I honestly don’t know why people keep comparing these games. They’re both difficult and have an ancient Japanese setting - that’s all they really have in common. From a gameplay and genre standpoint they’re completely different.
The only thing I didn't really like from the first game was the level requirements for missions. You'd often have to grind out the same level a few times to be about to continue with the main story, or face much harder enemies. Perfect example of this was after I finished the main story, only to find out you have to go back to London, I was about 10 levels under, and I had already done some grinding by this point. Is Nioh 2 the same?

I love The Trails games, particularly part 2, but just because nioh isn't like that, doesn't make it any less RPG. Maybe try something different, and have an open mind?
Not an open world but a metroidvania style map could do wonders with Nioh. The game is amazing but it gets a tad repetitive because of the similarities between locations. Otherwise a wonderful game.
It’s really not that hard man it just requires knowledge of your enemies knowing their move set and what not the problem is that most people die 10 to 15 times and they give up without learning said move sets then they come back later and have the same issue all you gotta do is keep at it
ivory reed I fought onrokkyi in nioh 1, 40 times to beat him. 40 fuking times. I got to the 3 boss Hino-enma who was even harder, and just quit the game. You can get burnt out fast by bullshit cheap hard bosses like that
@@gamerd8709 I had the same problem with Nioh 1. Hino just wrecked me over and over. Once I figured it out though, it became easy. Nioh devs like to place certain items/gear in the level to help you overcome the boss at the end. For Hino, it was paralysis resist gear. Get that stuff, stock up on needles, learn her moveset, and you'll find she's actually easy.
Too bad that the developers don't give a crap about the players and mindlessly copy the "play on hardest difficulty or get lost" retarded mentality Dark Souls has. They could just put an Easy Mode for people who just want to play the game and let those Dark Souls hardcore fans cry about it. At least Jedi Fallen Order gets it.
Challenge comes in many forms and for different reasons. Not everyone is gonna like the same types of it. Like I love pattern recognition as a challenge but hate straight up memorization.
I find this game harder than sekiro but I like it way more.its not just about difficulty.sekiro could have been great but the combat was very boring to me!
Bs. Nioh 2 is the hardest of the souls like games that I have played. Some times is so hard is not even funny. I love it. But its not New comer friendly at all.
@@chrisspink8873 It wasn't, though? If you like ugly visuals, clunky combat, cheesy sarcastic dialogue as if it's written by some teenage feminist and a boring excuse for a story, then I guess it was ''good'' It was garbage that ACG and Marty shilled hard because it was an Obsidian game.
Silvio Dante I actually really loved it too hahah. It had its short comings and was noticeable lower budget then say a Bethesda game but I thought it had charm and it’s design reminded me a lot of Kotor and old RPG’s I used to play. Don’t get me wrong it’s got a lot of flaws but I think it’s a great first entry with the potential for a much much better sequel!
Best game you've played this year isn't saying much because the batch of games just started with Nioh. Ori is just 13 hours...of course Nioh 2 is superior if you have a high enough attention span for it.
Edwins1984 it’s really good a bit too long imo but a very good game one thing I’ll say it don’t worry too much about items you’ll be constantly getting better shit so don’t let East game farming wear you out
I honestly want to like these games but I just can't get into them, mostly because of the dying in 2-3 hits. I'm only somewhat better at the 2D Souls-like games. I tried Nioh for about 2 hours, could never even make it to the second shrine once past the Tower of London.
Oh no ... I dont like diablo style of loot systems in souls like games , it cheapens the experience IMO , one of the reasons I didnt played the first Nioh except for the demo.
I don’t like it in any style of game because you’re forever in your inventory and as you said, cheapens the experience. You don’t feel anything when you get new loot. It’s not enough to put me off a game, mind.
Just how hard are these games? Nioh 1 and 2 looks so cool but I don’t think I have the skills or patience. For the record I found demons souls, all dark souls, bloodbourne and Sekeiro too difficult. Yes I stupidly bought them all, I do that often lol.
You can get others to help you if it gets to hard.forget about the people that say get good and use it if need be.its in the game for a reason. I'm 59 yrs old and the souls type games are my favorite but my reflexes are a little to slow for some of the tougher bosses and I'm not afraid to use co-op! Hell there were harder games I could beat like Contra when I was young and had quick reaction times.i still laugh at the people who think they are special because they can beat the harder games today.they we're much harder years ago and didn't have check points!
