because I kept grabbing a magazine and unloading the gun before, too. You press a button after that to unload your magazine, which puts the step of pressing a magazine release I’m more used to manipulating.
Finally a sane person in the comments. Totally agree. Please name another 10-20 hour VR shooter with a fantastic singleplayer campaign/story with boss fights and puzzles that I can play that isn't Half-Life: Alyx. There isn't one, that's the problem. There are two right now, and this is one of them, and I've played both of them. I would've paid 60 for this without a second thought. He brings up the gunplay in pavlov. Sure it may be better, but that game is purely multiplayer. To people like me who don't give a shit about online competitive shit that's barely even a game. The "content" is just shooting other players the same way in the same levels for hundreds of hours. That's not content.
It shouldn't be $40 because it isn't the full game. No Separate Ways Storyline, No Assignment Ada, Mercenaries is confirmed, but I'm not sure if it'll be stuck behind a paywall, along with the Handcannon, Chicago Typewriter, or extra outfits. It's maybe a good 30 at the condition It's in right now.
@@Lufisyth different story, weapon variants, prompts and unique levels. It is not the full game because Leon does not have access to the weapons/costumes you could unlock in ANY other port.
This game was advertised to have reworked enemy design to go with your additional movement. Maybe that's what professional difficulty is? At your skill level, I feel like you shouldn't have hesitated to choose it
Imo things These are things that would’ve improved this game •add weight to all weapons •turn ladders into a interactive physical object a player can push. •The first Krauser cutscene should’ve been a boss fight. Mgs shit •Enemies should be able to grab the players weapons/ Leon’s arms like in saints and sinners. •some of the enemy grab qte should’ve been given Saints and sinners treatment making them a first person qte leaving players to punch em off, shoot them off, or shake em. •Enemies animations though I’m glad they kept them VR enemies can’t compete with a player. The enemies should’ve been programmed to sprint fully at players. Imo the games enemies needed a more physics based upgrade. Ragdolls and environmental interaction. I worried about these things before release. But believed it would be added considering the daunting task it is to make a VR remake of one of the most influential games of all time.
And for Ashely they could add a feature to command her to duck down. Same way you tell her to wait or follow, just press the same button but hold it down. I don’t have a quest 2 so I don’t know if it would be comfortable or a living hell.
This is good honest review. Shame I didnt see it before buying the game, might've reconsidered. Theres many flaws in this port. But I'm still having lots and lots of fun. Just seeing the environments in vr is stunning and cool new way to experience the games atmosphere. The cutscene thing is a damn shame and really kills immersion like everyone has said. All in all, it's a cool new way to experience the game you love, I wouldnt call it definitive way to play the game and I would also not recommend it for anyone playing re4 for the first time.
I agree with some of the points raised in this video. I found it interesting that when ever I reloaded my weapon, I would never "waste" remaining bullets. For example, when playing Half-Life: Alyx, if I fired five shots from my pistol, then chose to reload, then I could be wasting all the remaining shots in that magazine. Where as in Resident Evil 4: VR, it would operate like a typical first person shooter, and you would never waste ammo from an early reload. And yes, I accidentally unloaded my gun several times, by accidentally grabbing a new magazine from my waist (when I was aiming to retrieve my knife, but stuffed up the motion), meaning I would automatically unload my weapon and leave myself vulnerable. I also, on many occasions, accidentally let off grenades. I found it a bit silly that the game encourages you to pull the pin of a grenade to "cook" it then throw, but if you throw a grenade without pulling the pin, it still activates and will explode. This didn't make much sense to me, and I found myself accidentally letting off incendiary grenades all the time, as I'd pick them up, then instinctively "throw" them at myself and my chest, like I would do when finding more ammo, gold etc. Not going to lie, but I was also a bit disappointed that I couldn't stab enemies with the knife, I would have to essentially "slash" at them instead. Also, Ashley Graham's A.I. has either gotten worse, and/or does not translate well in VR. Totally agree about the inventory wasting thing, as well. I found that annoying. :(
I agree with pretty much everything you said except for Re4 VR not being the best way to play it, because IMO it is by far the best way to play this game. As for it not being on PC, I was upset too at first but I got over it once I found out that Re2, Re3, Re5, Re7, and Village are going to be available on PCVR with the new mod that's coming out.
In regards to the censorship. I can assure you they did not make these changes to appease anyone. Nobody was asking that they do this. Nobody would’ve been angry had they not. They made these changes because, by the very fabric of their nature, corporations are inherently risk adverse. They will remove ANYTHING if they feel it would threaten their bottom line, even if it almost definitely would not. For instance, Amazon directed the strange sex scene out of the film Avatar. Nobody asked that they do that, but because people made jokes about it in the past, Amazon did it. Everybody is always blaming changes like this on everyday people, even though they are not the ones to blame. The people you should blame are the corporations who will censor art to maintain their disgusting levels of profit and greed. The people you should blame are the class of people who own these corporations and who put the dollar above literally everything else. What I’m saying is that there is a very specific sociopolitical system that you SHOULD blame, but you are instead choosing to blame people who have 0 power over these decisions. And I know why. It’s a lot more comforting to just blame “stupid sensitive people” than it is to point a finger at the system that controls our entire lives. Because if you blame that system then, well, you’d have to start advocating for something besides it. And that scares people, for the most part.
Hate to say it but this was the most honest and down to earth review out there! Thanks! I was gonna put the 40 down but yeah it seemed too much knowing that 1) a new remake is coming soon prob @ 60 bucks, 2) as much as a great experience for RE VR, its literally the same game. I’d rather wait for a redux in price (which will def come @ 30 and snatch it there) in the meantime Pavlov is a great all together FPS shooter and its free so yeah good review!

