Level-5 is so underrated. When i was 11 or 12 Fantasy Life was released and that game was never talked about, but it kept me entertained for months

I just picked up that game digitally the other day because I saw people recommend it! :) I’m checking today if I have any of the DLC because…I think there is some, but it doesn’t come packaged in the eShop version.
@@vampbat yeah there is DLC. It’s pretty lengthy too. Hours of extra gameplay and essentially a whole extra world added

Loved Attack of The Friday Monsters. If I could evoke a similar memory or feeling for comparison, it would be like when I started playing Animal Crossing New Horizons at launch.
I hadn't played an Animal Crossing game before so coming into it was like a real escape from the busyness of everyday life and AoTFM was very much the same.
Just the simple joys of exploring this new little haven, taking things at your own pace, the little things and interactions.
If Shin Chan is anything like this, and it looks like it will be, I will be a very happy chappy indeed

Lol I literally just brought attack of the friday monsters yesterday, it's amazing, and so charming. In fact, most games part of level 5's GUILD collection are worth playing, both weapon shop de omasse and starship damrey are so underrated as well. Worth getting before the eshop purge!
I will definitely give them all a try! Also I had no idea they worked on Magic Quest or Stella Glow. I've had Stella Glow on my New 3DS for months now but have just been doing a bunch of other things this summer, like working on puzzles with my mom or watching movies.
Definitely gonna play it though!
I enjoyed my time with Attack of The Friday Monsters. It's a chill and relaxing game. I highly recommend it if you enjoy those types of games.

Great video! I'd also like to add that the first Boku no Natsuyasumi was ported to the PSP, with some changes worth checking out.
The second game was also ported to the PSP, but it's pretty much the same thing as the original PlayStation 2 release.
And there's yet another game you didn't mention: Bokura no Kazoku, a spin-off released for the PS2.

just picked up Friday Monsters today. I'm a MASSIVE tokusatsu nerd and when I saw the intro screen on a streamer's 3DS grab-bag collection, I knew immediately I needed this. I just started it tonight and I didn't expect it to be so relaxed and laid back. it's absolutely a hidden gem and heartbreaking that games like this are lesser-known and about to be much harder to find.

"Attack of the Friday Monsters" is one of my favourite indie experiences on 3DS, when Level 5 was one of my favorite SH (#JusticeForProfessorLayton). It was a simple, charming combination of a relaxing adventure, mystery, cool card game and animation à la Studio Ghibli. I also loved the changes in camera angles and the soundtrack is amazing too.
I remember that I wanted to get some "My Summer Vacation" games, only to find out that they've never been localised. So happy their new game well be available outside Japan, and it could be a good change of pace for the summer.

I'm gonna pick it up! I may get Attack of the Friday monsters just to add to the now thousand plus long backlog lmao, but shin chan looks like itt would be thoroughly relaxing and I get a lot of ghibli vibes and tbh reminds me of my childhood catching bugs in the forest and yabbies and guppies in the local ponds where I grew up, the rolling hills, picnics and summer days of my youth. Where I grew up it's become heavily industrialised and overpopulated and concrete now but I remember those beautiful memories with a care free attitude and that honestly makes me so excited! :) thank you

Attack of the Friday Monsters has been on my 3DS wishlist for a while!
Great video Felix, giving this game the attention before the shop closes.
The Guild series is still infinitely fascinating to me. Having all these legendary developers get together and work with hardware that was way out of their comfort zones and creating all these unique little titles just for the heck of it. The only one I picked up when it first released was Liberation Maiden. It looked the most interesting to me and I really enjoyed my time with it. However, it wound up being drastically shorter than what I was expecting and I was left wanting a whole lot more. I just recently found out that a visual novel sequel called Liberation Maiden SIN was developed for the PS3 and Vita (am I allowed to mention those on this channel? :P), but neither version has ever been released outside of Japan.
But I guess that's what the Guild series was meant to do. It let these developers work on whatever they felt like without much consequence of whether or not they succeeded. Some of them moved on from what they created for Guild, while others may have gotten the opportunity to expand upon it, like in the case of Liberation Maiden getting a sequel, or in Attack of the Friday Monsters getting a spiritual successor in the form of Shin-chan. I recently picked up several of the Guild games in preparation for the 3DS eShop shutting down and I very much looking forward to eventually playing them. Friday Monsters looked the most interesting to me in the modern day, so I'm very excited to finally play that, after hearing so much high praise about it!

