@@rurallivingwithtyandlisa The reason I brought this up is that the specs for the JCS plans and specs you are working from are for native rough-sawn hemlock "timbers" not "dimensional" lumber. And of course the siding is full 1"x12"pine, more substantial than what you are using. I hope to build a precut structure similar to the JCS model you are building that will be to spec. Good luck with your build.
everyone makes mistakes it's how you solve them that's part of the fun, you started that process with appropriate adjectives IMHO. And when this building is done you can call yourself a carpenter
Is your Milwaukee Miter Saw, the 10” model or the 12” model? Was wondering, as I went with the 10” Makita brand, and am so happy with it! Thanks for sharing! New Sub!
Thanks for your question… and for watching!! The Milwaukee is the 12”… and that thing is awesome!! We made the investment in the cordless for this, and many future homestead projects- including building our small home. I have been very impressed with the saw and may do a review video in the future. I also have aome Mikita tools- and they too, are awesome!! Thanks again for watching:)
I hope you know that luan "mahogany" is not mahogany nor is it in any way related to true mahogany and not only is it NOT rot resistant like real mahogany but, to the contrary, it has almost no rot resistance but it should NOT be used for outdoor projects. Also, instead of your lap joint, when you realized your miscalculation, why didn't you just use joining plates?
Hey Bob- Thanks for watching- and thanks for your comment. I'm actually going to treat & paint the siding with an exterior coat. Hopefully, I'll be ok:) Thanks!
Keep it coming 🥳🥳🥳
As always... absolutely fabulous 🥳🥳🥳
Thanks Bobby!!!
😂 great question!!!
are you using dimensional lumber? So the "4x4's" are 3.5" x 3.5"? and "2x6" are 1.5" x5.5"? How thick is that "mahogany" siding? Tx. Rich
Yes- all dimensional lumber... those measurements are correct. The siding is 5/8". Thanks for watching!

If I'm part of a gang, what's our name? 🤔
Thanks for posting an interesting project.
‘Our Gang’, would be thy name, eh!?
Half laps above both side of the door might have been easier