The cut content and censorship ruin this version of the game alone. EDIT: Granted, the cut content is much more severe from a commercial/monetary perspective, but in terms of destroying part of the game's general personality, which I believe is why a good chunk of people fell in love with it in the first place, the censorship is much, much worse.
LMAO, it's like 30 seconds subtracted from 2+ hours of cutscenes. The fact that you can move and shoot is a way bigger shift than any censorship put in this port, so you people come off like a bunch of whiny babies over digital titties lol.
@@zedoctor3724 Umm what if game companies start doing this with more re-released games. You're telling your in favor of changing Pac-Man to be more sympathetic and not kill these digital ghost of the sake of a star that has zero affects to our existence? @@Faded.Visuals he's just saying that this very small censorship that people are deciding not to even try this game is a little overboard and I would agree. There would be a couple of things I would've change that they did do involving Ashley but it's so minor it shouldn't be a big deal that it's a change. You're example literally made no sense because you're referring to Pac-Man killing Ghost which is the whole point of Pac-Man. The small censorship in RE4 doesn't make up the whole game. @@Faded.Visuals yeah this isn’t fucking Konami levels of disrespect to the source material. Just look at the silent hill 2 & 3 remasters those games got fucking butchered. All because they were too lazy or cheap to pay the OG voice actors to return or use they’re dialogs. So instead they hired a whole other team of voice actors that did a terrible job at re dubbing the game. Let alone all the glitches and missing fog cuz they lost the masters of the original games somehow. But naw though 30 seconds of missing dialog game and characters are ruined, trash, 0/10, don’t buy. The censorship fucking sucks and is stupid but the worst part to me is that it’s missing content. But whatever. It's $40, people acting like they're asking full price-- Which they aren't, for a game they basically had to remake from the ground up to work this way. Major exaggerations from this review and from some here in the comments.
@@null7198 I beg your pardon-- as someone who paid full price for this game over three times already (pc, wii and ps2) you're being hyperbolic the wrong way. Those motion controls and aiming systems were already done for the wiimote version, the first-person camera and added remaining work to port it to VR isn't monolithic at all. It should've been a $20 title max. (I feel tons of VR-titles are overpriced btw. If they want people to go for stuff like the Quest 2 despite privacy and closed platform concerns the least they could do is make some awesome experiences free or a lot cheaper.)
@@interlace84 Do you really think the Wii version is the exact same controls as the VR Version? Because DEFINITELY not, I played the Wii version, the controls are great, but VASTLY different than the VR version-- You couldn't duel wield, you couldn't point the guns completely freely, you couldn't do half of the things you can-- They had to rebuild the systems for it to be able to work this way, equating the two is just a false equivalency and not as simple as you're making it out to be. And games of Quest are already fairly cheap, some could be cheaper-- but RE4VR is definitely not one of those games. This is a lot more than just a port that plays the exact same with a slight update, it's a full reworking of the game to play naturally in VR. Wanting $20 for that is just pinching pennies. Also how has anything related to privacy affected you? And how has it being a "Closed Platform" affected you besides Exclusives? (Something almost every console has by now.) You have Sidequest which is a whole extra store of Free and Cheap games, you have Link which let's you connect to your computer, you have app lab so you don't even NEED Sidequest half the time, and plenty of multiplayer games on the Quest Have cross-platform play.

Johnichu, ImpulseCdog and Null are morons, I just want to make that clear. It's not "just" pickup lines, it's a game that impacts culture and it's also character development.

The experience is completely different, the tank controls is what takes the cake, the original would not have been that good without those controls

GREAT REVIEW! The censorship is absolutely ridiculous.
thank you for mentioning the censorship, it should not be overlooked, and it should be a cautionary tale for everyone, dont give in to these people.
The ballistics line in the remake has already been cut from the game. I'm sure it'll censor much more than that.
Worth every penny, would buy again.

