This is the EXACT video I was looking for -- thank you. I have extreme OSA, and my dad has CSA. We both use BiPAPs. I’ve tried about six full-face masks and prefer the minimal contact style, but haven’t found the perfect fit. The small-medium (no large size) AirFit F30 constricts wide noses. Re: the F30i and the DreamWear, silicone headgear was clearly not tested with black women. It doesn’t fit over braids, and top connections interfere with sleep bonnets. I think the Evora Full or the Amara View could be the ticket!

Okay, I’ve now tried the Amara View and Evora Full Face. Common goods: great for side sleepers, and the short, flexible tubing allows for movement.
I found a crazy deal ($45) on the Amara. The quick release disconnects instantly; reconnecting is a bit trickier. I like that the large headgear and cushion are generous and comfortable. (With voluminous hair and a wide nose, I have size challenges!) However, it's loose at the chin, and after a month of use, I still can’t completely eliminate leaks. And I may be an exception, but I don't love magnetic clips; they can pop off TOO easily.
My insurance bought me the Evora, which I got last week. It does feel sturdy and well made. Their one-size headgear and "large" cushion are both kind of tight (although not as bad as the F30) -- but the seal is airtight. The cutout under the nose is bigger 👍 than the Amara, and the exhalation is much quieter. It doesn't have a "quick release" per se, but the short tube pops in and out (of the main hose) very easily. Finally, I like mechanical clips; they're more secure.
I've chosen the Evora mostly due to the excellent seal (that's critical), despite the slightly tight fit. I'm going to try adding the "Comfort Cover" mask liner.

The F30 cushion comes in only two sizes: Small, and Medium/Large. I use the Medium/Large size on mine.

Please consider getting and using a tripod to steady the camera. I'm betting that I'm not the only one who experienced vertigo from the 'boat rocking' sway that was especially prominent during the shots that were NOT closeups. Great info, I do want to say, and thank you for doing the video.

I agree with the exhale on the Amara View. I really like that mask. It works well for my face and I use it often, but the air blowing out prevents my cat from wanting to sleep close to that draft and my husband has complained about it as well, and it also dries out my eyes some. The hose that attaches to that mask is a wonderful feature. I have on rare occasion pulled the machine right off my nightstand, so that extra bit of length and the extreme flexibility of the white hose piece that comes with the mask is very helpful if I reach or roll too far away. I have a small nose and have found that the small in this mask works well for me, but medium allows too much leak around my nose.
The Resmed F30 did not work because or that membrane strip on the nose piece. It did block my nose, which is small and narrow, which wasn't working, so I cut that membrane strip off. That weakened the nose membrane enough for it to tear just short of 30 days of use. The leak number on my sleep report was high, and when I checked the mask, I saw the tear, which had happened during the night. Most of my masks can last me for many months, so that was unacceptable.
I also don't like how easily the hose can pop off the top of the DreamWear, and then it can't be reinserted easily without taking the mask off. I could probably get used to that vulnerability and make that mask work, as it fits well around my face and is very comfortable, but I have had to try to reinsert the hose into the silicone strap across the top several times and it's rather frustrating. That wide silicone strap is also more challenging to clean and it mashes a woman's hair badly and since mine is short, I always have to address that issue.

Thank you for your video. I need to wear a full face mask, but I can't tolerate the traditional "cover the nose" ones. My doctor suggested a minimal contact full face mask. Few tips for f30:
    - Put it on at an angle. Wont chafe your nose as bad. I have septum piercing as well.
    - Extremely important to adjust your straps at your highest pressure while the machine is on. You can do this via settings, choosing cpap mode, setting max pressure.. Fitting your mask and putting your regular settings back on.

