@@ignaziozocco9870 It's perfectly possible to do the _entire game_ solo on the hardest difficulty. You just have to play really well and patiently. Yes, its hard, but its very far from impossible.
@@ignaziozocco9870 It's actually easier (BG2/ToB), because you don't have to split the best equipment, and keep whole EXP for yourself, so you are like god in the second part of the game. Especially with lvl cap taken off and minmaxing character.
I remember when this music came on for the first time my little children came running to see what was happening....even young ones could sense something epic had to be going on.
Really, the scale of ToB IS epic. I mean, sure, Illasera and Gromnir weren't exactly epic in scale, but Yaga-shura, Abazigal, and especially Sendai absolutely were. You sneak into the middle of Yaga-shura's army to assassinate him, cut your way through numerous high-level captains and lieutenants to reach him, beat him until he realizes he's mortal, and then have to hold off waves of reinforcements while he goes to get friends to help him, desperately trying to kill him before his ENTIRE ARMY notices what's going on and overwhelms you. Abazigal is a battle with an adult (half) blue dragon, plus numerous wyverns and drakes after fighting through his entire lair and killing his brown (half) dragon son just to get inside, after Elminster himself states that he would definintely not want to fight you. And Sendai has you slowly murdering your way through her entire base, with her composure cracking and fracturing as you get inexorably closer no matter what she throws at you. Ulitharids, dragons, arch-demons... you just keep coming, nothing seems to be stopping you or even really slowing you down. And then when you fight Sendai herself you have to fight multiple full-strength clones of her, each with a different class and specialty, and you have to kill each of the clones in sequence before Sendai herself is even vulnerable. And Sendai is an epic-level Cleric/Mage. I mean, a damned Lich in Saradush explicitly says he doesn't want to fight you because he knows he'll lose. A lich! The kind of monster that eats entire parties of mid-level adventurers for breakfast is terrified of you, alone. The BG series in general is just awesome in so many ways. It really is basically a love song to tabletop.
David Carper David Carper But yes this was definitely an expansion based on epic battles rather than quests and adventure. I had the *Turning Point* Mod on mine which makes the battles much much harder. The Yaga Shura battle with Turning Point was exhilarating as it tests your party's stamina and adaptability; it's one of the few battles throughout the whole of SOA that produces a real feel of comradeship and veteran band of brothers in your party as you have to manoeuvre them repeatedly to handle the challenges and balance strengths and weaknesses of each member, commanding them accordingly to strategically battle as a team. And by this point it feels very much like your party has fought battle after battle at each other's side - despite differences; even if they dislike one another they are co-dependent, should one near their death another will be commanded to shed blood to stop them from falling. I have a no-death policy; if a member dies I re load, which adds to the sense of comradeship. And by now they are all distinguished heroes in their own right. In fact some of them even talk about their loyalty and devotion to the party (Viconia ironically probably the most despite the highly unlikely relationship). This makes it feel like a real journey and tale.
I think what made this so impactful was that baldurs gate and 2 weren't exactly known for super intense music, they had a dragojn theme and some boss themes, but nothing with quite this sound. So when you pushed into Yaga Shura's camp and this shit started bellowing out it suddenly made it very clear you had just crossed the "Shits about to get real" Threshhold.
