    I’ve had my machine for almost a year now and i can never use the mask for more than 3 hours. I typically rip the mask of my face while I’m sleeping. I’ve tried different masks. I’ve asked my dr to reduce the pressure while I get used to the pressure but he won’t.. I will say the nose mask is the most comfortable. It sits under my nose and there is only one strap. If you’re struggling, you are not alone!

      I also suffer from ADHD so I understand the sensory issues. If you can, try starting therapy in the daytime so you and your body can get accustomed to it then gradually switch over to nighttime use.

    Hello, I have used a cpap full face resmed for 4 years and I have found that once you have put it on I will only breathe through my nose till I fall asleep. This will help with dry mouth. I also use a V pillow with my bed head slightly raised and sleeping maily on my right side. This allows me to get comfortable and get a good nights sleep and only getting poked by my wife occasionally. Thank you for your interesting and informtive videos. Here in the UK my hospital has been very good with this treatment. Take care and be well.

    I have been using CPAP since last April, two months after it in my checkup I told my doctor I was having "sensations" in my chest area, noticed my heartbeat more easily, not pounding or racing, just noticed it and some muscle twinges. He said my heart and lungs sounded great, but it slowly got worse with time. I had a treadmill stress test in October and my heart was fine, I got Covid in November but had no heart symptoms and the cardiologist said it was very low chance that this strain affected my heart, I had been under TONS of stress putting my parents into the hospital then rehab then assisted living but I didn't think it was from that. My chest muscles hurt as well as my rib area, so I Googled "chest muscle pain and CPAP" and found many people complaining of the same issue and more! I talked to the doctor's office and I told them about it, he is going to lower the pressure for me, but in the mean time I set the Reslex to 3 which will provide the least resisitance when I breath out and after a few days of that I feel somewhat better, but I hope by lowering the pressure my muscles won't hurt as much having to breath out with this machine, I need to use it so I don't snore like a lawn mower! My tests showed I woke up 17 times an hour so they said I was in the medium-high range, plus that was no good for my health so I need to get this wehere I can use it and get good results but not feel like I am in an upper body cast lol!!

      Hello,
      Usually, first-time CPAP users prefer nasal or nasal pillow masks. You can switch to a nasal mask and see if that gets rid of the feeling of not being able to breathe.

    I started CPAP therapy 25 days ago and it's not going well. I'm averaging about 3-4 hours per night and I feel worse than I did before. They gave me nasal pillows a few days ago and I wake up several times with my mouth wide open, so I need one that covers my mouth. I've tried the one that goes under my nose (Resmed F30i) and the same version by F&P. The Resmed kept making the PFFT suction noise against my nose every time I breathed in, so they gave me the F&P. The straps on that one drove me nuts, but the big issue was that it would come apart in my sleep. I would pull off a plastic piece that would make it come loose. That's when I tried the nasal pillows. I may try the Resmed F20 mask and do my best to get over the suffocation feeling, which has also been a big problem. Exhaling against that pressure is difficult to get uses to as well. I was diagnosed with narcolepsy 25 years ago, so I'm dealing with 2 sleep issues now. It's a balancing act for sure. All I know is I am always exhausted!

      Hi,
      Thanks for reaching out! Personally I never start patient's with a Pillow mask because those are the hardest to get used to due to the harshness when you open mouth. The Full Face is too cumbersome and annoying, most people hate those as well and quit. Regardless of being a mouth breather you can get used to and benefit from a nasal type mask. I recommend for all my patient's the N20 by Resmed. That is like the best of both worlds and a great mask to start with.

I understand it takes a while to get used to but I’ve been told I have to wait a month, likely more, to get a machine and mask and start using it properly. I’m ready to go now. Was going on boss, really enjoying the content. Just subscribed to the channel. I have a question about events per night. I'm having about 30-40 events per night with my Cpap machine. I'm having another study done with a Auto SV machine. My question is how can I be having events if I constantly have air coming in from my mask? Isn't that why I have the machine in the first place?

    • @Sleeplayground

      Hello,

    HI, awesome video which I greatly appreciate. do you have any videos about people who fail CPAP because it was not effective for the? this happened to me and I was switched to bi level, even though I have only obstructive sleep apnea. I think it would be very helpful because it was very discouraging to use CPAP every night only to eventually give up due to 47 and 57 events per hour. thanks once again for a great video.

    • @Sleeplayground
      @Sleeplayground  Рік тому

      Awesome suggestion! Yes, I am just assuming you may have had a home sleep study the first time. They usually provide an auto cpap to you once you are diagnosed, that adjust as your therapy. Because the home sleep study will give the diagnosis of Sleep Apnea not the machine needed either. When that fails then you would qualify for a BIPAP machine. Unless you went into a sleep study in a facility the first time the home sleep wont detect the need for BIPAP.

      Yes, because you are swallowing the air rather than breathing in and out against it. There is a device call the V-Com which is made specifically for this due to higher inspiratory pressures. I have provide the link below but also it is a matter of practice when you feel that in the middle of the night if aware. You can shut off the machine and start again to start low and the more you do the easier it should be. sleeplay.com/products/sleepres-v-com

      Yes, that mask the pillow mask are a little harder to get used to. Due to the fact that they go in the nose but block the nostrils. So when you open the mouth it is harsher. I would suggest the N20 mask my favorite and been recommend to patient's of mine for years. If you choose to use a nasal type mask it is awesome.

      Sometimes, the cause of congestion can be the air your CPAP machine is pushing into your nasal passages. If that air is too dry and cold, it can dry out your airways, even if your mask fits properly with a strong seal.

      Hi, Yes, so I advise patient's if you have an Auto machine that adjust. Even is you have a nasal mask and open your mouth, it will adjust to make up for slight leakage. The main two things that you wanna make sure are happening regardless. 1. Comfort 2. Events per hour need to be below 5.