Stephen Urso hey Stephen thanks for the coop tip. I’m laughing at your comment about games being harder back in the day. I’m 44 and I totally agree with you. Games back then didn’t have as much content so they ramped up the difficulty to make the game seem longer. My first system was the Coleco vision but I play some Atari 2600 and 7800 before I got a system. Thanks for the reply, I will check out the co-op features.
I'd probably say too difficult, even with the combat giving unparalled freedom, some of the stiffest challenges can be found in Nioh. Especially if you're doing side missions, where they'll take bosses who were tough on their own, and have them fight together. But even if you can't beat it...the combat system needs to be experienced, one of the deepest in all of gaming.
With all this virus BS going on, why not pick up Nioh 2? It’s fun, encourages you to play with people online, and has so much content and replayability it exceeds the $60 it asks from you. Can’t recommend it enough.. 👍🏾 Dual Hatchets and Katanas have great Synergy, I love the switch Glaive though 😏
lmfao i guess Fortza Horizon is an rpg too? lmfao i mean why not? it's got a progression system, loot, and you take on the role of a driver; by people's lack luster standards that's apparently all it take to give a game an "rpg" tag nowadays. this is an action/adventure, and that's not a bad thing nor is it a bad game, i just don't get why people have a hard time advertising things the way the actually are.
CEWIIH Untrue. On top of leveling your character there is skill trees for each weapon, proficiency and familiarity building per weapon, armor/weapon management on top of Soul Cores for the Yokai shifts. It’s extremely deep and leads to high replayability. Watering it down to just a leveling system does the game a huge disservice.
Ulysses yea that’s what makes sekiro harder in hindsight nioh 2 you have alot more tools to use so it’s more streamlined imo what I’m really trying to say is nioh 2 is easier cuz of your moveset
@@christophertaylor8202 I think Nioh and sekiro have things that make each other easier or harder. Like for example Nioh has a lot more the enemies can do to harm you, however, you have more at your disposal to combat them. Depends on your playstyle too.

It's nothing like souls games. It has more in common with RPG's, than it does with souls. It's heavy on the RPG actually, with recommended levels. There's levels for weapons, magic, ninja skills; there's levels for reputation, overall levels, bonus levels... I love The Trails games, particularly part 2, but just because nioh isn't like that, doesn't make it any less RPG. Maybe try something different, and have an open mind?
It's not unfair with difficulty. When I do die I feel like I made some mistakes and could do better
I still can't get through the first one and they go and make a second.
Get better
I wish they released a pc port along with the rest of the other platforms so on release day
So should i get it if i didnt really like the first one?
Eh, probably not.
@@MrMattyPlays alright, appreciate the response matty
I fucking called it.
It's Gaiden Souls.
So sick of massive open worlds with a bunch of garbage skewered across the map. Absolutely love Nioh because of the mission based gameplay.
Not an open world but a metroidvania style map could do wonders with Nioh. The game is amazing but it gets a tad repetitive because of the similarities between locations. Otherwise a wonderful game.
These games are ridiculously hard, I learned my lesson with nioh 1
And I wouldn’t even buy nioh 2 if they sold it for a penny
I’m serious
It’s really not that hard man it just requires knowledge of your enemies knowing their move set and what not the problem is that most people die 10 to 15 times and they give up without learning said move sets then they come back later and have the same issue all you gotta do is keep at it
ivory reed I fought onrokkyi in nioh 1, 40 times to beat him. 40 fuking times. I got to the 3 boss
Hino-enma who was even harder, and just quit the game. You can get burnt out fast by bullshit cheap hard bosses like that
You just suck
Love the FFXIII-2 Music
Haha, you haven't seen Path of Exile's skill tree yet 😂
Diablo meets Ninja Gaiden, loot/mission based scenarios, yep pretty much why I disliked the first one so another pass for me
Loved Nioh 1, excited for Nioh 2 😀
Bring up the topic of Ki manage and proceeds to not mention to single most defining combat mechanic of Nioh for managing your Ki.
Stay healthy brother
I bought it once I realized it was an exclusive
Why do people always sugar coat difficulty "it wasnt for me, it didnt deliver to me" NO! haha just man up and say it was too challenging....
Appreciate your work Matty. Anything souls is not for me.
I had 0 interest in this game but after ACG's review I'm definitely giving this one a go
ACG also praised The Outer Worlds lol
@@SilvioManfredDante yea and? It was a very good game
Silvio Dante the outer worlds was good though?
@@chrisspink8873 It wasn't, though? If you like ugly visuals, clunky combat, cheesy sarcastic dialogue as if it's written by some teenage feminist and a boring excuse for a story, then I guess it was ''good''
It was garbage that ACG and Marty shilled hard because it was an Obsidian game.
