Flash tuning an Audi SQ5 twin turbo daily driver to 35PSI! Dyno, 0-60, 1/4mi of V6T 3.0T TDI

  • Gone are the days where diesels are sluggish truck engines. Bring in the age where a stock standard SUV can do the 0-60mph sprint in under 5 seconds..
    We recently just picked up an Audi SQ5, which in true StreetFX style, needed some modifications right away :)
    We chat to E-Tuners and see what kind of power and torque we can squeeze from the twin turbo V6 diesel 3.0 litre.
    Many thanks to E-Tuners Brisbane for the tune and GT Auto Garage for the dyno time.

    New diesel’s love boost. My 2014 5-series M5-50D with tripple turbo’s are running 520hp/1050nm @ 55-58psi / 3.8-4.0 bar on all four wheels. Originally it’s boosting to 50psi / 3.5 bar and 380hp/740nm.

    • @StreetFXofficial

      58psi?!? Are you sure that isn’t including atmospheric pressure of 14.7psi?

    • @Crisytaisr
      @Crisytaisr 5 років тому

      Bmw says "Maximum boost pressure is 3.5 bar", when the engine is original with no tune. If I check the boost it starts at 0bar and stops at 3.8-4.0 at full pull. So I guess it’s 5bar with atmospheric pressure.

    It's a sequencial turbo setup. Basically a compound turbo setup. That's why it looks weird. The turbos are different sizes. One blows thru the other. Helps eliminate low down lag while at the same time having good topend power. Sure u knew that. Just wanted to get that off my chest. Lol.

    • @StreetFXofficial
      @StreetFXofficial  5 років тому +1

      I got a low km 2013, love that they don't have adblue. Previous owner flashed it 390hp 933Nm. The 8sp trans is better than the DSG in the Q5, they are known to fail often and happened to a mate, exy. The only mod it has is the software upgrade but it has some nice factory options. Don't really need it to go any faster. 20" rims are less jarring than the 21s. They chew out the back rotors if you drive on radar cruise. MPC(Vic) did the tune

      My Audi was under warranty when I had it flashed tuned and then had to delete the tune because I had to get an upper sump leak fixed under warranty

      It’s big enough to carry all our race gear, and far more practical than the majority of our cars 😂
      Wouldn’t mind a current model cayenne v8t diesel though, but double the price 😬

      @@StreetFXofficial did Australia get v12 tdi q7? We had those here in Poland, great car, but insanely pricey to keep it runing. Full brake work alone was near 30k euros (yes that much).
      I have a nissan murano for haulin shit around, but my main is an infiniti fx50s (and its a bit too small for me, planning to change for a new lx570).

      I considered the lx570 as it was the same price as the sq5, but after I drove the Audi I was impressed with its acceleration so just bought it. Already have a prado if I need an off road 4x4.
      We did get the v12 TDI Q7 but only the older model, and they’re much slower than the current v8 TDI SQ7. Even the SQ5 is faster than the v12.
      Unsure why they didn’t wind them up more.

      Pez, uneducated about what? I cannot have my own opinion on racing engines? Diesel engines are not the best options for a race engine, otherwise AUDI, BMW, Lamborghini, Ferrari and so forth would have their top racing models equipped with diesels. The fact that none of them do might be my un-educated guess that diesel are maybe not the greatest performance engines.... great for trucks, boats and trains.... but not for race cars... what’s your take?
      PS: I am aware that there have been some Le Mans and DTM racers with diesel engines and they also did great winning some stuff. But still remain rare.

      @@stefanosavoia9144 The diesel was banned due to being too advantageous with its better fuel economy, and we are not talking about race cars for fucks sake
