Thanks for the reaction! LOVEBITES are the GODDESSES of heavy metal ! In 2018 , LOVEBITES won the prestigious Metal Hammer GOLDEN GODS Award for "Best New Band" (London,UK). The winners of the GOLDEN GODS Award in different years and in various categories were such famous bands and musicians,such as : Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Motörhead, Twisted Sister, Ozzy Osbourne, Lemmy Kilmister, Zakk Wylde, Nikki Sixx, Joe Perry, Judas Priest, Anthrax, Slayer, Saxon, Nightwish, Rammstein, Sabaton, Children of Bodom, Arch Enemy (and this is not a complete list).
LOVEBITES is a Japanese all-female heavy metal band, formed in 2016 by former Japanese heavy metal band DESTROSE members Miho( bass,backing vocals) and Haruna(drums). The band has successfully performed at various major international rock-festivals many times .In the spring of 2018, LOVEBITES performed on the Japanese leg of the Warped Tour. In August 2018, they performed at Wacken Open Air (Germany), becoming the first Japanese all-female rock band to perform at the festival. Also in August 2018 they performed on the main stage of Bloodstock Open Air (UK). In 2019, LOVEBITES performed at the Download Festival in Donington (UK) and Download Festival in Madrid (Spain). Their performance in Donington was named by the festival organizers and Metal Hammer magazine as one of the highlights of the festival! In the same year they performed at the Graspop Metal Meeting (Belgium) and the Summer Sonic Festival (Japan). Unfortunately, the Covid pandemic that began in 2020 prevents LOVEBITES from performing at festivals and forced a drastic reduction of concerts.
LOVEBITES is a phenomenal band, all the ladies are talented musicians! Over 5 years (2017-2021) they have recorded about 50 original songs and all the songs are very good ! In February 2023, the 4th studio album "Judgement Day" will be released ( + 10 new songs).
🐺Miho - bass, backing vocals (in August 2021 she left the band).
🐺Haruna - drums.
🐺Midori - guitars, backing vocals.
🐺Miyako (Mi-Ya)- guitars, piano, keyboards, backing vocals.
🐺Asami - lead vocals, piano.
🐺Fami - bass (since October 2022).
🐺Miho has been playing the piano since the age of 5. She started playing the bass guitar at school. Great bass player! The fact that such a wonderful band appeared is, first of all, the merit of Miho. She came up with the idea of starting a band and what kind of music the band would play. It's a mix of power metal and "old school" heavy metal . Miho brought these talented ladies together in LOVEBITES.
🐺Haruna has played drums since she was thirteen years old, she also plays keyboards. Haruna is the smallest (4 '9 ") , but appearances are deceiving. When Haruna sits down at the drums, this is the "little BIG Engine." She is one of the best drummers in Japan.
🐺Midori (blond hair) has been playing the piano since she was two years old and the electric organ since she was eight. She started studying guitar at the age of 20. Super guitarist, "Crazy Shredder". She surpasses many male guitarists in speed and technique of playing the guitar.
Graduated from ESP / MI JAPAN ( Osaka ) , GIT-DX department (superfast guitar department). ESP / MI JAPAN is an International Music Institute , headquartered in Hollywood, California, USA.
🐺Miyako (black hair) has been playing the piano since the age of three, received a classical education (piano) and wanted to pursue a career as a pianist. She has been playing the guitar since the age of 18. Super guitarist! They call her "The Golden Touch" and she is a real musical genius. Miyako is the main composer of the band, she wrote 50% of the music.
* In terms of teamwork , synchronization / harmonization of guitars , Midori and Miyako today are perhaps the best pair of guitarists in the world playing metal. One music critic said that two guitarists of this level (Midori and Miyako) in the same band is a crime!😊
🐺Asami started with R&B and soul music . She studied classical ballet for about 16 years (this is noticeable in her movements on stage, especially the movements of her hands). Started ballet lessons at the age of two. After leaving school, Asami lived for some time in the US, where she came to study jazz and hip hop dance. Plays the piano. Asami wrote most of the lyrics of the band's songs.
🐺Fami is 20 years old, plays bass, keyboards, guitar, writes songs, sings. She has already released her solo album, which she dedicated to graduating from school. Despite his youth, Fami has experience of collaboration with famous musicians..
All songs LOVEBITES are written in English. Unlike other metal bands, LOVEBITES are always on stage in white dresses . White dresses are their style. The Wolf is the mascot of LOVEBITES and is featured on all band's albums except the first EP "The Lovebites". The band's fans call themselves the 🐺Wolfpack🐺