Should I play PS4 version or wait for PC release?
If you have a ps4 why would you wait over a year or longer
Best game you've played this year isn't saying much because the batch of games just started with Nioh. Ori is just 13 hours...of course Nioh 2 is superior if you have a high enough attention span for it.
Ori was top tier. To already have fallen in love with this game says a lot imo.
Time to give Nioh 1 a second chance from my backlog :)
Edwins1984 it’s really good a bit too long imo but a very good game one thing I’ll say it don’t worry too much about items you’ll be constantly getting better shit so don’t let East game farming wear you out
This game is hard, I keep on dying no matter how hard i grind
It's a matter of skill, not stats. Get better.
Can't wait to play it on my PC at the end of the year, assuming I've finished Cyberpunk by then.
I honestly want to like these games but I just can't get into them, mostly because of the dying in 2-3 hits. I'm only somewhat better at the 2D Souls-like games.
I tried Nioh for about 2 hours, could never even make it to the second shrine once past the Tower of London.
hello kitty might be more your pace
AGREED!
Meekree counter? Come on bro. It's clearly three syllables. No?
Thankfully it's not Open World! Huge Maps!
yea, dont want to have TO much fun.
I hate Diablo but I love this game.
The games are extremely hard, I quit playing nioh 1 because of the second boss was ridiculously hard
And I won’t even waste a penny buying nioh 2
@@gamerd8709 Ok, we get it. Damn...
did it blow ya away?
Give Sekiro another try. That game is amazing.
Amazingly boring. Every fight is the exact same thing and there's no variety to be found in the game
With all this virus BS going on, why not pick up Nioh 2? It’s fun, encourages you to play with people online, and has so much content and replayability it exceeds the $60 it asks from you. Can’t recommend it enough.. 👍🏾
Dual Hatchets and Katanas have great Synergy, I love the switch Glaive though 😏
shoot. Was hoping for something like Jade Empire. :(
Sadly not. Don’t think we’ll ever get anything like Jade Empire again. So unique, but I hope one day the series returns.
neeyo 2
I got Nioh 2 because of Sekrio.
lmfao i guess Fortza Horizon is an rpg too? lmfao i mean why not? it's got a progression system, loot, and you take on the role of a driver; by people's lack luster standards that's apparently all it take to give a game an "rpg" tag nowadays. this is an action/adventure, and that's not a bad thing nor is it a bad game, i just don't get why people have a hard time advertising things the way the actually are.
Japo hacky slashy frenetic arcadey bodies turn into floaty orbs? Nah.
Here's a comment.
Thank you 🤗
funny , the first nioh did not pull me in but sekiro did
This is not an RPG...
@Hollow Skull How so?
And you know the thing that they have in common
Their deep
Billy the Beaut Their deep what?
Not an RPG.
Adam Jones it’s an action rpg it literally says in the description of the game
@@lilfemto It's a hack and slash, or Souls like, kinda it's own genre. Levelling up your character is the only RPG mechanic in the game.
Silly 😋
@@lilfemto ARPG is not an RPG. Having a level up system doesn't make something an RPG. Farcry isn't an RPG. Fallout 1 is.
CEWIIH Untrue.
On top of leveling your character there is skill trees for each weapon, proficiency and familiarity building per weapon, armor/weapon management on top of Soul Cores for the Yokai shifts. It’s extremely deep and leads to high replayability. Watering it down to just a leveling system does the game a huge disservice.
not nioh 2 just nioh 1.5 it looks exactly like the first one
Nioh 2 is alot more gimmicky sekiro if you got that deflect and mikiri counter down the game is a breeze
Don’t you mean more in depth instead. Sekiro comes down to press L1 to win
The first Nioh wasn’t fun for me personally. Nioh 2 looks amazing, but I don’t want to pay $60 just to put it down.
D G Breezy if you didn't like the first one you prolly won't like the sequel
I haven't played Nioh 2 yet but it most likely from seeing videos plays almost the same. I play it more for the story and history behind the characters first game was great in my eyes.
Sekiro doesn't deliver. what a shame
Awesome game, but NOT an RPG!!
e
sekiro is sh!eet , if you feel like that i will give nioh 2 a chance , i didnt like the first one, because im a great souls fan, and sekiro is the proof that even your idols sometimes sells, because there is no way in hell that sekiro is a better game than ds3 (when its only a part of it) , so nioh 2 im coming
