Stop bashing Chrysler. Every engine, eventually needs simple things like water pump, alternator, fuel pumps, etc. They are made to break. That's why they have autoparts stores. I have changed water pumps everything from Mercedes to Chevy with less miles, so don't knock it.

109K on one water pump??? That is a dream come true for most. My 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee is on its 4th WP at 120K and noticed the bearings are loose on the current one. I think I'll replace this one myself. Thanks for the video.

I'm at 47,800 miles on my 2013 Durango RT and my pump just went. I had the same symptons. I've owned it for 2yrs, other than replacing brakes this was the only other part I had to buy so far.

My 2013 Charger RT only has 21,000 and pretty sure water pump is bad. Out of warranty so going to have to do it myself thanks for the info.

My 2011 Durango did the same thing at 52k miles. Wouldn't even hold any water at all.

    Great video!
One problem I see is if you live where there is a lot of corrosion, that metal pipe is going to be a serious problem. When I do them on older jeeps, I always get the pipe as well because they NEVER come out. That will be the worst part of the job if that pipe seizes to the pump and there isn't an easy way to access the other end.
Looking at the video again, it appears to have a hose and clamp a few inches behind the pump so it can be taken out with the pump. At least I hope I am correct.
BTW, don't pick on Chrysler too much. I have replaced several pumps in Toyota Sienna's lately with 50-70K miles. The last one was a 2017 Sienna with 62K miles. It is an unpleasant job, but they fail early. Many 2011 Jaguars with 40-50K miles. You would be surprised.

Hello Andrew thank you for great video. So I replaced that part on my 2012 dodge durango. 5.7L and I also took advantage to replace the belt as well.(13400ml). So my question to you now is . Would it be hard to replace now the alternator? I can't find not one video regarding that problem here🙄. Could you give me some advice please?? as dealer ridicules charging more than what the part will cost me.

160,000 miles and my water pump just started leaking. Not sure if it's the original one or if it's been replaced.

Mine just went bad at 149,200 miles. 2011 RAM 1500 HEMI. Contemplating if I can get another 160 miles out of it so I can order parts from rock auto and do the job next weekend. :/ Mine is not leaking yet, just making a little noise (and has been since January), but pulley is wobbling with the belt off. Took the belt off this morning and started engine, hoping the noise would be gone. Thank goodness it wasn't an internal problem!

Bought my 2012 Grand Cherokee with 90k on it... water pump was toast in the 25 miles from the dealership to my house.
I've spent my first week owning it driving my old '95 Dakota while it sits in the garage.

2014 durango rt 29K miles just had water pump fail this way. At least it's under warranty but not confidence inspiring to say the least.

Word is that they have to send around a special truck every day to pick up special delivery parts "dropped off" for "durability failure analysis" on the grounds of the tech center. It's has become a profit center. Parts are sent out for recon and resold as "like new" parts at the dealers. Next time go inside and flush a few rolls of toilet paper down the toilets, or the part if it will fit in the toilet.

Chrysler is doing an extended warranty on the water pumps. If you paid for it to get fixed they will pay you back.

LOL Complaining about something with 100K miles needing a water pump. I've been working on cars since the mid 70's. You should have been in the business when we had 351 Fors in mustangs or big block chevy in a caprice. Be glad you can do it and not take it to the dealer. Gonna do the wifes this week end I think I've got less than $200 in pump, tensioner ,belt T-stat and idler. For no payments @ $400 a month I think I'm OK.
