  • I am rebuilding a Puch ZA50 moped engine using a 74cc Gilardoni cylinder. In this video I am using a dremel to case match the cylinder to the cases. matching and smoothing this transition helps the engine perforce at a higher level.

I got one of the stands, and it just came in the other day. I actually made my own stand from some scraps of wood while I had to wait for the shipment, and wanted to get started on the E50 first. It's really beautiful and almost too good looking for a shop tool, if there's any complaints about it, it's so fine looking I would hate to even scratch it.
    Thanks for the content.
    Keep up the good work.

@@Corn-ped I was talking about the blue stand, but thanks for the compliment. I'll probably paint (my wooden version) after this project. Probably post a few images of it when it's ready. I'm going to probably paint the moped stand too. Not blue though. I have white paint.

Great video! Make sure you have piston clearance when crank is at BDC if you are using the stock gila piston.

Ryan does great work, kind of sloppy outside of the actual product, ordered an intake and it came unsurfaced, without a SHA stack like he mentioned, forgot to ship it out for about a week so it took 2 weeks to get it. Surfaced it and it works great but just wanted to say this, still would buy from him again.

That's a bummer. I've never had an issue. Products are great and no one else is making all the awesome stuff he is.

Looking to port and case match my dio Reed kit . Should I open the transfers on the cylinder at all or just match the case to it? Also any porting suggestions?

    • @Corn-ped
      @Corn-ped  6 місяців тому

You can open them to make them flow better but I would just match them to start. If you open them too much you can loose some low end. I typically leave them stock on aftermarket kits but open them on stock cylinders

What's your favorite moped tuning platform to build a 70CC bike. Already have a 1978 PUCH Maxi and it's tuned currently. Want another bike to modify to 70CC kit for daily use. I do not have a car and this is all I have right now. I came from motorized bicycles because it was the easiest thing to learn on. Also if you would pick any motorcycle in the 70-125CC range what would you buy? Thanks-W MERRY CHRISTMAS.
I also figured out the wheel bearing stuff.

I really like the Airsal 65 kit. Its a mild kit, does low 40s no problem. Has two rings so it lasts a while.
70-125 moto? really depends what I was going to use it for. If I wanted an indestructible bike for dicking around I would grab an XR or CRF 125.

So you would most likely stick with 50CC MOPED or Scooter segment and just buy a dirt bike? Every body tells me to get a scooter. If I love mopeds that much I would love a scooter even more. A Moped basically is a scooter right just configured a bit different. A 50CC Scooter depending on HP in PA is considered a MOPED legally. If it's around 2-3HP then it's a motorcycle. If I was looking for a bike I would look no more then 5-10HP. I am a light weight guy and have had open heart surgeries. Need a way to get around but don't wanna go too fast... Sorry about all the hard questions I am a noob to this kinda thing. @@Corn-ped

Ok, so basically your saying the best thing to do really is to eventually kit my MOPED to 65, or 70CC. Or I pick up a cheaper PUCH or other brand of moped to do a build to. Thank you for your time and honest opinions. Why would you keep the 125 off road? Just for safety reasons and other cars? Thanks- w

idk, your question was pretty broad. I like mopeds and would keep one for riding on moped rides. I have had a lot of random bikes so I use them for different things. Really depends what you are doing and what laws are where you live.
I have a Suzuki JR80 that I made street legal that is awesome. I use that all the time to rip around the city and its super reliable. But it would suck to commute on.

Ok, I live in PA. I am in one of the stricter states. All I want a motorcycle for is to go back and fourth from my house to work at least three days a week and possibly five days a week. I just want a A-B bike to go along side of my Puch that will do what I need and start all the time. I also want to be able to go to the store once in a while and get a couple bags of groceries with it as well. So to give you an idea I only put 1000 miles on a car a year. Which intern made my car a hell of a lot worse then what it was. Also, I plan to make this my daily ride and I want dead reliability and to deliver 80-120MPG at least as the minimum. Have enough power to keep up with modern traffic but easier on the pocket book and a rebuild project. I am thinking of picking another moped up or looking at some 250CC options like a GZ250 Marauder Cruiser or a Honda Rebel 250. Suzuki and Honda are great machines over all. So are any thing 50CC. I prefer bikes from the 70's and 80's. Is this some better information for you? Thanks- W.
