Having lived in both - it really depends on the person and where they are in life - overall though, long term, I can see how Calgary can appeal to many.
Calgary is the only major affordable city for current and future generations Canadians and Immigrants. I am already seeing some of my friends and relatives who work from home moving to Calgary. We will see more of this trend in coming years

Expensive in British Columbia,south Ontario especially Toronto and surrounding areas, Calgary, Can more in Alberta,Halifax,all the rest may still be expensive but compare to the above mentioned, it is way better already, Quebec is affordable but knowing French is important there