Love bites is a representative metal band in Japan.
Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 Lovebites is one of the best bands in our country. We say "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music". (Totally different from Korea) The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.)
Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄

You’re in for it now, the Japanese female rock/metal scene is wide and varied. Lovebites, Nemophila, and Band Maid are probably the big 3 but there are plenty of others too: Hagane, Trident, Lonsome Blue, Hanabie, Gacharic Spin and about 30 others, all with incredible talent and skill , once you dive in you just can’t stop.

Welcome to the Wolfpack. :) I found these ladies about 8 months ago and was blown away - they quickly vaulted to the #1 spot in my favorite bands.
Every single one of them is a virtuoso in their own right.
Asami (vocals, piano) has a stunning voice and before Lovebites had not done metal before. She also helps write a lot of the songs.
Haruna (drums) is called The Little Big Engine and is one of the best drummers of our time.
Midori is the left side guitarist and is an amazing shredder and bodybuilder as well.
Miho on bass (along with Haruna) started the band. She is fantastic and authored or co-authored many of the songs. She has however left the band (but the new bassist Fami is incredible as well)
Finally we have Miyako (guitar, piano, keyboard) who is a multi-discipline master of music. She writes, plays classical piano (see the song Swan Song with Chopin intro) and even on a few songs has been known to play a badass keytar. (Spellbound)

Haha yes! Lovebites! You've been bitten! Welcome to the Wolfpack! I'm not sure if it was me you were referring to, or if another listener also recommended them to you, but I knew you'd like them and had to hear them. I really wanted to see what your reaction would be, and I deliberately said nothing about what they were or were like lol.
They're absolutely masterful technically, and they each have a pretty amazing background. Asami, the lead vocalist, comes from R&B backup singing, studied ballet for 15 years, and didn't know what metal was until she was invited to join the band. Miyako, stage left, the first guitar soloist, studied piano since the age of 3, and just before graduating high school to embark on a career of classical piano, she took up guitar instead. Midori, guitaris stage right, picked up guitar late, at the age of 20, and is a classical shredder, where Miyako is more melodic. Haruna, the drummer, and Miho, the bassist, founded the group, both having come from a legendary Japanese metal band, Destrose. Also, one thing that may have thrown you, from their pictures, is that they made a decision at the founding of the band that they wanted to portray metal as positive, so they only ever wear white, and their lyrics are all positive. Instead of all-black leather etc, you'll see them pretty much only ever in white dresses.
You absolutely need to listen to more of them. While Holy War is the usual place to start, since it gives you an idea of what they do, its far and away not my favorite song by them, and they have a bit of a range. If you want an amazing guitar handoff and transition, and more thrash, try Break the Wall, live from Zepp. If you want a blistering guitar solo and a chorus that is absolute fire, try Set the World on Fire. If you want high octane, relentless, in your face metal, try Thunder Vengeance, live from Zepp, the show opener. If you'd like to see another side of them, try Swan Song (with the Chopin intro) or Frozen Serenade, and you can see Mitako's piano influence. Edge of the World showcases Asami's vocal background a bit more. A personal favorite that's off the beaten path of reactions is Empty Daydream, an 80s rock style song with vocal harmonies that would have been a hit in the 80s, and really shows Asami's R&B background. I recommend it all. They're one of the most amazing bands I have ever found.

I recommend my two favorite Lovebites songs, both live: "The Awakening/Hammer of Wrath" and "Break the Wall".
Dude, when I discovered these ladies, I was blown away too. They have elements of old time metal, which makes it so enjoyable to listen to, plus their talent level rivals any bands out there right now. The bassist in that reaction has since left, but her replacement is just as, if not more talented. Lovebites fans are referred to as the Wolfpack, join us, you won't be disapointed. As another replier pointed out, Band-Maid is another hard rock all female japanese band that will blow your mind as well. Their fans are known as Maidiacs...I'm not sure what Japan has in the water, but we need some here in USA, Lol. Enjoy the ride!

