Yeah Fleetwood Mac did a lot of songs that had deeper meanings due to the releationships in the band goin back and forth and the rumors (another great album of theirs) about stuff going on or not going on in the band.

This song is deep and lovely. I think it is an amazing example of how songs can be a mirror to the listener's soul. You hear in it what you need to hear, and it can mean different things to different people. It can also mean different things to the same person at different times in their life. Brilliant song.
So true. Landslide at 47 vs when I was 16 tugs at my heart in completely different ways. It doesn’t even have to be a romantic relationship that it speaks to. At the stage of my life I’m in now... the change in my life is my children leaving the nest. It still resonates.
One of the greatest things about Fleetwood Mac and more specifically the Stevie/Lindsey drama, was the music that came from it. It's so raw and real, especially the whole entirety of the Rumors album, almost all us have known those feelings at one time or another but none of us could say it so beautifully and poetically as they did and all while playing to each other
It's so real and it's her and Lindsay standing there dealing with it. They were together a long time and went through some of the biggest moments of their lives together. He still loved her. She still loved him. It just didn't work. Their strength allowed the art and us to win. I appreciate that.

If you REALLY want to see magic unfold on stage....Look this up: "Fleetwood Mac - Silver Springs - The Dance -1997" It's about her relationship with the guitarist that is right next to her on stage. When she turns that microphone at the end and stares directly into his eyes, there is NO ONE ELSE in that ENTIRE room. She is singing directly to him. I love your channel and your perspective on music. "Landslide" is one of my favorite songs, ever. Your thoughts are my mirror in the sky. Thanks for sharing.
This song makes me think about my parents. My dad died of cancer in 2011, and he had been married to my mom for 36 years, since they were 19 years old. She built her life around him and had to start over when he died. The lyrics hit me hard for that reason.
My whole life felt like a landslide after my wife of 23 years divorced me. Felt like everything was caving in on me. So this song is very personal to me.
Landslide is such a poignant way to put the things that just topple down on you. In the span of a few years I lost my brother to cancer, my beautiful dog died, my mom lost her sight, my niece got MS, my other niece developed a severe seizure disorder, my job ended, my daughter attempted suicide, my youngest came out as trans and had life-changing surgery, a close friend of the family's son died tragically, my cat died and my mom died. Through it all, I try to count my blessings, but fuck.
You explained it better than I've heard anyone else. I understood what I didnt get. I only discovered you years after you stopped doing this. Wish you'd come back..Beautiful
Stevie Nicks wrote this song in 1973 when she and Lindsey Buckingham (playing guitar) were in Aspen Colorado. I wrote it (Landslide) for Lindsey - for him, about him. It's dear to both of us because it's about us. We're out there singing about our lives. ~Stevie Nicks Q Magazine, January 2004
She just did a Sunday morning interview on CBS she can't wait to sing live again at 72 she truly is extraordinary the only female in be entered into R&R hall twice as solo and with her the band!
She actually wrote the song about quitting music, which was the love of her life, not lindsey. Her musical career was failing and her dad gave her six months to get it together or get a 'real job'. Her "love" in this song and "dreams" are her music but she realises she's getting older and had to find another path. Luckily Fleetwood mac came along 3 months later!
@@seanmcclean770 I was at one of their concerts and she dedicated the song to Lindsey Buckingham. Saying she dedicates this song to Lindsey because this is his song it's about him . He is the inspiration of why she wrote the song.
Lindsey Buckingham playing guitar and Stevie dated in the early years of Fleetwood Mac and brought a lot of drama with that. Both are just friends now.
@Dahoss I agree, but there must have been something emotional going on. In an interview, Lindsay said something about that she's never married, and he's moved on and gotten married, and so he thinks that this is part of the problem, and in this "Landslide", and, another concert take on it, there was emotion eminating from both parties. I saw Stevie in concert a couple years back on her solo tour. Great concert, where before every song, she gave a brief history behind it. She didn't talk about Lindsay at all, tho.
