Hi there. For some reason Apple have limited the screen recording to 720p. Not sure why they have done this. It may change in the future with an update of IOS. In the meantime there might be 3rd party apps that record in full 1080p.

Same here, had to restore my phone recently twice (long story) because of System Other BLOAT upwards of 155GB, then after that my videos are all exporting at triple the size and I’m like WTF? Yep, hidden in options! A button I never ever noticed until this video. Why exactly isn’t “options” something in the APP itself??? Wouldn’t that make everyone’s life easier? Have you researched - Riddleagan handling camera Remedy (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is a good one off product for making sales videos super fast and make money minus the normal expense. Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my cooworker after many years got cool results with it.

A few people have mentioned this issue. I am not sure why but I imagine it could be that the original footage was not shot in 1080p or higher? Have you checked that?
@@silentgaming6396 That is odd, I just did a quick test again and recorded a 4k clip, tried both 30fps and 60fps source footage and when I tap on the options icon in the export screen it lest me go to all resolutions from 720 to 1080 and 4k and both the 30fps and 60fps options are there. Are you on the latest version of iMovie?

I just testing adding a whole bunch of clips from 1080p to 4k on the timeline and when I went to export it still had all the resolution options up to 4k. Now I am using the iPhone XR so not sure if there is some issue with the video codec on the iPhone 12 and iMovie. Try recording a quick video in 4k 30 and 1080p 30 and see if it lets you export in those formats.
so my issue is I'm editing a video that's been recorded in portrait mode and after I've edited the video and save it, the video is cropped out and doesn't show the whole video
I know it used to work like that, but on iOS 16.2, I can no longer select anything more than 720, which is a really bad resolution for 2022. Any ideas?
I initially thought that exact same thing as yourself, but if the source clip is something you have recorded yourself in 4K (2160 X 3840) then the Save > Options screen does allow you to save in 4K at the top & then either 30 or 60fps. So nothing that is screen captured will be able to be saved in anything higher than 720p. Hope that helps
do you know if there’s another way to save it? bc it seems every time i save something from imovie it reduces the quality and makes it sort of pixilated in a way. do you know a fix?

Hi, I'm using the iPhone 12 pro and whenever I change the aspect ratio of a video (in gallery) I keep loosing video quality. For example I'll have a video in 1080p , I make it vertical (1080 x 1920) for a YT shorts and the quality looks really blurry afterwards (drops to 480p) I have tried changing the aspect ratio of a video on another device (Samsung s9) and I didn't lose any image quality. Is there a fix or a way around it on iPhone ?
Not really sure. i Movie will only export out to 60fps that I am aware of. Perhaps other desktop editors give you more options. As for YT not sure how to get around that limitation either.

I wander if you have shot the video in 4k. Check in your settings under camera if you have set your videos to 4k. You can also slide on the screen in the camera app to choose between SD, HD and 4k.

When you complete the edit. click back to the projects landing page. Then click on the three dotted icon next to the project name in the drop down menu click on share project/ file..... then change your resolution settings in the pop up window.
I recorded in 1080p 60 fps on my canon m50 send it directly to my iPhone via Bluetooth, but when I edit it and export it in 1080p 60 FPS the frame rate messes up at certain parts in the video please help
It could be any number of reasons. if the other footage in the video is 30fps I wander if it is trying to export at 30fps. Have you tried to force it to export to 60fps using this method? If so and it is still messed up, it could be something to do with the video codec of the footage out of the M50. If you have a chance to get the footage onto a Mac computer you can use a free video converter called Handbrake which lets you save out to other codecs. Then import to iPhone and see if that works. Can be a complicated affair I know but sometimes it works.
You should have 1080p. Perhaps the video was shot in vertical mode or was set to 720p. Check the resolution of the video in your settings/camera section. Make sure video resolution is set to 1080p or 4k.
Hey so I was doing as instructed but when I clicked the button to save and export and all that the edit button wasn’t there below the movie tital so I couldn’t make the frame rate 60fps any help on how to fix that?
Does it compress the video at all when u make a compilation? Like some editing softwares will take my 5GB of 1080p60 video clips and tank the quality so that the file is only about 750MB total. Will this app do that as well, or does it keep the full size of the original files?
It will compress the video using the h.264 video codec. So it will be a smaller file size and yes it does lose some quality over the original footage but it is not all that noticeable.
If the direct upload isn't working. Try saving it to the camera roll first. If it fails to save to the camera roll too it might mean you are out of space on your iPhone and you may need to free up some space.

I’m actually annoyed with myself because it’s so stupidly obvious (and I could have sworn that I’ve clicked that ‘Options’ button before) but I’ve seemingly never done it in this setting before. I keep thinking of all the clips I’ve made over the years which have been at a lower frame rate than I wanted them to be! Thankfully you’ve ensured I won’t keep overlooking the same option! 👏
You could probably export it out as a 4k video if the option comes up. However the actual footage will not be up sampled. Fonts and other media would be up to 4k but the footage does not improve by exporting to 4k. It would have to have been shot in 4k to be of high quality 4k.
In an iMovie for iOS, does reducing speed of a 4K video reduce resolution or affect the quality? Also i am asking cos slo-mo doesn’t record beyond 1080 on any iPhone so far. Idea is to get slo-mo effect in 4K at 60 FPS highest resolution (smoother) video.
No it shouldn't reduce resolution or quality at all. Depends on your iphone model if you get 4k 60. I think it started on the X and XS series and is on the 11 and 12 too.
Hello. I need some help. I have the iMovie app and it has been great for editing my videos and uploading to UA-cam. However, recently, UA-cam app is not showing up in iMovie as one of the options to upload my videos. What am I doing incorrectly? How can I get the UA-cam app to appear in iMovie like it use to?
Hi there. That is interesting. I just had a look now and I have the same issue. When I first demonstrated the new version a few weeks back it was there, now it has disappeared. It is possible that Apple have removed it for now due to compatibility issues with YT and they may re-instate as soon as it is fixed. For now I would suggest exporting to the camera roll and then going into the UA-cam App to upload directly from there.

Also, someone mentioned that UA-cam is having problems with the site. That may have something to do with it. I’ll wait until tomorrow and see what happens. Not sure but Just looking at it now I can get access to my videos in the UA-cam app. The way to do it is top open the YT app then tap on the plus button at the bottom and then hit upload. Sometimes UA-cam will play back at 360p depending on the internet connection on the viewers end. So to check if the full resolution is there on YT do the following. Mobile phones, tap on the video and you'll see an overlay appear with play button controls etc on the top right of the video tap on tiny three dotted icon, then tap on the quality option and change resolution to the highest one available. On a desktop computer tap on the cogwheel icon on the bottom right hand corner of the playback screen.

Hi there, in the latest version support for 4k 60 has been added but if you read the notes on the app download page it has the following conditions: "4K at 60 frames per second support requires iPod touch (7th generation), iPhone SE (2nd generation), iPhone 7, iPad (6th generation) or later, iPad mini (5th generation), iPad Air 3 or later or iPad Pro 10.5-inch or later"

You may have a different version of iMovie. Perhaps the previous one. If so the rest settings should show up in the final step when exporting.

What would cause the upload to fail? As far as I can tell i have lost my whole 15 min video. Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah that can happen on some versions of iMovie and iOs. So export the video out first then use the UA-cam app to upload.

Why don’t I have 4K option??
Can depend on the phone you have and whether it shoots 4k. Also if you have shot the footage in 4k.
Why does my resolution only go up to 720?
Could be a number of reasons. Have you checked that the iPhone is set to shoot at 1080p or 4k? You can check in the settings section of your iPhone.