I could point you to some of my favorite songs like Shadowmaker, Swan Song, Rising, Set the World on Fire etc but really anything you find on UA-cam will be awesome.

Yeah, that was live. The drummer, Haruna, is basically a human metronome. The blond-haired guitarist, Midori, is the dictionary definition of a rock star. More song to listen to: "Thunder Vengeance (live)," "Set the World on Fire (live)," and their newest song with their new bass player, "Judgement Day." That should get you started nicely.

Excellent reaction my friend. That was one of my favorite first time reactions to Lovebites. You recognized so much in one listen that others have missed after ten reactions. Lovebites is a phenomenal band. They won the 2018 Metal Hammer Golden Gods award for best new band. Now you see why. IMO Midori and Miyako form one of the greatest guitar duos of all time. This is awesome. Honestly, no worries about the confusion. Especially when this was recommended because of your past reactions to BTS, you'd naturally think they'd at least be similar. Any true fan won't hold that against you. Especially the Wolf Pack, they are a pretty awesome group of fans.
It's always nice to see more people react and get introduced to Lovebites as they are just too talented, especially seeing another musician react to them. You can just see that genuine appreciation from a fellow musician for Lovebites. So thank you for checking them out.
Also, now that you've reacted to this, it's inevitable that you go down the rabbit hole to which you will never return from, but don't worry, that's a good thing. Even just going down the Lovebites rabbit hole itself is a wonderful trip, but also the J-Rock/J-Metal rabbit hole as well. Goodness the amount of awesomely talented bands in that scene is almost unfair. I know others have already mentioned many of those bands to check out, so i'll just say 2 suggestions i'd like to see you check out sometime. One would be Band-Maid because they are actually about to have their 10 year anniversary and they are just such a fun band to listen to. Great reaction but expected tbh and yes Herman Li was impressed, so much so Dragonforce took them on tour as support in 2019, that's when I first discovered them(Roadmenders, Northampton, England) me and my friends were absolutely blown away by them🤘

Korea and Japan are different countries for anyone who didn't realise that.
He mistook them for K-pop because all the requestor gave him was a name and photo, after he had reacted to BTS, which is a K-pop (not J-pop) group. His error can be excused. Many reactors intentionally don't do research ahead of time, because they know the viewers want to see a true first-time reaction, and wrong expectations are often a delightful part of that experience.

They have toured with and jammed live Dragon Force , and then next tour will be on their own I think Heaps of great live clips,, Hammer Of Wrath, Raise Some Hell, Swan Song with Chopin intro, Frozen Serenade. After seeing these , you will have been Lovebitten and become a lifetime fan. You have been warned. : )

They are one of the many children of "Destrose" ... For the past 15 years Japan has seen a boom in all female metal bands of exceptional quality with "Destrose" being one of the top , if not the top imo. Sadly they were constantly loosing members and finally disbanded but all past members went on to form/join new bands with "Lovebites" being one of them. The basist and drummer were both former "Destrose" members. Unfortunatelly there are very few "Destrose" videos around and most are of poor quality. Other notable bands imo are "Aldious" , "Mary's Blood" , "Galmet" , early "Bridear".

Nothing gives me more pleasure than seeing the look on someone's face when they start out with just a picture, only to listen and realize they aren't J-pop (or K-pop)! The Japanese metal scene (especially the all-female J-metal scene, which is big) is all about defying expectations!
Btw, appropriate that you mentioned how Herman Li would be impressed. They toured with Dragonforce, and guitarists Midori and Miyako appeared onstage with Dragonforce to play a song or two, and Herman actually came out onstage in a white dress as the "newest member of Lovebites," lol!

