For me I will listen to the Ramones until I die. I'm 47 years old and I've been listening to the Ramones since I was a child influenced by my brother and his friends in the 80's. The Ramones were, like other bands, the reason why I got to preparatory school and already knew how to speak and understand English. They don't make music like that anymore these days. A hug from Portugal to everyone who, like me, knows what true music is... Ho avuto la fortuna di vedere live i ramones 16 volte e nel ‘92 a Torino li ho conosciuti di persona: ero eccitato come fossi una ragazzina che negli anni 60 piangeva vedendo i beatles.. incredibili i decibel che ti arrivavano come un treno addosso. I detrattori affermano che non sapevano suonare e che usavano solo 3 accordi : sarà forse vero ma migliaia di bands hanno provato ad imitarli senza nemmeno avvicinarsi. I Ramones, l’unica punkrock band della vecchia scuola riconosciuta universalmente MONUMENTALE anche al di fuori del genere.
The saddest part of it all is Joey died before the Ramones were inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame. Tommy Ramone said it best at the ceremony. Too bad all of the original Ramones have croaked . Only have Marky, CJ and Richie to carry on any legacy as non original members. The best replacement member clearly goes to CJ Ramone.
RAMONES needed the confines of the Studio to keep their songs in check. Live they just too damn fast. All the humor and surprise gone, just one long short song ,1234
