I can’t bro, Hiroyuki Sawano truly elevates every single anime he graces, AOT, Secen Deadly Sins, 86 etc. and now Solo Levelling, I’m so glad he came on-board for the project, solo levelling will definitely reach new heights, the “worship the god” segment was incredible with the adding of layers of instruments, and the final piece was amazing to listen to
One thing from the original material not discussed here: Double dungeons are a legend in that one of the most prominent guilds stumbled into one and used the treasures they took from there to become dominant practically overnight. Also, while essence stones are individual, treasure is distributed equally among all members, so for Sung the opportunity of getting an equal share of what might be legendary loot was too good to pass up given his financial situation.
Yeah, but it wasn't that important for the story. But on the other hand, would it make a lot of sense with the look back to his mother. Jin-Woo hoped to heal his mother with loot from the doungen.

A1 PICTURES proving the haters and doubters wrong, even I was worried, but the art, animation, music, voice acting, but most importantly sticking to the source material of both the manhwa and novels, is a big win, these guys are not playing around with this adaptation 😂😂

Yeah, that's the biggest reason for me why good anime adaptation is better than original material, in 95% cases i prefer novel/manga since it rarely happens that the music, voice acting, and animation are good enough to surpass my imagination :D

5:05 I’d like to put in here a line from the Manhwa that they didn’t include that I thought went hard as fuck. When that dude started praying and the statue raised its foot, (MC) Jin Woo thought ‘No, that’s praising a different God’ right before he gets flattened.

There's actually only 1 god ( the absolute being) and this statue belongs to that being. The rulers and the monarchs aren't 'God's so yeah. What other God could he be praising?

The animation, music and voice actor absolutely KILLED IT. I LOVE they didn't hold back with the gore, they are staying true to the manhwa so far, amazing work!

The only thing you kind of missed in Episode 1 was that they said once you are awakened with a Rank you can't level it up...but I guess it'll be different in the MC's case

Started watching this the other day too, sold on the first episode and very happy with this one. Another anime I just started is "the wrong way to use healing magic" that's an isekei too and I think it's pretty good so far

One thing I really loved about this episode was the ost being performed by the status
This whole thing is exactly like a gimmick boss in a video game, or a raid in Destiny 2 (yes I play that game, yes I need help). It’s like a gimmick boss in that there’s no threat so long as you follow the mechanics. It’s also like a raid in Destiny for the same reason as well as in Destiny, boss enemies are often much larger than the player, and on top of that there is often a lot of deaths as you attempt to learn the mechanics of an encounter during a raid or dungeon in Destiny. Then in the anime/manhwa, there’s three mechanics
I mean, think about it
You have massive statues, people dying left and right, and three mechanics, and if they’re followed, you could follow a game plan that would allow for zero casualties:
1.) Walk in, bow your heads to the statue, triggers phase II
2.) Preemptively position everyone near a statue with an instrument. Presence of single party member triggers each statue. Once one is active per party member, end phase II
3.) Once all party members at the alter, exit opens. Preemptively place party members watching one statue each. Trigger phase III. Statues gain the ability to move when unobserved, flames alight in rings around alter. Orange/red for number of party members, blue for the power animating the statues,. Once all blue flames are extinguished, end Phase three
It’s like a game
If the mechanics of that room and a “game plan” are followed, there would’ve been zero casualties, and thirteen players

With every god statue, the instruments added one with the angel singing at last completing the soundtrack. What a genius sound design. Adaptations like these are the reader's wet dreams. I am content with this level of production

after watching the 1st episode last week, i started reading the manwha and finished the last chapter earlier today. After reading all of it, i can't wait to see it animated as well. if all is done with the same quality as this episode, we're in for a great ride.
Just for scale, the smiling statue is supposed to be as large as the Statue of Liberty.