Amazing band, simply amazing. This is a rabbit hole you really must travel down.
Herman Li knows them quite well, they toured with Dragon Force in England prior to the covid lockdown!! The lady who did the first solo has never had a guitar lesson!!!! She does play the piano quite well, too. She began piano at 3 yo.
Asmai, vocals, sang R&B, Soul pior to Lovebites - knew practically nothing about metal. They are all very petite; Asmai is 4'10" and Haruna, drums, 4'9". That's why they wear white.
There are 200+ Rock/Metal bands in Japan with about half all female. Some to checkout; Band Maid, toured the US last year - 14 cities all sold-out; Nemophila, Last year played the Whisky a Go Go and the Aftershock festival, will be touring the US this March; Unlucky Morpheus, male-female mix, you'll love the violin.

Fantastic reaction. I must apologise on behalf of Lovebites fandom (“the Wolfpack”) for the unfortunate comments below. You didn’t label the girls, you stopped, said “wtf” and proceeded accordingly. I’d read some of the comments before the video, and was curious to see what had happened because someone in a Lovebites FB group said how they couldn’t understand why you got a bit of flak.
Anyway. I’m 63. I’ve listened to rock since 1974. I’ve seen Purple, Zeppelin, Rush (loads) Rainbow, Dio, Queensryche, Ozzy, Whitesnake, AC/DC with Bonn Scott, Maiden with and without Paul DiAnno. Hell I even saw BB King and Ravi Shankar.
So if I tell you that these women are the most talented that have ever set foot on a stage, I’m not some fanboy with zero knowledge.
They are, put bluntly, the most complete musical act ever. And you will not see a single performance or MV that deviates from the standard of Holy War. Bold statements, but I mean every word.
It’s all good but I appreciate the love! My band is independent and diy so getting a little flack is NOTHING new! I’m really enjoying them, I think I’m going to do a deep dive into J Rock/Metal in general bc I’m very intrigued!

He already mentioned Destrose's connection to Lovebites, but Lightbringer keyboardist Mao is a frequent collaborator on songwriting for Lovebites, as well as rising newcomers Lonesome Blue, who similarly have connections to Destrose, Lovebites (Asami wrote some of their lyrics) and Lightbringer.

Band-Maid! They are more centered on Hardrock with but with prog, punk, metal, rock, blues, jazz and many other styles mixed in. Any given song by them can have any mix of styles across more than 100 songs, and every one of them is fantastic! It is unreal. Out of Japan #1 Band-Maid by a mile, the song writing and musicianship is out of this world. I've seen them live 16 times in the last 4 months, #2 Nemophila great metal band with some song writing variety and style, I've seen them live once and I am going to 2 shows in March. #3 Lovebites, i really like this band and I have 3 of their albums, but all of the songs are very tightly in their niche, when i have the itch they scratch it nicely, waiting for them to come to the US for a show.

I only heard this song (and honestly about this band) literally one day ago, and I can HONESTLY say that I'm already a fan of them.
I know that numerous reactors say that the chick that does the first guitar solo wasn't smiling like everyone else, but my personal opinion is that's simply because she not only knows how good she truly is, but to her it was essentially 'a Tuesday'.
By that I mean she's NOT a 'glory-hound', meaning she's NOT trying to steal the spotlight regardless of how good she is but rather is supporting her band mates as any TRUE professional musician would.
At least that's my own personal view about this video/song.
Now I had a couple suggestions for reaction videos:
1st - Take Hold of the Flame (Live in Tokyo 1984 version) by Queensryche. Now I know that you're familiar with Queensryche (I love your reaction video to Eyes of a Stranger), but I honestly don't remember if you ever did a reaction to Take Hold of the Flame.
What makes Geoff Tate's vocals so impressive is that Geoff Tate is actually a NATURAL Baritone (about mid-range if I remember correctly), and yet due to years of study and practice and training Geoff Tate extended his vocal range up to that of a Tenor. And in the song Take Hold of the Flame Geoff Tate spent MOST of the song in the 5th Octave, WITHOUT going into Falsetto but rather STILL being in normal Head Voice.
2nd - Hell to the Heavens (Official Video) by Leaves Eyes. The ONLY reason I suggest the Official Music Video version is because the video depicted visually what the lyrics are trying to portray from an audio standpoint.
But even if you never do reactions to either of those, again GREAT reaction video as always dude.
