If you’re this excited watching it online, you’d lose it in person. Each concert is an event that we anticipate for months in advance then savor seemingly forever. Few bands approach what they do ❤️
The awesome keyboardist is Adam Holtzman who used to play with Miles Davis. Steven Wilson has assembled a group of stellar musicians on all of his solo albums (minus the first one which he mostly did himself). They're all great, especially the first four.
I was lucky enough to see Steven Wilson on the opening night of the Raven Tour in Manchester. I seemed to remember him saying that it was opening night, so there might be a few mistakes... this was the opening song and it was flawless (in my ears)
Loving the reaction guys. So great to see your enthusiasm and positivity and openness. Fabulous choice of course. Anything to do with the genius that is Steven Wilson you are on to a winner - and you have taken the right track by ALWAYS doing the live versions too. Anything by SW in the studio is perfection, but anything he does live is just beyond belief! If you loved this one (which clearly you did) try Ancestral LIVE next! Keep up the great work.
Steven is one of the only cats I've ever seen who can have 47 world class musicians on stage with him and yet he still is going to play every damn instrument on that stage at least one time every song!
@@manco828 I’ve not listened to much Radiohead. Is Thom a Multi-Instrumentalist like Steve? I know he is considered a top shelf Writer but I don’t know anything else about him really. I do know many people have recommended them to me but so far I’ve not listened to them. Cheers!
Nick Beggs, the guy who has the reverse career arc compared to Phil Collins i.e. starting out as a pop star (in Kajagoogoo) and became a progrock star in the new millennium.
Never knew this! I just started delving into Nicks work (specifically The Mute Gods) and am in love with almost every song by that band. I would be so intrigued to go back and hear his pop!
Someone in the comments already mentioned Mozart. I can tell you this.....At this very moment of time where we spent our days, there are three Mozart Beethoven etc. class composers. The three of them rule. It is Tuomas from Nightwish, Arjen Lucassen from Ayreon and Steven Wilson from Porcupine Tree. Three reincarnated Mozarts ....... Put up statues for these guys!!!!
Marco Minnemann is one of the most talented drummers I've ever had the pleasure of seeing live. He's also a member of The Aristocrats along with Guthrie Govan and Brian Beller, which I highly recommend checking out
Do you two realize that Steven Wilson was the leader of Porcupine Tree? He doesn't look familiar? He is one if not the greatest musician, producer, songwriter and engineer in the Rock world! In the last couple of years he has remastered albums from icons such as Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Gentle Giant, Genesis and many more. Keep up the great videos and giving your perspective.
Great musicians . Wilson and Minnemann are pretty famous but all of them are amazing ! From the beginning is already fire . Great comment from Suzi and empathy from Travis . The flute seems inspired by Jethro Tull to me ! Although the only musician i know a little is Minnemann the drummer . Obviously i have listened to Porcupine Tree , some songs and all very interesting !
Lelgard (or anyone for the matter) .. Please request some Extol, Fleshkiller, or Azusa please! Or, ALL three if you dare! The Wolf HunterZs are being deprived! (and probably most of their listeners)
Next level musicianship and absolutely humbling.
Bass by the magnificent Nick Beggs, who was in the pop band Kajagoogoo in the 80's
Steven Wilson’s music it’s always fantastic 👌

Nick beggs, Steven Wilson, and marco minneman... It's a masterpiece.
just missing Guthrie to make it even more god tier.

Even his first solo album features people like Gavin Harrison, Tony Levin and Jordan Rudess, among others.
His...best...song....Glad you loved it!
Steven Wilson - Ancestral
You cannot miss that one, such an underrated song
Marco Minnemann (the drummer in this video) is just stunning. I follow him as a musician and he's just absolutely amazing.

I’ve heard and watched this performance many times and you made it fresh with your genuine / intelligent reaction. Thank you.

He's up there with Thom Yorke.

@@maxmaidment96 Thanks for the hint! The Mute Gods and especially tracks like "One Day" reminds me of another beloved artist: Devin Townsend :)
Check out Steven Wilson's live video on Yahoo Nation with the song Ancestral. Crazy drumming..crazy bass ..crazy guitar. SO GOOD!
Wilson also produced three Opeth albums, one being the prog-metal masterpiece Blackwater Park...

Pedazo de rola.
No one else may have appreciated that Hot Rod reference, but I did
The Mozart of our time.
Adam Holzman on keyboard, once in great while he could be mentioned, maybe….
If you don't already know it and you love bass try Stanley Clarke Schooldays
Karnivool - Deadman
if you like this you should try Vermillioncore as well
I hear john McLaughlin, Genesis and Gong in this track.