The bug catching and wandering around the country reminds me of Yo-kai Watch! Specifically the second game. This game looks exactly like something I'd enjoy, thanks!
Edited to add: I just bought it and saw it's made by the same developers, Level 5. No wonder it made me think of Yo-kai Watch.

Attack of the friday monsters is one of those games I bought in my final purchase spree before the 3ds store closed down. Still haven't played it, but after seeing The boy and the heron recently, I'll play it this friday 💫
Have never heard of these before, but My Summer Vacation looks so chill and fun. I really hope this new one will also be released on the Canadian Nintendo eShop. Not seeing it yet, but not all get listed early I've noticed so keeping fingers crossed!
I loved attack of the friday monsters! I picked it up randomly off the eshop over 10 years ago, not knowing anything about it. I loved it, and the story was funny and cute as heck. The reveal about the main character's dad was also pretty funny.
There's a game on switch called "The kids we were". Fans of these games may take an interest.

I saw this video in my feed a week ago and followed your link to the OST. Fell absolutely in love with the soundtrack, watched a game's opening video, watched a number of reviews, and took a look at some gameplay. I decided I absolutely had to have this gem. However, while the e-shop is still technically open right now, I'm not able to add funds to my account. I'm crushed. "Attacks of the Friday Monsters" cannot be allowed to simply disappear. Hoping it returns to Switch.
I hope they release those Summer Vacation games in English, they look so relaxing and fun. Like Animal Crossing, a great game to unwind to. :3
we need more games like this, clearly theres a public for them out there that is just completely untapped since we get a game like this each 3 to 4 years period... so too rare to make people interested by this buy a console and these games, hence the very low sales compare to the 30 millions from the last animal crossing.
I always wanted to play Attack of the Friday Monsters (mainly because I'm a fan of Level-5's work) but never got around to it. Thanks for convincing me to pick it up.
I buy everything Level 5 makes so I bought Attack of The Friday Monsters as soon as I saw it. Level 5 releases are some of the best games imo. In a world of EA’s and Activision’s, I prefer games from Level 5, Atlus and NIS. That’s why I think the PS2 has the best library, smaller companies could afford to make games without these huge budgets and marketing. I think gaming’s golden age was from the SNES to the PS2. Systems in those eras including the Sega Saturn had really great games and companies weren’t afraid to take chances and make something new or experimental. There are still great games being made but they are few and far between compared to the era I loved so much. That being said Indie games on all consoles and PC, and of course some of Nintendo’s first party games like BoTW on the Switch show that we haven’t lost all of the soul in gaming yet.

I've a tattoo of Shin Chan mooning on the back of my arm. In the 10-12 years since I got it, I've had maybe 6 people know what it was of, and each one absolutely threw up with excitement.

I picked up this game many many years ago and I loved it.
I ordered the import version of the Shin-chan game but it hasn't arrived yet! So excited!
I want to try this series out, but I don't want to watch the video and get spoiled too much. What little I saw, they seem to be up my alley.
Which game do I start with? Attack of the Friday Monsters? Maybe there are fan-translations of some of the other games? Or is it best to just wait for the new one? Is there a chronological order to these?
None of the Boku no Natsuyasumi games are translated but if you do know Japanese then you can just play in release order. So Boku no Natsuyasumi 1 through 4. You can play bokura no kazuko between 2 and 3 but it’s not necessary.
If you don’t know Japanese you can play the shin Chan spinoff coming in august.
Attack of the Friday monsters is unrelated to Boku no Natsuyasumi so you can play it right now if you want.

I just finished this game and I adored it, the coming of age story game was a blast, I liked the kaiju influences and the comedy along side the likeable cast

The only game I've played on here was Attack of the Friday Monsters. I thought the game was okay. I was able to complete it, it wasn't really the type of game I expected. I am looking forward to the Shin Chan game being localized since I grew up with Shin Chan. Since I am more into relaxing games now, maybe I'll appreciate it more.
i bought AotFM years ago, kind of finished it, it's short, and the end kind of fizzled out. You never get to see said monsters.

The Summer Vacation series and Attack of the Friday Monsters are some of my favorite games. I would pay a great deal of money for English physical releases of both.

Have you considered translation patches?
For now none of the games have any fan translations, only the first Boku game has one in the works for the psp port. What always made hard for a fan translation to work is the fact that the whole Boku series use vertical text
