- I made a longer Version of this wonderful adventerous Track because it's really way to Short. It's so epic.
All I did was loop it and merge the Endings and the Beginning Parts.
Now it's about 2:15 Long

D'Arnise Keep - one of the best sidequests ever in the history of CRPG's. Plus if you're the right character class, you can end up owning it and will be involved throughout the game in the running of the place.
It does give the feels of old Conan the Barbarian movie.
A lot of themes have that feel. For example Marching Mountains from ToB especially
Michael Hoenig definitely had Basil Poledouris in mind when he composed these soundtracks

No matter how many times I hear this song I always feel like it was left unfinished... which is a shame, because it's awesome...
Also it was a shame you could never romance Nalia.... I hope they change that in the Enhanced Edition comin' up.

It was actually inspired by it. On a breakdown of dragon age they were directly inspired and wanted to make it as similar as possible but still make it a different game. They called it a game wide cameo of baldurs gate xD

the good games just come out every once a whyle. Sometimes by chance. It is not just amatter of period (I doubt that so muche changed in script writing between now and early 00s). Baldur's gate and IWD are masterpieces. That happened because there were the good writers, the good musicians, the good porgrammers, the good producers all in one with the aD&D. It is not always easy to get that perfect combination. There are going to be other games with a deep literary quality.
If you ever played Dragon Age Origins in the Ultimate Edition...it came very close to the spirit that BA2 had, it certainly wasn't a similiar experience, but the old vibe was kind of back there again. If you haven't played DAO I highly recommend it :)

In Dragon Age and Mass Effect there are BG cameos. In one Dragon Age game, I think it's DA2, there is a barmaid called Edwina, she is very bitter if I recall. At the end of BG2 it is said Edwin was turned into a woman of the same name. In Mass Effect there are mentions of space hamsters. You can buy one in Mass Effect 2 and 3 I think. It's a Boo cameo.

That thing about Boo the Space Hamster in Mass Effect is indeed true.
Also, in Mass Effect one of Tali's battle cries is "Go For the Optics!", which is a reference to Minsc's "Go for the eyes, Boo!" shout.
Considering it has been YEARS since Iplayed it and almost forgotten everything about it....we ALL can have a similiar experience I guess if we just haven't played it long enough xD

I think your attitude is just the right one. Which is a critical approach to the gaming experience. If more people would be like you, rewarding the qulity rather than the"new" at any cost, the companies would invest more in quality rather than quantity. But I guess this is normal for every product on the market. Nonetheless, I reckon that this is a happy moment for the creation of new games: loads of titles (not all of them masterpieces, of course.

@TheAvatar15 Yeah, BG II was one of the games where you could have certain love interests, but if I'm remembering it right it's waaay trickier about that stuff than modern BW games are. And glad to hear you like it :)

You're highlighting the same problem that also book publishing companies and the movie industry has. It is the good and the bad of the market law. It would be nice to have a gaming industry that decide to invest on the creation of games as a form of art-entertainment. I am sure it is going to happen. What scares me the most now is the increasing of small games for portable devices. I hope it will just be a pocket of market and that it will not affect too bad the production of PC games.
I seriously hope you see it to the end! More than one time. If you're a true RPG'er you're not done with it.
I can recommend a few classes. Half-orc Barbarian, Mage(no specialization), Halfling Thief(Assassin), Human Mage/Kensai multiclassed, Monk.
Those are just my favorites of course. Halfling is perfect for thief because of its bonus to thief abilities, especially hide in shadows for the assassin.

@Thunker71 as i was saying i always had Nalia in my party mostly because i didnt know where Edwin was.
I have played with Nalia in my party all the way from Copper Cornet to final Battle in Throne of Bhaal and do i regret having her in my party instead of Edwin? Not at all.

There is a mod that can remove the experience limiter if you want to go beyond 2.9 million xp per character. It can be fun to play your character with more cards on your hand if you decide to do a 2nd or 3rd playthrough. I recommend raising the difficulty after the 1st playthrough if you do this.

im a hardcore gamer...i got my fill of CoD from modern warefare 1...i didn.t need to play the second one, it looked like the first in my opinion...they pop out some game everyyear and pump out non-free maps in the process....sounds likea great idea if your company is a total peice of shit that only cares about coin, and not the customers they lose cumulatively....guess they might have to rely on their adds

Edwin has way more spellsslots but Nalia is good too i think she had the best ending.
She acually has better stats than Edwin in fact she may have the best stats of all the NCS excluding Sarevok.
I played BG2 a ton of times when i was a kid and i always had Nalia as my mage except for when my own character was a mage.

hmmm, heh..i don't have to be a betting man to see that the practices of late...which are tossing Dog shit at a canvas sells a painting for at least a gain and a paycheck....Personally i am an artist of sorts...i care about what i put out on the shelf, if it goes that far...because personally it matter if " I EVEN LIKE IT" and not that if ill get paid or not...Art is not monkey's tossing shit at canvas, Art is people getting the job done right, Graphics or not, fuck it get it done, or hold off
There's definitely comparisons to be made Bioware made Dragon Age because they couldn't continue making games on the Baldur's Gate franchise since it was set in the Forgotten Realms which is D&D ( owner rights issue here ). They did Mass Effect because they couldn't do Knights of the Old Republic anymore for the same reasons. Dragon Age is pretty much the orphan child of Baldur's Gate. I'm surprised BG fans like you guys don't know that much about Bioware and their successive games.
The company changed so much even by the time DA1 came out, all of the black isle people were gone and the original bioware teams on the bg series had been dispersed within the company. It had SOME original people but for people like myself who think the BG era was the pinnacle of gaming, it's easy to stop caring about the modern contributions, since they've taken so many liberties in changing gameplay you can legit question if they're RPG's. It's also conicedently why WoW has lost half it's player base since TBC/Wrath; game design is a delicate balance.
Why does a BG fan need to know "that much" about Bioware? Can't they just simply enjoy the game without knowing about its owner?

Neither is Dragon Age though. It's good, but once again, no comparison.
Neverwinter nights 2 was pretty good...But after that...It seems Great games like BG and neverwinter nights are no longer in demand...the type of style that it is, i beleive is in high demand since it has great praise...it puzzles me why game makers just think they can get away with the bs they pop out of their twats today...As if people are supposed to like the art of "monkeys tossing their Shit at a canvas" then selling it cuz it looks good...but it stinks like shit otherwise...hmmph
the thing is you can get away with using those same type of game engines..and they are not even bothing to work into it...all i see going on is wasting time and money on Stupid Failure MMo crap, that time and coin could be better spent on making another planescape game...or another forgotten realms game that feels epic since they jumped the era 100 years from its previous date...Shoundt be hard to pop in an epic story there...but alas, who cares when CoD is there to play each year...(spits)
