Starting to lose hope in the bike industry to get things right the first time, as they too often can't get the simple basics right.

This usually happens if the company culture isn’t right. You can’t have the culture right if you outsource the entire manufacturing to overseas factories.
If you don’t own the factory. You don’t have 100% control of how the product is made before they are sent out.
Having your own QA inspector employees watching over ODM factories to ok carbon frames before they are sent out is a workaround. But the factory main concern is to make as much profit as possible. Not to make the the best possible product. So they will cut corners to extract more profit. As long as the can make products can pass QA to be good enough.

Carbon and that gear box won't work really have to stick to alloy or titanium as people who use e- bikes want a bike that just dose the job that's what a friend of mine has got

Don't forget steel. It's time we really get over this love of exotic materials.

This is just another nail in the carbon coffin. 6 bolt holes! I will stick to my steel frames.

It isn't cracked, but it's a poor cover for where the product rubbed the frame like a dropped chain. Still they shouldn't have that bicycle on display.

Man, screw that! If you want to ride, find a good bike shop where the owner is the mechanic. Work with him. Dont trust this crap they're selling.

Thanks for spreading awareness, I'm just now looking into bike tech again and didn't know at all that carbon frames could have issues like that. If I'd ever think about getting a bike with one, I'll make sure just to get one with long warranty. My next one will have a carbon fork probably, so I hope I won't run into issues there.

But the mechanic cracking the frame instead of putting a spacer to adjust the fit?! Too narrow would be hard to work around, but too large is easy to fill

So many bike companies subcontract their carbon fiber production to a 2nd or perhaps 3rd world country to do their fab on the cheap, and still charge the consumer top dollar.

I'd prefer an alloy frame with a motor gearbox as alloy has more tolerance flexibility than carbon. As long as the welds are good and the frame is heat treated properly.

I don't know how much of an issue galvanic corrosion would be be but like drop outs and thru-axles the should've bonded /molded in an aluminum carriage/hanger mount

It looks more like a gouge that a crack like something has gotten caught between the ring gear and the frame and they have tried to hind it with touch up paint

It seems to me, there were fewer failure issues with steel and aluminum bikes. I heard from others about steel Pinarello and Colnago frames failing at the lugs, but never observed failures myself. Having the bike stay together is my main criteria for cycling equipment.

Does an e bike really need a carbon fibre frame?

I think this is going to be even worse than with pressfit BBs, simply because of the fact that the number of holes has tripled.

I was watching GCN's latest video where Si was showing the Team Bikes of the Tour. What was funny was when he got to the Cervelo the bike almost fell over. You should have seen the reaction from Si and some bystander who actually grabbed the bike. If carbon is so strong why can't they fall over like a normal Steel or aluminum bike? Carbon is junk. When are people going to stop paying a fortune for it?
