I am too young to have seen Porcupine Tree in concert but since I discovered Steven Wilson I saw him 4 times and every time I came out of there thinking "that was the best musical experience of my whole goddamn life". Every single show's last encore was this song, right here.
You guys rock. I had the absolute pleasure of seeing Steven Wilson live up in London Canada before the pandemic. His encore was "The Raven that Refused to Sing" and it was absolutely mind blowing. The wall of sound his band produces takes you on an emotional journey like no one I've ever seen live. The only ones that would be close are: Dream Theater, The Neal Morse band, and Pineapple Thief. Would love to hear you do Pineapple Thief, "White Mist". Rock on!
SW explained this song. The old man is at the end of his lonely life. His sister, Lily, died when they were very young. She used to sing to him whenever he was insecure or afraid and it calmed him down. For whatever reason, in his old age, he starts to believe a raven that frequently visited his garden is his sister. The dark shadows represent his fears, so he hides behind the raven/Lily for protection, but it wouldn't sing...
He is just a genius and he also has the amazing knack of attracting talent; first with Porcupine Tree, then his solo stuff, guest singers, film and animation people.
Siempre expectante de su visita a Argentina...y dónde sea que toque ahí estaré como siempre. Chicos, muy bueno el canal. Saludos desde Buenos Aires.🎵🎶🇦🇷

You are NOT wrong. Wilson is a genius of our time lost in a sea of noise.

Steven Wilson has said in multiple interviews that this is his favorite song he's ever created.
He was kidding.

An absolute masterpiece. One of the greatest, most emotional songs I’ve ever seen performed live. Great reaction.