Hi, I'm a bipap user with high pressure 14/10. I have been looking for a mask that does not leak much and I finally found one that works, the Vitera. I have been using it for a week now and I am averaging about 2 apneas an hr. and some leaking but not like the other masks that I have tried over the years. I have obstructive and Central sleep apnea. I hope the Vitera helps me to get better sleep, less apneas and the leaking under control and it looks like a winner so far. Appreciate your video. I did use the F20 many years ago and could not get the leaking under control. My pressures were 20/16 back then. Ray, Oklahoma

There certainly good mask options. What I'm puzzled about... it feels like different masks vent better than others. In other words, some masks seem to allow me to exhale easier. I am on a fixed pressure of 13.5. The Evora Full seems to cause higher exhale difficulty than my Resmed F30... (Amara View - is a great mask) But - golly is it a noisy mask

I use a Tap Pap nasal mask. Which is nasal pillows with a mouth piece. I can use this without headgear because the mouth piece keeps the pillows in place. The only issue is it does over time realign your teeth because the moldable mouth piece is a bit thicker. So it has moved my top teeth so they are meeting the the bottom teeth in the front, so my bite is off. Which is the same thing that would happen with a TMJ bite plate. The upside is my jaws no longer pop or hurt.

As I've mentioned above, most headgear is as cheap as free lunch. I was told early on to shave my beard. Instead, I ordered a ton of those biker masks that are made from stretchy and thin material that I out on first, before mask or a band of velcro that keeps my mouth closed for the most part. These biker masks keep face grease away from the mask and its components, keeps your face warmer in the winter but stay cool in the summer. There is a velcro band out there that is blue and black which helps keep your mouth closed, either that or you'll be awakened ever cuppla minutes when the machine doesn't like that.

I LOVE my swift FC nose pillows but over the years they are stretching out my nostrils, and I know I sometimes mouth breathe. I have tried so many full face masks and always end up going back to the pillows. The best part is the full silicone super minimal headgear.

You said it yourself..."...they like to shift by themselves....". So, looking at your examples one can easily see that the straps are super close to your eye. One turn while sleeping disrupts all of the straps, putting them right up to your eyeball, possibly causing eye injury. Not only that, but most mask setups are cheaper than free lunch and in less that a week these straps stretch out, forcing the user to (in the middle of the night) tug, pull, tighten until the cheeks on your face near the eye to puff out and bruise in many cases. This alone will ruin your eyesight, especially with an older person. CPAP users need to revolt and demand these makers to design and build equipment comeasurant with what they charge, which is total BS in the first place.

My nose is stuffed up a lot of the time, but when it isn't, I found that for both of them, it really was uncomfortable having so much air blown right up my nose. It also made my sinuses feel very dried out. The issue I had with the top port (vs the tubing coming out the front) is the cleaning - how the heck do I properly clean those passage ways up to the top of my head? Anyway, that's why I still like the Quattro. As usual, YMMV (your mileage may vary.)

Greed is a big problem in this country these days in all areas of our lives. Too many people are concerned about how much profit they can make with too little concern about helping people.

This cpap thing is killing me. The VA gavd me one of these machines about a year ago. I have hardly used it. I cant find a way to make this work for me. Been unable to find a mask that works for me. Tried every mask they offer. All are uncomfortable. It takes me forever to fall asleep and the straps, no matter how loose i make them causes me to get a headache every time. On top of that i have bad back and hip issues and i toss and turn quite often as i get uncomfortable and that damm cord wraps all around me. Finally im a side sleeper and those stupid masks constantly leak making all kinda racket. VA keeps bitching at me saying im refusing to use it which is not the case. It seems this thing and my sleeping style are incompatible. I have tried taking to them about the one called inspire but they dont authorize it. Guess im ass out.

I can’t imagine having to wear this contraption to bed. I can’t stand to wear a face mask when swimming so. Sure couldn’t get used tiny thing like this. My doctor wants me to do a sleep study but I won’t wear anything like this. I toss and turn all night and sleep on my belly with my face buried in e pillow

That is tough. They all have pros and cons that are good for some and not so good for others. I personally like the Amara View for my face, but again, everyone is different.

@@CPAPmyway yes that's very true because everyone has different needs for sure and even just the size and shape of your face can make a huge difference!
Other than using a humidifier (which I do use on high) is there anything else you can suggest for dry mouth? I use a full face mask and my mouth gets so dry that it wakes me up multiple times per night.

Thanks for the input. I think I might stop short of a revolt though. Maybe a strongly worded letter to the manufacturer. ;)