@Dahoss it was actually more of Lindsey wanting them to put off touring for a year or so and Stevie had no interest in waiting so she told Mick either get someone to replace him or she would just go back on a solo tour. Obviously her and Lindsey have never resolved their feelings. She dumped him 40 years ago but still tries to hold on to a piece of him. He moved on but you can still see the way he looks at her that she definitely has a piece of his heart. Celebs are as crazy as the rest of us
Stevie is the only woman to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame twice, once with Fleetwood Mac and as a solo artist. other great Fleetwood Mac songs The Chain. Dreams. Go Your Own Way. Stevie songs: Edge Of Seventeen. Stand Back. Stop Draggin' My Heart Around.
She and the guitarist had been in a relationship years before. Their energy is moving to this day! I’m still not sure what the song is about but sure does work with the two of them love. You’re a joy btw!
You got it right. Stevie wrote this song when she was on a vacation in aspen, Colorado and she looked out a window at the rockies and saw an avalanche and thought her life was pretty much coming down like an avalanche.
Stevie Nick's is massively underrated as a singer and her chemistry with Lindsay Buckingham (guitarist) was second to none. It was certainly full of passion whether they were breaking up or getting back together.
One of my favorite Fleetwood Mac songs of all time! Stevie Nicks recently became the first female artist to be inducted into the Rock N Roll hall of fave TWICE! The first with the group Fleetwood Mac and the other for her successful solo career! My favorite rock chick of all time!!!!!
I think she has also been humbled. She saw her image reflected in the snow, then it all tumbled down. When I watch them, I see him looking so adoringly at her, and she seems more independent. And it was her who ended their relationship.
There is definitely a story with this song and plus her and Lindsey Buckingham where in a relationship way back in the day, and when they did this song after the band getting back together for so long when they looked at each in that moment I always want to cry. Great Fleetwood Mac song!
Stevie Nicks was at a cross road back in the early 1970s when she wrote this song. She was determining whether or not to keep pursuing her music dream and relationship with Lindsey Buckingham (the guitarist in the video) or walk away. This song was never released as a single but is one of Stevie's (and Fleetwood Mac's) most memorable songs. This version is from The Dance released in 1997.
This song was written in Aspen in 1973 (She was just 25) Stevie Nicks has been left alone by her boyfriend Lindsey Buckingham(who is playing guitar) while he went on tour with the Everly Brothers. Buckingham Nicks had released their eponymous album that year to no commercial success, and that failure was her Landslide. This is the question if she will be successful, they were asked to join Fleetwood Mac NYE of 1974. This version was recorded 1997
You're so good at the interpretations India. Indeed, Stevie and Lindsey Buckingham (the guitarist) who were in Fleetwood Mac together, actually they were romantically and musically together before FM and after several years with the FM band they broke up but they did so in front of the world through their music. All of us old folks got to see it unfolding across the years and it's beautiful to see Stevie and Lindsey still love each other after all these decades, even though they have both moved on with their lives.
Went to their concert at the Q in Cle 2018 - it was one of the best I've ever been to ! Stevie's voice was on point so was the band. Her spin was a lil' slower than back in the day but so so am I !

This song was never released as a single but is one of Stevie's (and Fleetwood Mac's) most memorable songs. This version is from The Dance released in 1997.
Excellent reaction and comments about this song. You “get it”
I’ve been a Fleetwood Mac fan since the 70s and ill die a fan❤️
Stevie Nicks....A voice like no other.
Oh, what memories this song brings back!
Fleetwood Mac's album "Rumors" won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 1978, Rumours has since sold over 40 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling albums of all time,
I've always liked Fleetwood Mac. But I just can't believe that I've never heard Landslide before. Thanks!
I am SO glad you got the message on this one!!
Lindsey Buckingham was in my physical therapy classes. Really nice guy, I didn’t want to bother him for a picture because we were all doing therapy all the time but he took one with my 12 yr old daughter He was surprised she knew him. She told him we’re big fans I’ve been listening to Fleetwood Mac since I was born😊 he loved it
The older you get the more you understand and appreciate the song
Great group. Stevie Nicks is such an exceptional song writer & her voice is quite unique.
I’ve loved her voice since the first time I heard her back in the 70s