If snakes are what scare you the most in RE4 (raises hand), they're still here. StrategyWiki has a great FAQ that highlights which crates will have snakes in it and works with this version.
Yooo awesome
the snakes were honestly the scariest part of the game
Yooo man I just beat RE4 for the first time, I avoided it for years cause I despise snakes And cause of you I got to play this awesome game.
Im sure i could agree but after 5 months I still pick it up to play it from time to time the gameplay feels so good. They also released the mercenary mode and challenges update(which tbh I hadnt played it much from the console versions) and its been hard af to get all 5 stars
"You are not a hero, You're a coward" sounds like a Leon line.
The magnitude of SAS in this videos gamplay is amazing
Yeah they will include in a Definitive VR Edition but you'll have to pay for it. Don't you know how these companies work, man?

40 dollars is not too much for a full length vr campaign. That being said, I did get my copy on a discount.
In my opinion you should get a meta quest 2
(The name meta sounds so dumb)
Res4 isnt worth it but there is other cheaper games out there worth it and if you have steam you can take advantage of the sales coming up soon
The forest, Payday 2, and Arizona sunshine are just a few of GOOD cheap games you can play
Youll need a pc that can stream to your quest though which you have to download a program which cost 20 dollars but after you figure it all out which is easy, you got a decent cheap vr and abunch of awesome cheap games
Its basically how i did it
Edit: id wait and see if res4 price drops for christmas. Only way ill buy it
@@phantompain2466 eh I don’t like Facebook and I don’t wanna have to make an account (real or fake) to use a vr system. The Novistador in chapter 3-3 and 4-1 only ever existed in RE4s first release on the NTSC-U Gamecube version
There is a classic movement option with no strafing and your slowed to a crawl when aiming at an enemy

Hopefully it's a timed exclusive
As someone who has finished every single version of this game at least four times per version at least, RE4 VR is my favorite way to play this game and the Mercs mode added for free is the icing on the cake for me!!!...
Another great video Craig! Always happy to see one of your videos in my feed.
The fact you can run and shoot makes it 10 times easier than the original
They did just release a free update to give back mercenaries and added a new set of challenges where you unlock most of the missing items.
There is now, but there wasn’t at launch
$40 bucks seems reasonable for an actual complete game for VR. There are plenty of overpriced VR games that offer less.
@@keithparker7445 It IS the full game. Separate Ways is not enough truly new or unique content. Its the same levels and enemies but with Ada.
At your skill level, I feel like you shouldn't have hesitated to choose it
I'd love to play it but it's not on PCVR or at least the Oculus Rift Store. I'm not gonna buy a Quest 2 just for it.
Dude took this to heart lmao
Imo things These are things that would’ve improved this game
•add weight to all weapons
•turn ladders into a interactive physical object a player can push.
•The first Krauser cutscene should’ve been a boss fight. Mgs shit
•Enemies should be able to grab the players weapons/ Leon’s arms like in saints and sinners.
Other stuff all weapons should be a physics object and can be used to beat up enemies. And jamming should’ve been added.
And for Ashely they could add a feature to command her to duck down. Same way you tell her to wait or follow, just press the same button but hold it down. I don’t have a quest 2 so I don’t know if it would be comfortable or a living hell.
There is definitely a Merceneries mode. I’ve played it. You’re just not looking hard enough it’s in the main game menu
This review was done shortly after the game launched. Mercenaries was not there at launch
@@CriticalNobody oh ok sorry dawg
This is good honest review. Shame I didnt see it before buying the game, might've reconsidered. Theres many flaws in this port. But I'm still having lots and lots of fun. Just seeing the environments in vr is stunning and cool new way to experience the games atmosphere. The cutscene thing is a damn shame and really kills immersion like everyone has said.
All in all, it's a cool new way to experience the game you love, I wouldnt call it definitive way to play the game and I would also not recommend it for anyone playing re4 for the first time.
Can you point me to a dishonest review? I'm curious.
Glad somebody I trust reviewed this
In regards to the censorship.
Facts. GamersTM are such crybabies lmao.

(Something almost every console has by now.)

I literally just came here to laugh at the title. It isn't overpriced and it isn't a novelty. It's literally the best way to play games.
Blowing heads off is pretty cool but flirting nah that's crossing the line
This kind of censorship would probably earn the rare accolade of annoying literally everyone. Not even bothering to put a toggle or warning or replacement of any sort. Even if for some reason you were bothered by this infrequent low-grade cheesy misogyny I doubt you would want to just leave those scene with obvious cut-outs.
Even worse than kid-friendly version of songs they put in racing games or on the radio
Could you please explain why did they edited the last scene then? I mean, it was ASHLEY who came onto LEON, which he respectful declined. It's almost like whenever a women intentionally tries to get a man to have a romantic event with her, it totally alright! Even, fully appropriate! but when man said something vaguely similar, he's called a racists, sexist, misogynistic, homophobic, etc and etc. Basically any words are the being thrown around nowadays can be interchangeable and they apparently mean the same thing or whatever.
